Dex Sybaris (and some "upgrade weapon" issues in general)

So, the Dex Sybaris. It is statistically much better than the regular Sybaris, so in that regard I have zero problems with this weapon.

But (mind you that this is highly subjective) it has a few issues:

1) The sound
Imo, the regular Sybaris' firing sound is similar to what I'd expect from this kind of rifle, which sounds very nice. The Dex version though, sounds too highpitch, too "tinny", which I highly dislike.

2) The muzzle flash
I think the lotus muzzle flash is rather tacky. Not only that, but you cannot chance its colour by changing the energy colour.

3) The weapon's look in general
Personally, I much prefer the sleek, elegant and more robust look of the regular Sybaris. The Dex version to me looks very fragile and I really don't like the lotus symbol on top of it either.

4) Upgraded weapons' aesthetics in general
Once again, a subjective thing, but many people find a whole bunch of the upgraded versions of weapons (classic example being Paris Prime versus regular Paris) to have "inferior" aesthetics (both visually and audially). This can partially be solved with weapon skins, but not all weapons have access to a skin (and some are unfortunately locked behind Conclave, something I don't care much for personally), nor does it solve the audio-differences.

So, on to the suggestions:

1) The sound
How about allowing us to use the sound of the regular weapon on the upgraded version (or vice versa?), if you own both weapons? (Note: Not just for the Sybaris, but ALL weapons)

2) The muzzle flash
How about letting us use a regular muzzle flash on the Dex Sybaris, or at the very least, allow us to change the colour of it with energy colour?

3 + 4) Upgraded weapons' aesthetics in general
Similar to how we can use special skins to change the look of our upgraded weaponry (like using the Abra skin on the Paris Prime etc), how about also letting us use the REGULAR weapon's look on the upgrade version (for example, the regular Sybaris skin on the Dex Sybaris), if you own both versions? (Note: Not just for Sybaris, but ALL weapons)

Lastly, why do I think all of these things are so important?
'Cuz fashionframe (both in looks and in sound) is the only true endgame :P

1/3. I wish I were able to use my dex sybaris as a skin for current sybaris and possible future sybaris prime, and I really like the sound of the dex sybaris as it's my most used weapon.

2. The muzzle flash should change colour according to energy colour(

I'd agree with this.  Real-life lever-action rifles tend to have a nice sharp crack that you feel as much as hear (speaking from experience, having fired a few), but the Dex Sybaris has almost no bass, no impact.  It sounds like two sharp hits on a snare drum with an echo attached.

I'm quite fine with the Lotus muzzle-flash (c'mon, it's a Dex weapon, it's gonna be Lotus-branded out the wazoo).  The ability to color it according to our energy color would be nice though.

While I'd agree that it could use a bit of extra bulk and sturdiness, I'm quite okay with the Lotus ironsight on the back of it.  Again, it's a Dex weapon, one of The Lotus's signature guns.  It's gotta have her branding somewhere.

Codewise, I'm not sure how 'similar' the Dex Sybaris is compared to the original.  Can the Dex Sybaris use the regular Sybaris's skins?  I don't own the original, so I don't know.  If it's close enough that regular Sybaris skins can fit the Dex Sybaris, then I'd support letting you use the regular Sybaris's appearance as a skin on the Dex variant, much like you can use a regular Warframe's helmet on its Prime form.

1/3) Ofc it could go both ways (upgraded weapon's look on the regular version)

2) Hmm, I have a bright red energy on it, but it comes up as light purple.

1) Right? I have also shot with a whole bunch of rifles, and I can easily say that the Dex doesn't even seem to have the sound of a WEAPON being fired xD
Of all issues I mentioned, the firing sound is the one thing that TRULY bothers me about the Dex version. If only that could change, I'd be a very happy man :)

2) Visually, the flash's existence bothers me only a little bit. I'd prefer to have it removable, but if that's the only thing that couldn't be changed, I'd live with it. And apparently you can change the energy colour, but it doesn't work for me :(

3) I'm not asking for it to change, as there are also many that likes how it looks. And yes, it fits very thematically.

As for the skins, I think there is zero issue here. The Conclave skin can already be used on the Dex version, so they are indeed of the same "family".
I'd like for this idea of "base skin on upgraded version" to be a thing for EVERYTHING in the game:
* Regular weapon's look on the upgraded version (I.e using the Sybaris' regular skin on the Dex Sybaris, the Paris' regular skin on the Paris Prime, the Strun's regular skin on the Strun Wraith et cetera)
* Regular Warframes look on the upgraded version (we can already do it with the helmets, as you mentioned, but would also be nice to do it with the body. I'd, for example, use the regular Nekros skin on Nekros Prime, as I hate those wings and the finger-dangle-thing)
* Regular Sentinel look on the upgraded version (i.e. using the Carrier's regular skin on the Carrier Prime et cetera)
I think you get the picture, no? :)

The energy color of the muzzle flash is slightly bugged, it doesn't take energy color correctly.

 

As for its appearance, I actually like it, but if you don't, you can always get a skin for it. (Tennogen 'Overload' skin or the Conclave one)

 

The sound is alright in my book. That said, I would like to have the ability to choose which sound from all variants of a weapon in general (eg. Karak sound on Karak Wraith).

Ah, so not just me?

Well, one requires Conclave (big nope for me!) and the other requires using non-plat (I've spent too much already on this game heh), so neither of those are exactly great options (even if they indeed ARE options), especially so when I really like the regular Sybaris' skin the most anyway.
I can also agreed on the Karak's sound being better than Karak Wraith (especially that "near empty mag"-sound, it's really annoying). There are actually lots of weapons where I prefer the sound of the regular weapon version a lot more, now when I think about it :/

From what I noticed the flash tries to be the colour but has an issue with some of its particle. First being pink, yellow and then red.

re: the looks of the Dex Sybaris and using skins you can totally use the Steam Overload skin no problems at all.

I use it for all 3 appearance options on it.

IMO it looks so much better.

the screen cap was of Ivara but I grabbed it to show here anyhow since that is the Dex using the Overload skin. I can go in and take some new caps showing that it is the Dex Sybaris if that's needed for some reason.

Yeah, in the end, the visuals of it bothers me the least (as you CAN cover it up). But that sound ... no matter how much I like the weapon's handling (which is amazing), that horrible "tin" sound just makes me shelf it right away :/

So, at the very least, my suggestion #1 (being able to swap sounds around, kind of like skins, within a weapon family), is something I'd HIGHLY promote and even pay a whole bunch of platinum for!
