Warframes look awesome. Everything else? not so much.

I love the look of the warframes. It's a unique and awesome looking aesthetic. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the other factions of the game.

The grineer are generic, boring evil space marines. I'd love for someone to prove me wrong, but it's the truth. I have seen nothing interesting about the Grineer design.

So here's my idea: what if the Grineer had a focus on grotesque body modifications combined with cybernetics? Where the Tenno would represent the ideal merging of flesh and technology to create beauty, the Grineer care only about power. They'd have features such as tubes sticking out of their skin, hastily sitched together cybernetics, that sort of thing.

The corpus are fine. They're just sort of robots. As long as their artifical nature is played up, to contrast the more biological appearance of Tenno, then I'll like them/

I see where you're coming from, but I don't fully agree,

Normally the generic space marine is all bulk. Just look at Starcraft/Warhammer, Gears of War. But the Grineer are actually not all bulk. Sure the top half of them is really bulky, but the rest not so much. The legs in particular are extremely thin.

But that's only visuals though. As for backstory and lore, they seem pretty standard. I guess the point is this time you're 'not' one of them.

U do really get more from the grineer from their dialogue than their visuals. The bulky body armor and large weapons are fleshed out more by their monotone, almost dim witted voices and intelligence that is obviously caused by rapid cloning as their back story explains.

Eh, I think the designs are fine. Like the Warframes, the Grineer definitely have a very unique look that sets them apart from other games. I think what you propose sounds good and makes sense given the backstory and I'm glad DESteve agrees. All that said, I'm not unhappy with their current design. I feel like they are "cool" enough that they are interesting but also "grotesque" enough (with the faces and the skewed proportions) that you're glad you're not one of them.

Can't really agree; all enemy design is pretty creative, and the weapons are nice as well. The blending of military utility in some weapons and antique styling on others was really unique. The Grineer are very cohesive design-wise, all united very well in their theme, which is fine aside from some very questionable coloring choices when it comes to their heavy units. The Corpus are okay; my only complaint would be that variations on the standard "Crewman" don't exist. Many things could be done there, even alternate uniforms for differing rank/difficulty. The worst that can be said of them is that their robots have a vastly different design ethic than their troops. The worst offense the game commits, honestly, is awfully generic level art. It doesn't match the Corpus OR the Grineer; the levels, frankly, look like practice or rejected environments from Mass Effect. They don't even remotely look like they belong inside the haunting, weird starships aboard which the game seems to take place.

Enemy design seems fine to me, but the environment doesn't really vary. Would it be possible for there to be some outdoor environments? or even just a level where the entire ceiling is glass or something, to create a more 'open' feel.

I've heard they're working on level design, so I wouldn't worry. Obviously more variety would be nice and especially some variation/unique traits between the Grineer vs. Corpus ships and some outdoor (or outdoor-ish) environments would be great.

You can easily recognize different factions from each other, that's a really good thing.

Corpus has easily distinguishable units, but heavy grineers can be sometimes harder to tell apart from the rest. They're a bit bigger and in different colors, but I still think their shape could use some slight altering.

The Grineer are neat, the top heavy proportions make for a really interesting look.

But, the elites really need more to make them stand out. Heavy Gunners, Bombards, and Napalms having slightly differing colors is pretty boring.

To some extent I'd wish they'd have very caricature-esque weaponry to make thier silhouettes stand out like sore thumbs.

-Heavy gunners, give them big chainguns + ammo backpacks

-Napalms/Bombards, give them a large shoulder mounted rocket tubes

Im in the complete opposite side of this.

The bioarmor desings are not that much different from what i've seen in other places that use the same idea but i LOOOOOOVEE the weird bug-like shell armor of the Grineer. I love their weird design, in fact, i would want to play as them in the future.

Grineer looks are awesome from a design point o view, their top heavy armor clashes really nice with their 'socks and shoes' lower part, their masks and camo patterns are unique too.

what annoys me is the fact that they use the same weapons as the tenno, do they all go to buy their arsenal at the same place? i mean, the corpus have their unique guns, why can't the Grineer?

unrelated: i would like the bolto to have a model that reflects better the fact that is a heavy bolt gun, it shares model with the lato now, which is funny since the bolts it fires are bigger than the gun itself (and there's no physical room for a clip holding the ammo in the current model)
