Question

Can physical weapons proc elemental props. I was reading melee 2.0 on wiki so my understanding is that if a weapon has impact, puncture, slash that's all it will proc? It won't proc corrosive,or blast your elements basically. Is this true or can you proc physical and elemental props. Mostly I wonder if the mios can

Short answer: Any weapon with a status chance higher than 0% can proc any damage type present on the weapon.

Longer answer awaits below:

A Mios has Impact, Slash, Puncture on it by default. If you put no other mods on it, it will only proc Impact, Slash, or Puncture. If you add elements to it (let's say Cold for this example), then now it can proc Impact, Slash, Puncture, or Cold.

Also of note, you can only have 1 proc per instance of damage. So 1 melee swing can only have 1 proc (assuming no multihits). Shotguns and guns with multishot fire multiple instances of damage (Shotguns have pellets, other guns have multiple bullets) and can potentially have more than 1 proc per pull of the trigger.

The currently accepted idea behind proc probability seems to be that: IPS (impact, puncture, slash) procs will occur 4x more often than Element procs. So if you have 10% status chance and your weapon has elements and IPS, then you'll have 8% IPS procs and 2% elemental procs.  Personally, I feel like elemental procs are more common than that but that's just a feeling.

For weapons that have no IPS damage (for example, Ninkondi, Serro, and Prova have only Electric damage). This means that they will never have IPS procs (unless specific stance combos force an IPS proc, like Sundering Weave's hold combo). This means you can narrow down your potential pool of procs; you can end up having only Corrosive procs on your weapon instead of having an assortment of Impact, Slash, Puncture, and Corrosive procs.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, proc distribution is based on the distribution of damage. Mios has 80 damage: 24 Impact, 20 Puncture, 36 Slash. Since Slash is the highest damage type, it will proc the most often of the physical damage types. Puncture is the lowest damage type, and thus will proc the least often of physical damage types.

The exact distribution of procs is based on the distribution of damage.  45% of its damage is Slash (45 slash / 80 total dmg), so 45% of IPS procs will be Slash. 25% of its damage is Puncture (20 Punc. / 80 total dmg), so you'll have 25% of your IPS procs being Puncture; the same follows for Impact (which is 30%).

Mios has a 25% base status chance. Using the distribution from the previous paragraph, we can find that your distribution of procs is:

-11.25% chance to proc Slash on a swing. (45% of Slash procs from a total 25% status chance).

-6.25% chance to proc Puncture on a swing. (25% of Puncture procs from total 25% status chance).

-7.5% chance to proc Impact on a swing. (30% of Impact procs from a total 25% status chance).

If you have Corrosive on your Mios with a 25% status chance still, you'll have 4x as many IPS procs as Elements. This results in 20% chance of IPS procs and 5% chance of proccing an element (Corrosive in this case). This results in the following distribution with Corrosive:

-9% to proc slash on a swing. (45% Slash with a total IPS proc rate of 20%).

-5% to proc Puncture on a swing. (25% Puncture with a total IPS proc rate of 20%).

-6% to proc Impact on a swing. (30% Impact with a total IPS proc rate of 20%).

-5% chance to proc Corrosive on a swing, since it's not competing with other elements.

Hopefully that all makes sense. I realize this can be a lot to take in, but no need to digest it all at once.
