Dmitri looked over to Tara then replied "From what Hayden, Sereena and I saw, they're a bunch of nutjobs who think the Technocyte's some sort of sign from god or something like that and they view us as abominations...I think." Dmitri stated as he rubbed his head "That's all I could figure out from what I saw."

He shook his head and rubbed his eyes afterwards "This country's finally gone mad."

I ponder over all I hear, cultists, infection seen as a god's send, a closed off city, groups bickering and most important a plane offering us a chance to contact people outside.

I sigh looking at Dmitri first. "When people loose hope, they always turn towards powers above them to not care about finding a solution on their own..." And then I look to Annika. "Do you believe that this, plane thing is for real? I mean, that we will be able to contact a tone outside of here." I get a faint hope I'd be able to reassure my family that I'm doing well even though I can't contact them as I'd want.

When Jean's eyes opened, they weren't the usual chestnut anymore. They were silver. And the voice, while patient, definitvely wasn't Jean's. Nor really human. Emet was running the show, which clearly said things about Jean's state to those who could reading between lines.

"Hello. Terribly sorry but my Host isn't quite feeling well, at the moment. Can I help you with anything ?"

Meanwhile, Alpha had taken position on Jean's lap, somewhat between her and Annika. He made something that sound like a huff and stared at her accusingly.

Annika raised her eyebrows at Emet being in control, then moved on. "We were wondering what's up with the computer Jean/you were given," she said, folding her arms. "Its not everyday you get someone walking up to you and just giving you a laptop."

Her eyes switched to Dimitri. "Yes, a bit over a million. Plenty of money for equipment." She sneered slightly. "I suppose Alad can use some for his research."

Her gaze shifted to Cyriann. "I'm not contract lawyer, but the documents look genuine, and Davis seemed annoyed when he lost them, so I'd assume so." I need to hope its real, she added in her head, only way I can get a report home.

"So do we kill the cultists or what?" asked Tara, with a raised eyebrow, stopping her revolver spinning for a moment. "From what I'm hearing, it sounds like we should kill as many of them as we can since they're probably going to try to kill us right?"

"Who doesn't want to kill us these days?" Hayden replied to Tara, almost chuckling if it weren't so truthfull.

"As for this plane... I don't think we're gonna be able to contact the outer world this way. They're going to review all the cargo, so obviously they'll read whatever message we send. Our cry for help would only be heard by the military and Anyo, compromising us." he explained "They only way it'd work is if we were to smuggle it onto the plane post-inspection... but we don't know where or when the plane will take off. We only know the location of the warehouse the cargo will be kept in for safekeeping." he looked at all of them "Not to mention, whatever Anyo's trying to smuggle out is bad news for everyone. Technocyte samples are worth a fortune, but nobody's going to risk their neck coming here and getting some. There's no telling what maniacs could be waiting to experiment with the infection outside of Lasria, and I bet that's why Anyo's here in the first place, just like Alad."

He put his mug on the table, leaning against it "So, we need a plan. Ideas?"

The team had a lot of resources. Financially, they were golden. Annika's cover is still unexposed. Jean has acquired a tool of great influence. Tara has multiple favours to call in. They've still got allies in the capital, and many other resources at their disposal. In addition, they have the most valuable resource of all: time.

He sighs looking to Hayden, holding himself. "We need to have a talks Hayden, just you and I. I... I have questions to ask you."

I feel myself lightly trembling as I close my eyes and look at the small curves I had made in the table earlier.

"Or we try and make allies with these syndicates" replied Dmitri as he hummed "This Glass Perrin, any idea in their stance on the Tenno?" Dmitri inquired as he stroked his chin.

He also glanced at Tara then back to Annika and the others with a hum before asking Emet "What's your thought on this? May as well get an idea from one of the voices in here."

"I'm pretty sure that all the syndicates are against us," Annika said, "but if I could approach her as du Bois, I may be alright." Her face soured slightly. "Though I'll probably have to wear another dress to do so."

She shifted her gaze, both physical and mental, to Cyriann. The Frenchman was.... unusually off balance and twitchy. Regarding Hayden?

"What's wrong Cyriann?" She asked, eyes narrow. "What is it about Hayden that's making you twitchy?"

At this news, Dmitri frowned and shook his head "Damnit, Then we'll need to change that." He stated with a serious tone, he figured they'd not last long without allies plus the trade would be lucrative.

"Question is, who do we wish to try and help?" He asked curiously...

"It's just... Something private linked to my... Nightmare shall I say..." I keep on fidgeting. "There are just things I need to talk about with him. To wipe out the lies that thing tried to implant in me." I show her my shaking hands. "And the worst thing is that it has managed it to an extent. I'm freaking terrified, terrified by a person I respect, and that's a thing I can't let slide on me."

I sigh trying to keep my composure in check. "I guess you could take a dip in to see the extent of what I went through, but I think you already get my problem."  I conclude looking at her in the eyes.

Annika said nothing. Physically, her only action was to take a sip of tea. Her mind was another matter. She reached out towards Cyriann's conscience, gently pressing against the walls of his mind until he let her in to view his memories.

And so she saw into Hayden's sordid past, his sins (or some of them anyway) laid bare before her. Some it she expected. But not all of it. She knew, she didn't know how, that it was all true. There was a certain... quality to them told her that they were true, not visions brought out by delusion.

She finally pulled out, her face guarded. Then she looked at Hayden. For several moments, she said nothing. Her head tilted to one side, her sapphire gaze boring into the American. "You aren't that man any longer," she said at last, "else you wouldn't be here now." Then she turned and left the room, her empty mug of tea sitting on a console.

As she gets in me I could feel her looking around, easily finding what was tormenting my mind. Though she'd probably also feel Edge solidly blocking the way to where he had locked Mimas, making sure no interference would touch its chackles.

And then she leaves with only a few words, I look at her, the surprise having taken away my fears, but also her words. I turn to Hayden, now waiting for his answer.

Emet shrugged.

"My Host could tell you more about it, but the short version is she got contacted. Through a slot machine,of all things. By someone who apparently knows about people like you and commiserate with them. Their exact words were : "Your kind has it hard". As far as has been told, this comes with no strings attached. So that would mean there's at least one group unwilling to kill you people."

  • 4 weeks later...

Hayden listened to the others' suggestions, as well as Cyriann's worry. Annika's response... surprised him, to say the least, as well as her abrupt departure. They still had planning to do, and she of all people left. It convinced him that what she and Cyriann saw was very serious, and had to be taken care of as soon as possible.

"Alright. First of all, we'll need intel on that plane. Contacting these syndicates sounds like our best bet, so I want Jean on that computer as soon as she's awake. Alad might know something too, it'd be worth to question how he even got into Lasria. We'll also need to make an inspection of our food supply, as well as ammo, should we need to prepare to go on the offensive. Lastly, the group from the capital has earned a rest, but I don't want anyone slacking off when there's work to be done. And Cyriann, we can talk here if you still want to. As for the rest of you, dismissed."

Hammond wordlessly rolled his shoulders, and left as he was told. The rest were free to do what they want upon leaving the CIC, though it'd be favorable to contribute to their efforts however they can.

"I'll be conducting recon on my own. Contact me via comms if you want to reach me." said Tara, picking up a map of the area before grabbing a bag and some supplies that she might need in order to survive, including some climbing equipment and rations. "Someone's got to scout ahead for locations where you can meet with the syndicates right?"

She stopped for a moment before looking at the others.

"If you want to come with me, you'd better hurry. I'm leaving in an hour."

"I'll go have a word with Alad then. might as well check on how that leg of his is doing." replied Dmitri as he stood up and proceeded to head for the medical bay before yelling "Oi! Vayenshki! where are you?!" as he looked around for the scientist who he put a few pellets into their knee when they first met.

He still didn't trust him.

After leaving the CIC, Annika had secured her weapons in the armoury before heading down the ladder to the crew deck. She went to her room, then stripped down to her underwear, pulling her hair loose as she did so. Rummaging through her webbing, she plucked out the shampoo and shower gel that she had bought in the Captial before they left, then picked up her towel and headed to the showers. She hadn't had one while in Shikari's flat, but now it beckoned to her. The humanising effects a good shower could have should never be understated.

It also gave her the opportunity to think.

As the water ran through her hair, she cast her mind back to the casino, grimacing slightly at her inability to extract the information wholesale from Davis. Her rational mind pointed out that she was trained in CPS, not interrogation and manipulation, something her pride only grudgingly accepted. The rational part of her mind also reminded her that the mission hadn't been a completely failure. They had, after all, gained a small fortune, a way to get information out of Lasria, and a potential in with Glass Perrin.

She considered the other mission as she washed, wiggling her fingers between her toes to clean them (infantry she was not, but she didn't want athlete's foot (again)). This cult that had sprung up was worrying. She didn't need to have the potential consequences explained to her. She'd seen the lengths that religion could drive one to in the Middle East. She wasn't interested in a repeat performance.

She continued musing to herself as she showered, her mind simultaneously analysing and wandering the Liset, keeping an eye on what else was happening on the vessel.

I sigh, a long sigh as I force myself to canalize my terrors out, to focus on what I have to say. In the end I noticed I didn't really cared for the other's presence or absence, all I thought was that it would be better if I was the only one to know of what I had seen, especially if Hayden was to confirm it to be true.

"Hayden, while I was... In that thing's grasp it made me go through a nightmare I would never had ever imagined could be possible had I not lived it through." I take a long intake of air, looking at Sereena still by my side. "What I've seen is two things." I start detailing the first part, the man on the chair, the bomb, the helicopter, Nemesis, that man and how cold he seemed. Then I add the second part. "So... I guess now you understand why I am frightened when I see you. The last image I had in mind when I woke up, was you, shooting me straight in the face with a completely blank face." I pause, leaving the whole thing some time to think in before adding. "I don't believe any of this can be true, it has nothing to do with you are, with the man I look up to when I think of what we can be. Much like a vision I was submitted to involving Sereena, one she helped me to put aside as the lie it was. I'm askig you to just... Confirm that."

With that said, he continued on his way to the armory, waving to Tara there.

Hayden seemed to recollect on something. He listened to Cyriann closely, suprised at the level of detail. It took him a while to form a response, a silence long enough Cyriann might get uncomfortable. Then, he finally spoke.

"Is it really that hard to believe?" he asked, his tone neutral "I was a soldier Cyriann. An agent part of a secret organization you'd compare to a conspiracy theory these days. Killing with a blank face was what I did for a living." he looked at the cup, the black liquid reflecting his face "Hell, it was the only thing I was good at... but, I guess I'm not that man anymore." he looked back at Cyriann "You won't have to fear me Cyriann. Neither will the others."

The silence Hayden left hanging felt awfully long but his answer at least was what I was awaiting from him.

"I wouldn't have been shaking like a scared cat if I didn't thought there could be only lies in all I saw." I answer, à lot calmer though there is still remnants of my shaking. "I just wanted to be sure what I thought, that you are now different, was true, and I thank you for confirming that." I take Sereena's hand as I smile to him. "Thank you Hayden."

Emet's eyes flickered, and suddenly  Jean was back at the helm.

"...Ah. Better."

She took a second to take in all what happened.

"Terribly sorry, Tara, but I believe I will pass on that one. I have...Things to do."

There was a spark of excitement in her eyes. She moved out of the room, settled back on a table. Plugged in a USB key.

And thus, Dmitri headed for the male bathrooms to get the smell of the dark sector off him, taking his time in the shower to get washed, cleaned and scrub the smell of Technocyte blood and guts off his person that by this point were starting to smell more foul by the minute, scrubbing hard with cheaply made soap across his arms.

After having exactly zero responses that told her otherwise, Tara took the hint that no one was going to go scouting ahead with her and simply shrugged, preparing to leave with the small amount of supplies that she took along with her. Putting on a set of old-style headphones and clipping the walkman she retrieved from her stash to her belt, she slid one of her mixtapes in and pressed play after adjusting the volume to allow her to listen to her surroundings without too much of a problem.
