Chat UI

Problem:

There's many instances such that most players or some players will have the tendency to use the chat in wrong places, eventually get kicked from chat-box which is understandable. However, the main issue lies in how packed the current chat UI seemed to be displayed. With only a few chat sections and along as the game becomes much more advanced with new contents, each section will be overly-crowded and in turn, it will cause more hectic for players that simply want their voice to be brought across.

Example would be: Player 1 wants to buy prime parts, however he/she has to face many others that are using WTS, WTT, and etc. Not to mention, finding certain parts to buy/sell requires alot of patience to eventually meet a customer/seller that acquires the parts that you want.

Solution:

A few solutions that i proposed to make improvements on are,

- Allow switchable hotkeys like F1,F2, F3 and hide-able channel for ease of use.

By having switchable hotkeys, players can individually bring up individual chat of specific chat section and in turn create better efficiency and ease of use. Players will not find themselves accidentally pressing 'T' to bring up/close chat unnecessarily or unintentionally.
Example would be: F1 - Recruiting, F2 - Global, F3 - Trading. etc

- Improve chat sections

As warframe begins to grow overtime with new contents and players, There will be an overcrowded issue of players on a specific channel just to have their voice brought out, which are often being not reachable as a result. To improve matchmaking and overall efficiency of the chats, we could further break-down recruiting chat into two categories; missions and clan/alliance recruitment. As well as having trading to be further split into three categories; Exchange, Sell, Buy. Players whom are searching for their own parts or items that uses the 'LF' or 'Looking For' in short, will be set as a command which bot will send a whisper or pm to player on a list of respective players that are currently having their parts or items being voiced out.

Because of numerous specific chat sections, we could further implement a vertical-rectangular chat-box, which is similar to steam, and there will be a switch button like an 'on/off', but is renamed to having;

- 'Recruitment' as a main Section with Clan & Alliance under Group as sub-main section and Missions & Relics under Squad as Clan & Alliance as a two-horizontal scrolling switch of an 'on/off' button.
- 'Trading' as a main section with Exchange, Selling and Buying as a three-horizontal scrolling switch of an 'on-off' button.
- 'Looking For' as a seperate section for players to type in a search bar with their items they want. From there, they will either receive a private message regarding recent players that are having these items or simply showing a list on the same box of players that are currently having these parts with either selling or buying them.

Edit: There will be possibility for players to 'hide-chat' for each specific chat categories so they can better focus on the section that they want to see or get heard as a notification whenever someone's mentioning the items that they want.

We could also have a sort of 'local' channel for players in the same region but are orbiting specific planets/in the void as a result of their last mission.

Though the option to change which unlocked world you orbit in navigation would be neat, with a little cinematic showing your orbiter jumping with the solar rails but I'm getting off topic...

But I think that a new UI for chat and new channels or even separate 'conversations' that you could join or overhear would be a small improvement over what we have right now: multiple conversations happening in the same channel so that it's impossible to follow half of the time, and the occasional belligerent who just interjects to fuel chaos makes it a pretty noisy place to be.
