Buying gifts for other players from the marketplace

I play with someone who is on a fixed income.  He is never going to spend actual cash in any game mostly because he can't afford it and is willing to accept the limitations in order to play with our group (we have gone through several online games).  In the past I was able to purchase him subscriptions, content, or whatever to help him keep up with us so he could enjoy the game. He simply does not play enough to pick up all the blueprints etc.  to keep up with our group who are spending platinum for catalysts, reactors, the odd weapon or whatever.  I would like to buy some platinum or a prime package etc. as a GIFT and have it passed to him.  I can't be the only player who has teammates who can't fork over actual cash to buy platinum and who would like to buy it for someone else.
