Orthos Prime Hype?

What is with Orthos Prime aside from aesthetics that makes people gravitate to it when tipedo is statistically superior in everyway I can think to compare? Am I missing something?

Orthos Prime has very long range aside from its fast attack speed. Put a Rank 7+ Primed Reach on it and see it hit stuff without the blade even touching. Also, the combo/quick melee attacks between the Tipedo and Orthos Prime are very different since they are different weapon types. One aspect that makes the polearms really shine is how the combos involve spinning the weapon that hits everything around the player, even in quick melee. And this attack can be done both stationary and while sprinting, so it's definitely got its own edge compared to the staffs.

Because you're looking at plain stats only.

 

The range is what makes Orthos Prime superior.

 

Polearms are also about spin/air/slam attacks and not just spamming the EEE combo.

Is it in Range? Cause that's the reason people generally use the Orthos P.

I can see range, anybody happen to know of a conclusive comparison of range? I could see the advantage in that aspect if true (is why I prefer jat kitty over scindo prime).

Okay, gotcha. I'm also testing using sniper scopes and the orthos has 3.2m range while tipedo has 3.0m range The claims are definitely credible.

Its mainly the range. Range means hitting the 5 targets per swing, more dps per hit, more combo multiplier, on a overall pretty good weapon.

The hype roots in the old coptering mechanic tho. It was the fastest traveling weapon back then. I personally prefer swords and heavy weapons ...best generall dps+best utility in the game. The galatine is even similar to the orthos, on a MUCH better stance.
