"By telling myself its only in my head." He says. "What isn't real can't hurt me.

He gestures behind him.

"And this fellow can be very distracting." He says.

There is something following you both, a volt that seems to be made of smoke and shadow. It does not distort in the breeze, nor does it react in any way to the noise.

"Every Keeper has a shadow." Alan says. "A copy of our imprint, imbued with the same energies as the ones at the monastery. They hold our powers in check, remind us of our oaths, and tend to our duties when we are incapacitated."

"You should focus on your task." The shadow says. "Do not summon me again for such trivial matters."

It disappears and Alan visibly sags, as if conjuring it tired him.

"Self-persuasion and the undead moral chain, then?" Sig commented half-ironically with undertones of seriousness.

A couple of minutes passed after this what appeared to be the concluding phrase, but then, the heavy added of all the sudden: "Need to get Fitz out of there..."

The sound of another artillery barrage emerged from the camp's location and echoed through the mountainside, interrupting this weirdly timed and seemingly obvious statement.

"...badly" Sig finished with the voice that seemed not-so-stoic, which is untypical to him.

The rest of the mountain route passed in a weird sort of silence, by the end of which, the duo ended up observing the camp from the mesa above. There were about four heavy platoons of nightwatch corps, three Ruk's "arid" platoons, five ramparts, five heavy mortars operated by grineer, a landing zone marked by the lights, and three automatized rocket Anti-air batteries connected to a small rotating radar array.

"Diving ambush. I drop down and you follow. Heavy blacks and machine gunners first, then the rest. Full personnel extermination with the following point withheld until reinforcements"  he spoke while reaching for his zweihander. Then, after a moment of calculating the trajectory, he charged from above, roaring in mid-air  (which felt like an invigorating brick to the face), landed heavily, suspending unsuspicious hostiles, and blasted a conical explosive wave, sweeping one rampart machine gunner and four adjusted units from the cliff before reaching for his machine gun and opening fire at the most threat-imposing targets.

Two distanced and so unsuspended scorpions began to rush downhill without trying to put any resistance. Perhaps they were in panic, or maybe they were messengers under this no-comms dome.

Dixon sneaks closer, hiding behind piles of sand until he is within range Then he releases a burst of irradiated, disarming energy. Philip hangs back, looking for isolated groups of Grineer to engage.

There was a little shock in the camp since they weren't expecting for an intrusion. It appears that this whole siege was meant to be a secret. In any case, two-thirds of the camp personnel that was not irradiated opened fire at surrounding covers, sometimes shooting the most menacing irradiated kin. Three scorpions immediately rushed away from the camp for whatever reason they had.

The Meridian troops peek over the ridge, whispering numbers back to a scorpion. Each carries a set of codex scanners to pierce the walls and locate vital items.

The scorpion begins flashing a small mirror back towards where the ship landed. after a moment the troops there unload small devices, each one looking like an altered mortar cannon, three in total. Each one fires, corpus rail technology preventing the rounds from leaving smoke trails that can be traced back to the ship. One lands near the array, releasing an EMP wave to disable the systems. Another lands on the far side of the camp, projecting an image of Grineer troops running over the dunes towards the camp. The last, a modified mine, similar to a bouncy betty hits the ground near the fuel storage for the transports, rigging itself to blow on command. Three more follow it. The mortar crews load three high explosive rounds, targeting the array, and wait for a signal.

The panic in the camp ensued. A small group attempted to run away from the bombarded camp, take cover and regroup. The other part decided to entrench within the camp. Scarce gunfire started, perhaps aimed at the projections. The nightwatch scorpion stopped to look at the chaos in the camp, reversed it movement, and rushed back to the valley that hosted the main forces.

The radio jams in the area have changed, rapidly growing less intense

Upon arriving you see Grineer bodies littering the area, apparently the Grineer did not take kindly to the "borrowing" of their tower. There is a lone Vauban Prime, clad in white and gold, standing near one of the terminals.

They say that spec OPs are all humorous folks prone to pranks and creepy humor. These, however, were either humorless or annoyed, because an ivara-navigated magnetic arrow to a knee spine, followed by a limbo's banish and stasis, and spiced with a tackling invisible ash is an outright rudeness. They didn't even toss anything like "stop right there, criminal sc00m" or any other obligatory call-out.

What a rude, rude times...

What a rude, rude times...

The moment the Ash and Vauban hit the ground, a signal flashes out.

A ship breaks from the void, its appearance similar to a light cruiser. It bears the curling symbol of Red Veil.

Scans reveal another ship, inbound at high velocity, moving almost too fast for scanners to detect, let alone target.

"Unknown assailants stand down or you will be fired upon." The Cruiser says, as tracking lasers target the team. "Release the Vauban and order your approaching vessel to alter course."

The Meridian snipers target the Scorpion, firing a spread to take it down.

The mirror flashes again and the explosive rounds strike the array. The mine near the fuel tanks is detonated, sending glowing hot shrapnel into the tanks.

Alan follows, releasing an electrical wave to paralyze the nearby Grineer as he lands, then moves forward, firing his Soma at the heavy targets.

The covered carriers did change the route, but the group did not react as requested. The rift cataclysm bubble emerged, forcing the whole scene to another dimension, and instead of releasing the captive he has been put in some sort of manacles with an explosive charge. The frames lights also brightened up, as if they were also equipped with the integrated bombs that have just got primed. Ignoring the demands, the dully-gray ash with no identity marks put the hostage on his feet, the identically outfitted ivara proceeded to copy the terminal logs, and the equally suspicious limbo just took a moment to scan the captive. Looks like this cell is absolutely humorless and mannerless, if not outright terrorists.

However, it was some time since the hacking incident took place and the suspect that caused it is surely anywhere but here (unless they are dumb as a brick). Besides, this one was outfitted differently, suggesting that his role and the circumstances that led him here are to be determined.

None of the frames spoke anything. Just a line of text from a weirdly-named sender appeared on the comms of the de-frosted vauban.

"I am Simon of Clan Miraalan." He says. "And you have made a grave mistake."

The Vauban shifts, stepping through the void and out of the frame, and fading into the void. He blasts the assembled with a wave of force, sending them off of the ledge and into the platform just below.

This has the fortunate result of clearing them from the bombardment of the inbound ship, targeted around the console. The Vauban however is caught in the blast, the missiles releasing void pulses that partially tear him from the void. His frame, normally a last ditch haven, falls aparts under the bombardment, its shields already depleted.

The remaining looking up the barrels of various Wraith weapons.

"Captain, send the cruiser after that fighter before it circles around again." Dirge says.

He turns to the limbo.

"You are under arrest." Dirge says. "You will be brought before a tribunal to determine your guilt."

Their HUD's would show that all abilities are being blocked, similar to the effect of a Banshee's silence ability in conclave matches.

A moment later a Banshee peeks her head over the ledge.

"He'a in critical condition." She says. "I can't do anything in this state."

Dirge places his pistol to the head of the Limbo.

"Correction." He says. "If he dies, so do you."

The message popped up now in Dirge's visors

"IrauecPFaoYnl: You overestimate your control, hitman. You can make things even worse by detonating the armed drones and achieving the goal of the culprit side, or you can order your cell to take the silence down and cover from the vessel that is here to slam the trap shut and to hound our groups in the aftermath. Think clear, ranger"

"Strike craft escaped." The Cruiser says. "Circling back to recover wounded."

Dirge laughs.

"I am thinking far more clearly than you it appears." He says. "I, at least, take the time to identify my targets. I am sure Major Bloom will be very interested in explaining why a WTC spec ops team just assaulted a member of the Phenix Science Division, and interfered with an official mission. Of course if you're rogue, well... then I get to have fun. It's been a while since I've added a skull to my collection."

He and the other Wraiths each toss a strange spike into the warframes. As they rappel up to the waiting cruiser, the spikes release a mild transference surge, enough to briefly stun an unprotected operator.

The Cruiser flies up into the air, and cloaks, slipping back into the void.

Quickly recovering from this annoyance, the trio of frames was joined by the loki, who fixated everything happening on the scene from a distance all this time. They browsed the site for any additional clues such as types of lethal traumas caused to grineer mooks, scanned the place for any unusual traces, stolen the comm logs of the base (in hopes to reconstruct the intrusion of the third party), and proceeded to hijack a vessel from the nearby hangars. Seems like these puppeteers do enjoy A******ry to a (quite high) degree.

Richard's Trinity Prime had expanded from the briefcase on his desk to its full size the instant the message had arrived.  Bless Ordis, he'd implemented the emergency feature - messages to Richard from Dirge or any message containing the words "medic", "doctor", or some variation of "a thing happened" would trigger the expansion, shaving a full three seconds off his response time.

As he stepped backward into his Warframe, he opened a channel to Dirge.  He'd long since standardized procedure with the Wraiths to tell him the state of hostile forces and the type of wounds he'd be looking at while he was prepping for transport, and sure enough the information was appearing on his HUD as he set the coordinates for Ordis and teleported to his Orbiter.  "Inbound."

The facility is a Wraith safehouse located on a small asteroid near Ceres. The wounds list several broken bones, internal bleeding, shrapnel in several major organs, and void energy fluctuations.

Dirge greets you at the entrance.

"Glad you're here." He says. "We've already burned five emergency med kits just keeping him stable. He was attacked by spec ops, WTC I believe, and then some moron bombed the platform. The rounds were unlike anything I've seen before, they pulled him out of the void and tore through his warframe like it was nothing."

There are fragments of the rounds the bomber used. The console however is damaged beyond repair. The Grineer mooks appear to have been killed by Orokin designed Boltor flechettes. Given the state of the damage to the console and towers it appears that the comm logs are inaccessible. Radio pings indicate Grineer moving into the area limiting the time to gather more data. The hangar has several craft including a long range Courier class vessel.

The group grabbed some fragments and decided to GTFO from the zone of operation to a designated conspiracy hideout on a lesser courier.

Meanwhile, Bloom was trying to contact her mentor during the pauses between group's target priority exercises.

She's not the only one trying to get in contact with someone.

Contact channels hail from both the UHC, Lua, and the Wraiths.

"Odd." He says dryly. "We've had the same issue. In fact I sent someone to investigate."

He takes a breath.

"Simon is now fighting for his life after a group of.. interlopers, tried to kidnap him." He says. "My brother seems to think the WTC had something to do with it."

His smile is less an expression of humor than a show of teeth.

"I assured him the WTC would never be so careless as to interfere in private matters." He says. "But I am duty bound to ask, do you recognize any of these individuals?"

Several images of the spec ops crew are transmitted.

"I do not take kindly to attacks upon my clan." He says. "And I am eager to identify these individuals so that I may 'correct' whatever misguided thoughts persuaded them to attack one of my friends."
