CakeBandit
Gears of War, Halo, Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Battlefield. These are poorly designed casualfests and should not be used as inspiration for other games. Thank you. So what would you suggest we look towards from your high horse, oh video game Swami? UkyoSonoda
So what would you suggest we look towards from your high horse, oh video game Swami? He's simply saying to stop listing other shooters as the supposed "proper" way of doing something or to stop asking them to slowly turn this game into a reskinned version of one of those over-hyped mainstream titles. CakeBandit
Yeah, but the way he wrote it makes him sound like the lowest common denominator of person. It's totally valid to look at the way another title handles something. You just need to figure out a way to apply it to the aesthetic of Warframe. Pulling it wholesale is typically lazy and bad, but listing off titles and saying "Well this is how they achieve the effect, would something similar to that work here?" Is the best way to communicate what you mean.

Sorry if your favorite game fell in there, them's the breaks.
kill3r_furby
Playing on my lv 30 volt a grenade doesnt kill me unless I'm depleted shield and down to about 100 health. So I dont see issues with them unless you're low level or have no defensive mods in your frame. ...which is an insane barrier to entry when a new player (I just started about 4 days ago) is instantly downed (and subsequently killed due to unreasonably short down times (but that's another issue)) makes it to, say, Venus, and suddenly finds that all of a sudden he's burning through his lives (and subsequently being more or less forced out of matches) because the AI have a burning passion for seeing you dead in the quickest way possible. It sucks. It alienates solo players who are just trying to run missions, who now suddenly have to be fearful of how far away they are from a lonely soldier. Your other thread has made it pretty clear that you're dieing because you're meleeing way too much. Also: this game is built around coop and getting your friends to play. You need to step back and inspect your own playstyle for a bit here.

V1RTU5
jackles ult.... 18 grenade throw wave kills everything. yeah grenades are easly avoidable when u see it coming caus u say oh fuzzy bunny and shoot that guy. some of the grener bosses use them as well and get insti kill on every1 near by. but what if ur in the the midle of a swarm and that 1 guy behind u says, "nows my chance to be a hero...GRENADE!!!!" *BOOOM*.... "did i get him?" (3 dead teno) (throw big party for that guy) thats what the issue is not how easy it is to spot but the super high damage it does. UkyoSonoda
At the same time if the grenades didnt do alot more damage than their melee attacks or guns what would really be the point of using them? Still I find the napalm grineer more problematic than enemies throwing a random grenade in my face.

Bloody napalm grineer pops out on opening a door and "pushes" me down...somehow by the time my allies come my bleed out is like at 10%...n they too got knocked down by the grineer looool
Rivy
Also: this game is built around coop and getting your friends to play. Well if the game has a Solo option then the missions need to be solo-able. Not that I don't enjoy coop (much luff for it). At the same time if the grenades didnt do alot more damage than their melee attacks or guns what would really be the point of using them? Still I find the napalm grineer more problematic than enemies throwing a random grenade in my face. At least you get a warning before one of those show up. With grenades you literally can't even roll out of the AOE before they explode. Edited January 21, 2013 by Rivy
UkyoSonoda
She just tells you a heavy unit is inbound. There really isnt a warning when 2 napalm troopers are aiming at the door waiting for you to open it. lol
Rivy
Still better than the grenade "warning" !
JazzGB
They do need to damage the mobs though...cause being immune to your own grenades is dumb.
