Brokenrune
I am not sure if it is the lighting changes done a while back or something else. Warframe doesn't feel like the dark scifi shooter anymore, it is just a grindfest with space ninjas. Where did the dark and horror aspects of the game go? Lykaios_Xenidis
Maybe is because i'm too new but ¿Since when warframe has got any horror element?
Dromeos-Prime
It went away when you played the game more and more, at first i too was impressed and curious about the game. But as time went on i got more adjusted to seeing all of the sights, once you know what a thing is, it can't really be mysterious or dark anymore. (PSN)FriendSharkey
Haven't you noticed the trend towards brighter blue skies in escapism elements. Who needs horror and dark when you can just as easily turn on the news.
chaotea
Ive been playing since day of open beta (got access before, but it took me 5 days to download.) Ive never felt that the tone has slipped. It never had horror aspects, and it can still be pretty dark. The only dark horror stuff that was in-game was infested levels, and you still get some where the lights are out, but you see it less as theres just more content in general. Phatose
They realized that Warframe doesn't need to pull a "So dark your gamma correction needs to be at top to see anything" with the visuals. The lore is already pitch black.
Zachatoo
I can still barely see in the Grineer Galleon tileset, it's plenty dark there. I think you just got used to the darkness, playing any dark/horror game will make the game seem less dark after a while.
eksby
It did used to be darker. Here's a screenshot from 2013 April: Some more from 2013: Spoiler
Lykaios_Xenidis
Maybe if DE shows a little more how horrible the effects of the infestation can be (i want to see a grineer version of the Eris tileset). could be more horror themed.

Drufo
Maybe not horror, but it was (visually) darker indeed. Actually I'd like a sort of return to the origin, with less bright environments

Replacement
Reason: Earth. Remember when Earth was desolate ruins according to the star chart? Grineer Galleons and underground mining facilities highlighted this idea that Earth was so ruined you didn't even get to see the surface. Now we have a jungle planet, and everything has been more cheerful and colorful ever since. That was when Warframed Jumped The Kubrow with their themes. That and adding the line to captures that the target has been "escorted to extraction." I was way happier when my headcanon was post-humanistic matter-to-data. That's worth screaming about. Half of the weapons couldn't kill S#&$ past Uranus, only armor ignore weapons were effective. A real challenge...

kubbi
It definitely felt more dark and earie like 2 years back. The first year I ran warframe the game gave me chills with the backgroundmusic and sound effects. And back when the grineer spoke English. I miss those times. DeFragMe
i tried running old quest missions with a friend as he started.definitly got brighter, even in the missions that "introduce" the infested. They were way darker and only the flashlight was a source of light, with creepy sounds. They arent there anymore.
Valkyrion
I think this game were so much better before they implemented the void into the game. After that the game turns into a fiesta of swag, bling-bling and rainbows.
RedGoat989
well when i started i found the game very interesting and confusing i was scared of fighting enemies lvl 3 because i was a n00b and the first time stalker spawned i started running like a headless chiken (i was doing solo) and died in 2 secs then i found the infested which werent that much horrofying because i was already used to fighting monsters and zombies but the atmosphere that they carried was spooky specialy when i found eris then there was my first G3 encouter my zanuka i was in a squad so i dint even get a change to see it but the G3 i was doing a spy mission and with fear of them ruining the vault i quickly runed to extraction but surprisingly i killed them very easily then there was the manics man how much was i terrified by that laugh in short the game can be a bit scary to new players but once u face all the enemies and get used to them the game loses its kinda horror part or look but it did loose its dark theme a little bit because now we look like colorfull friendly warriors running around dressed in pink i liked more when we were legends the feared tenno warrior now we just look like pink soldiers/mercenaries

The difficulty you remember has a lot more to do with your gear/mods than any actual game changes. I usually start leveling a new frame by doing Earth excavation missions (I save Draco for the teen levels), and I notice how difficult the game is for the random new people I'm sometimes grouped with. It takes them a considerable amount a shooting to kill an enemy, while I one shot them with my Vaykor Hek. One thing I've started doing is taking less used, non-op weapons to level Draco (no Synoid Simulor or Tonkor). You'd be surprised how much more fun it is when not cheesing through things with OP gear.

Way back in the day, when the infested were still new...the dark maps were really dark and all you had was a flashlight to see. It had a spooky feeling, then RAWR! Infested on you! This was long ago, when warframe was a bit more...'realistic', you were squishier and the game had you feel more like a soldier/ninja than the OP things we are now.
