-Worry-

This news was...unexpected to Seth and Niveah's reaction just made him feel strange especially when he realised he was holding something that dashed such 'hope' these Tenno called, what was this feeling he was experiencing for the crying Tenno? Was this what they call Sympathy?

"Um..." Seth cleared his throat and looked to the child for a moment before saying to Dain and Niveah "I....You have my..." he looked to the child once more before saying with almost a hint of sorrow in his voice "I'm so sorry....for your loss..."

Seth held his stomach before stumbling the clinic for a moment to get whatever air there was in his lungs but it didn't help, his stomach felt twisted, his brain felt heavy, his breathing felt laborious and his saliva felt dry, This pestilence was something more than he had felt during his time on Europa.

He retched a bit then pulled his mask up to whatever there was to call a nose and rushed back into the clinic towards the nearest biological disposal bin or whatever was considered close to a toilet in the clinic and vomited into it before dropping next to it, still feeling confused and sick.

He coughed and wheezed a bit before grabbing his Radio and saying "Doctor Raam to Adalynn...if you're not busy....see me at the clinic." he groaned and stared into the distant metaphorical spaces of his mind...

With Seth calling out to Adalynn, it sounded fairly urgent. He sounded like he needed some help. Losing a person as a valuable as Seth would be a crushing blow to the team's morale, let alone impact performance. She did not want to lose another member of her team. Since the prison cells were coincidentally close to the medical clinic, it shouldn't be that far of a walk.

"Mercy, I have some other matters to attend to. Somebody needs my help." Adalynn spoke.

"Ah. Well, I can take this matter on my own then. I appreciate what you did out there." Mercy replied.

"Jacob, give Mercy some back up. Maybe you can help her in some way or another."

Valerie turned her head half over her shoulder, looking at the hostage that cursed at her without turning her back from him. Her eyes had a malicious sparkle, but her smile was less vicious than it had been before. "No, not the only thing. The first thing. But given how you were begging for your life just minutes ago, we're the same in that." She didn't even feel bad for poking into that probably horrible experience. He shouldn't have shouted at her. "And Tenno are just as diverse as humans. If you lump us together, should I assume all humans are victims or criminals? There are some who'll fit your romantic ideal of honor, don't you worry. Just don't look at me." The fact that her second statement kinda had some truth to it might just make the insult worse. But to her, honor was just another way of enslaving people's minds. Blackmailing them with their own conscience. Something that would hold her back.

When she heard Mercy say something about a caught Tenno, Valerie's attention was attracted.
"Oh, it's you! Damn, you look awful! They didn't prod you in the stomach, did they?" she asked, speaking the first thing that came to mind, directed directly at Xyrha. But then she was already being commanded away, and didn't appear to have any say in that. Pity. "Maybe we'll get to share a drink one day!" she called after the guards and their captive.

Adalynn pointed at the Saryn, her finger waving her over.

"You're coming with me. We're going to the clinic." The Nyx said bluntly.

After a brief jog, they'd reach the medical clinic, seeing Seth hungover a garbage can. A very much peculiar sight, but her eyes were affixed to the display of Dain and Niveah, with the doctor holding the baby. From the sounds of Niveah sobbing, it didn't look good.

Numb....

He felt numb. Cold, numb... The world was frozen. Frozen in a moment in time. The doctors sorrow filled face, the unmoving shape in his arms, Niveah's face caught between the joy of birth... and the utter, heart wrenching, despairing mix of horror and unknowable sorrow.

Then the moment broke, Niveah was in tears, Seth had vanished after an honest, if awkward, attempt of showing sympathy.

He did the only thing he could. He pulled Niveah into his arms, holding her close, letting her tears run down his armour. He was dimly aware of her pleading question, the question that every mother who lost a child at birth asked.

'Why? Why God have you taken my child from me? Why, before I ever had a chance to know them?'

'Why?'

His own tears began to flow, silent streams down his face, running into his regrowing stubble.

Over the shoulder of his crying love, he could see the doctor looking somewhat baffled. He could understand why. To see a Tenno breakdown so utterly was rare, and their actions before this hell in reality had crafted an image of unrelenting killers, some with honour, some without. But heartwrenching sorrow was not something a Tenno had shown before.

"We are still human," he said quietly to the doctor, voice raw with emotion. "In the end, the difference between Tenno and human is small. We love, we laugh, we cry, we hate." He ran a hand through Niveah's hair. "We really aren't that different." He focused back on Niveah, making comforting noises, sweet nothings slipping from between his lips.

What else could he do?

The Mesa's crying went on for a time, before turning into silent weeping. She rocked gently within Dain's arms. While she didn't hear all that much of Dain speaking, she did appreciate the moral support. Dain was her only silver lining, the only thing she had at this moment.

"Please... never leave me..."

She kept rocking within his arms, tears still flowing.

The Doctor put the baby in a small cradle, wrapping it in some cloth and blankets. His eyes closed and gave a light sigh of discomfort. Adalynn looked over to the doctor, slowly approaching.

"So... what are you going to do with the baby?" She asked quietly.

The Doctor didn't respond for a time, still trying to process what is happening. He never said anything, leaving the basket behind. Her eyes closed.

'When will things get better? Will they ever get better...'

'You just have to hold out with hope. It will get better before it gets worse.'

-Questioning-

A quiet, frustrated sigh escaped the thief's pursed lips shortly after her attempt to seize a guard's weapon had resulted in failure; her fingers were only able to graze the handle of the gun before her escort had pushed her away.

The sight of Feld's prison district loomed over Xyrha as she was unwillingly dragged through the main entrance, her hands clenched into tight fists as she pulled against her restraints. As the guards forced her through the hallways of the prison complex, she recognized the others from their previous encounter outside of the settlement; however, she hoped that they had not remembered her. Unfortunately, Xyrha's hopes were proven null, as Valerie had called out to her directly.

The Mag grit her teeth at the mention of her wound. As far as she knew, her captors were unaware of her injury. Seth's careful stitching and bandaging was hidden under a fabric scarf she had wrapped around her midsection. Xyrha could only hope that the guards had not heard Valerie, or that they disregard her statement. The last thing she needed right now was for her relentless captors to find out about her weakness. The Mag opened her mouth, about to respond to Valerie, but her escorts had once again proceeded to drag her off.

In the ensuing moments, the thief found herself forced to stand in front of the masked woman, whom she could only presume to be the one in charge. Xyrha stared at Mercy with an icy glare as the guards stated her misdemeanors. She was only able to mutter a sarcastic "Oops," before the masked woman barked out orders.

She frowned at the thought of being disarmed; not only did lacking weapons and proper means of defence cause the thief great anxiety, but she did not want to surrender her bow to anybody, nevermind her captors. Weapons could be easily replaced, but memories could not.

"She's going to have a little conversation."

Although Mercy's voice sounded rather innocent, these words did not sit right with Xyrha. Assumptions and possible implications floated through her mind, as worry and panic tightened their cold grip on her.

Once she was placed in what she assumed to be an interrogation room, the first thing the Mag did was attempt to kick at some of the furniture. Much to her dismay, the furnishings of the room appeared to be fastened to the floor. Letting out a quiet sigh, her eyes wandered around the room as she searched for something she might be able to use to aid her escape.

The room was a blank slate. The only thing that would be there would be the table and the chairs. A window could be seen, though determining its thickness or protective nature, it'd be hard to break through, given that they re essentially in a prison cell. Xyrha was trapped.

Mercy opened the door, closing it behind her and locking it.

"Please, take a seat." She said calmly. "The fact that you're acting shifty enough as is, gives me the impression that I should lock you up."

Mercy took a seat, clasping her hands, waiting for the rogue Tenno to take a seat. If she were to make any moves, mercy would be ready to take action.

How much salt can one rub into someone's wounds? Jacob was honestly baffled at the Tenno's cruelty and dreadful look on the world. Though he still believes she has simply been throught a lot and the road numbed her feelings, it didn't help the growing grudge he has against her. And how long was it since they met... a couple of hours?
...
About half an hour. He should look at his watch more often, which one would think to be relatively easy considering it's literarily pressed against his eye. What he'd do without that lens... still, time seems to stretch these days.

He looked back at the hostage, watching how his faith crubled away. Now how does that even benifit the Saryn user? Is her fun of other's suffering really worth her kind's reputation? How blind she must be.

"Don't judge a race by only one of them." he said, taking a peak over his shoulder at Valerie "I wouldn't judge anything by her."

Jacob's head snapped to the direction he heard his name from, and stood up, accepting his new task. He had nothing better to do anyway, and with the departure of Valerie that squeezed a sigh out of him, he got to it.

He got into the blank room before Mercy closed it, and the sound if it locking unsettled him a little. He wouldn't like this to become gruesome... even less so once he finally noticed the prisoner.

Had the Tenno really not learned her lesson? Not even an hour passed and she got caught again, this time by not as generous and forgiving people. But perhaps she is much more desperate that he though. Afteral, he can't see what she looks like under that frame. She could be starving for all he knew, or hiding more severe injury, maybe even be sick. Those thoughts got him to look at her with forgiveness again, but he could always be wrong.

"... I think it's important to note that we met her before today. Me and my group. Treated her wound, the one on her stomach." he spoke up. He knows how annoyed people can be by interruptions, so he'll make sure to do so only if it's important.

"I will never leave you," Dain said quietly to Niveah, the words full of love. He ran his hand up and down her back in a comforting motion.

Then, with merely a breath in warning, he began to sing. His voice was soft, a rumbling baritone.

"Never knew, I could feel like this,

Like I've never seen the sky before

Want to vanish, inside your kiss

Everyday I love you more and more.

Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing?

Telling me to give you everything

Seasons may change, winter to spring

But I love you, until the end of time."

Tears were beginning to drip down his cheeks, his heart, his soul, pouring out for the woman he held in his arms.

"Come what maaaaaay,

Come what maaaaaay,

I will love you, until my dying day."

((The song is Come What May from Moulin Rouge, sung originally by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor))

For Valerie, what she was doing wasn't necessarily about a benefit for herself. She was not a calculating type. In fact, most of the things she did were less thought-out than would be befitting for a Tenno.
It was the choice alone that mattered to her. She had gotten her fair share of unpleasant past experiences, but after the long life of a Tenno, the details had faded into the background. She had her way now, a way to deal with emotional baggage and harsh lessons that made other people into drama queens. And that way was ... well, this. Running free, leaving dents here and there around her just to prove that she's still able to.

Her back with the deadly-beautifully arced battleaxe did not turn again, and it was upright. If the Saryn was a prisoner of her past, she had made her ball and chain into a devastating flail. And at the moment, she felt quite good from swinging it around a bit. Cracking her fingers as if she had just rested well, she was addressed by Adalynn, and halted where she stood.
"Oy, little lady. You got a thing or two wrong there, I think." She said, in a far more serious tone now after she had stepped towards the Nyx. She didn't clench her fists, or gesticulate at her, but her gaze was fierce. As Adalynn might notice when holding the glare, Valerie was wearing a decent amount of makeup that gave her eyes strong contours - it adapted to her eyes' natural expression, which was mostly angry right now. "I'm not some dog you can command around as you please! I don't know if you put a nice little leash around your group's neck, but you sure as hell ain't putting your heel on me! I go with you when I feel like it, until I find something else to do that sparks me. You got that?" One could only worry how a fight between these two in this crowded area could turn out.

"But yeah, I got no interest in a questioning anyway. At least, not with the law and all that. I'm no judge." So, while pledging her disloyalty to Adalynn and her group, she still tagged along. Going aside them, instead of following, metaphorically speaking. A big difference to her, a splitting of hairs to someone else.
"But an executioner, maybe." She added, while walking, with a wink to Nyx that was rather vague and could mean all kinds of things, whatever you wanted to read into it.

When they reached the clinic, even Valerie immediately noticed something was wrong. The wretching Grineer was only a confirmation of the mood in the room. The atmosphere alone was enought to make one vomit. Valerie had a past of bloodshed and, yes, cruelty, but the sight of Niveah and Dain still left an impression on her, crying for a child that they never knew, even though it was obvious it had been theirs.
It felt right and wrong at the same time to Valerie. It was a warped image of her own childhood. It made her equally want to chop their heads off and hug them. She gritted her teeth and had to fight the urge to just storm out of the room, right back through the door she had just come through.

In a lowered voice, and to noone in particular but unable to keep the thoughts in, she murmured. "Man... what a screwed up way to die." From someone who used to melt people's faces off for a job, that's a handful. Stiffly, she stepped over to Niveah and Dain, and raised a hand to touch Niveah's shoulder, if she and Dain would let her. "Y'know... everything's pretty trash right now, so ... don't'cha think it would've died anyway, in a year or two? This ain't no world for children, and aren't you on the run or journey or something?"
Even after having thought about what she was going to say for a while after she came in, this was the best she could muster. It was choppy, and betrayed that she didn't really say what she was thinking. But that wasn't because she tried to lie or hide - there was just too much in her head right now to say anything of it. Damn, she wanted to get out of this room. Maybe all of them should. Find some skulls to bash, bombs to make. Did their ship have guns? Blasting a few asteroids might relieve the stress. Make up for the bad luck forced upon you with some definitely self-chosen indulgence.

Dain couldn't believe the words of Saryn wearing Tenno. Though he had to, very grudgingly and with much reluctance, admit there was a touch of truth to her words. This wasn't exactly a good time to raise a child. But tact, it seemed, was something that this Tenno lacked.

Dain's green eyes were like death rays on Valerie. Livid pools of emerald death boring into her. If not for the fact that Niveah needed him more, Valerie would have found herself ejected from the room. Through a wall if necessary. He wasn't angry, because the word 'angry' was fathoms below his level of incandescent, unadulterated rage.

He put that rage into two words, words that would have banished the Saryn to the orbit of Andromeda at the very least, were they capable of doing so.

"Get. Out."

"Get. Out."

The Saryn didn't flinch under Dain's devastating gaze, but she didn't feel comfortable either. She wasn't exactly startled or apologizing, but she didn't react immediately and had to actually think about what to do, what she wanted to do. That was the whole momentum of her life coming to a grinding, screeching halt. It was clearly visible on her face in those moments how shaken she was on the inside, thoughts stirred that she had rid herself of long ago.

Valerie imagined a part of her bow close to the Rhino and whisper an equally short response: "Make. Me." That part of her was bright ablaze. It was her ferocity and savageness, her lust for freedom, and her strength. It wanted to break free of the grave atmosphere, wanted to break herself and those around her free of the apathy that had befallen everyone present.
But in this moment, on this very rare and special occasion, it was held back by her more rational, more humane self, which still struggled to deal with the dead child, an incident so violently shocking, unlike anything she had witnessed in a long, long time.
Clinging to this raging strength had brought her this far, throughout trials and hardships. It had dug her from the deepest holes. Was it really that bad to follow it now, too? She could not find a reason against it, besides that gnawing lurch in her stomach.

Finally, she decided on what to do. She stepped away backward from the couple, just two small steps, and not in a fearful manner, clenched her jaw, and then glared around the room. "Fine, you're free to mourn all you want. You got the right to." She turned away, back towards the door where she had come through just a few moments ago, although it felt like much, much longer.
"But I know a thing or two about toxicity. Clinging to that body will only give you despair, weakness, then death. Stay here, pick your poison. I'll take your ship instead. Freedom at last."
Valerie tried so hard to put all energy that had not been sapped into those words, that she didn't hear how dead her own words sounded. She just left the room.

Outside, of course, she didn't go straight after the ship the group had arrived in. She hadn't planned to, either. She justed wanted to get them to move their sorry behinds, out of there, away from that. And if the result was a little brawl, she was fine with that. Maybe it would straighten out her own head, too.
She waited, in sight of the clinic door, leaned against something that was solid enough to hold her. Arms folded, she scurred on the ground with her foot and noticed that she had forgotten her helmet. She had put it on a table inside the clinic room when the shock had hit her. Hell naw, she wouldn't go back now. Maybe someone would bring it. If not, she'd return later.
