Getting into a Lobby with a russian host was horrible most of the time cause of the bad connection. For sure. It's not like they're unfriendly or anything, but joining a 400ms ping game hosted by people with whom you can't communicate does put a bit of a damper on things. I'm sure it's no fun for them as hosts seeing their teammates wait five seconds for a door to open. Coincidentally, I still think unlocked doors should have no body collision to solve that very same problem of getting stuck because of lag, but I'm sure this probably isn't the time or place to mention how such a simple change would be massively beneficial for all who play cross-region or with laggy friends. As a native Finn who knows next to nothing about the Russian language it'll be great to branch out of that and not get random Russian text flung at me. But I guess it'll also make the trade sphere smaller for east Europe. Well. I welcome it. Maybe I can finally speak English with my PUG teammates. I get Russians in matchmaking all the time and on top of not being able to communicate with them, they are also almost invariably rude, calling my mother names and making lewd remarks. Myself and friends in game have often turned to another, rolled our eyes collectively over how silly it is to have server region called 'Europe' and try to cover it all under that one banner. I even set my Matchmaking Ping Limit to 100 to avoid issues but it still occurs - mostly in conclave which is TRUE agony. So to hear this is just the best news ever for me and my online experience with Warframe. Now they just need to make chat more...warframey? Please? You can change the setting for yourself. If it's automatic it removes the issue of people not knowing the option is there, which takes priority over someone having to sacrifice the five seconds required to change the setting.
