Limbo Main's Thoughts and Ideas for a Rework

I have put a lot of time into the game (1300 hours according to Steam and not including time I played before it was on Steam) and a lot of time and effort into Limbo and he is in fact my favorite frame in this game to date. His potential as an asset to his team are only slightly overlooked due to his initial reception as being a "troll frame" and while I do believe he can be a very powerful frame that can work in synergy with the rest of his teammates, there are some tweaks/ changes that might be more beneficial to him.

- Turn his first ability into his passive: Essentially I feel that people are right to feel that his 1 and 2 abilities are almost identical. So remove the current 1st ability and make it a passive that allows him to banish enemies that he damages regardless of what plane they are in (So long as he himself is in the rift). He is supposed to be the master of the rift so why is it that weapon limitations to non-Rift afficionados should apply to him?

- Take the remainder of his 1st ability and give it to his second: Now because i know how beneficial it can be to actually banish allies into the rift (should they want energy/ you use Haven to heal allies you banish with your 1st), Make it so that your 2 ability will function differently depending on your target. If you are targeting an ally, you can banish them to the Rift and have all the other effects of doing so (will probably change what the haven augment uses for its ability). If you are not targeting an ally, it works as it has this whole time and will allow Limbo to send himself into the rift instead.

- Make his 3rd ability affect the whole group: This would help alleviate his super-specialization and give another point into being good for team synergy. If you feel that this in itself would be too overpowered then at least make it an augment like Nezha's Safeguard which imparts a 50% effective version of it on to allies...**Seriously even if there is never a rework of limbo at least please make this a thing as an augment!!**

- Get rid of his shrinking affect on his 4th: With all the modifications I have listed thus far it lends limbo into being a frame that can set up an AoE which allows allies to deal more damage inside of it. The shrinking aspect of it kinda feels weird even as he is now. The only reason I could consider keeping his 4th the way it is would be to scale the final detonation damage to the size of the cataclysm (a smaller sphere having a more lethal detonation)

 

I would like to also list here the things I feel are perfectly fine on Limbo as is and really should not be touched.

  • The 2 energy per second is a good bonus for people being in the rift. Perhaps even give his current passive as well to allies since my ideas replace it.
  • The use of Warframe abilities transcending the rift is another key aspect that lends itself to help the team.
  • Him HAVING Rift Walk, Rift Surge, and Cataclysm becasue these abilities are well designed and very useful. They just need some small tweaks.

 

I hope to hear from you all in the comments what you think of these ideas for Limbo and what tweaks to it you think might need to be made. As far as what you could replace his 1 ability with....I have no idea. Closest thing I thought of was making an AoE version of the ability that doesnt affect allies, but deals more damage than the current banishing mechanic (kinda like a void fireball).

Hello fellow Limbo! Nice ideas, I am okay with most of your changes... except the first. By putting Banish onto his passive and by extension his weapons, how exactly will it pan out? Have you thought about the ramifications of this change?

Here are some scenarios that I can envision:

  1. Limbo sweeping his Ignis or Soma across the screen, hitting enemies and bringing them into the rift. Now look at this from a teammate's perspective. How would you feel if you don't have a damaging ability handy to deal with a whole screen's worth of enemies burning in white flames?
  2. Hitting the same enemy with a rapid-fire gun... does it bring the enemy in/out of the Banish constantly?

Just some food for thought.

Hello and thank you for the feedback! honestly a good modification for that situation woud be to make it a 5 second duration upon being hit, and multiple shots just refreshes the clock each hit.
