Quick Steel : A quick guide for new players

Question

Playing the Quick Steel Variant for the first time and you're new to Conclave? Here are a few tips to help you out!

Base mechanics :
1. All frames have 100 health that is non-regenerating and 1.0 Mobility.
-Health can be restored via health orbs, 30 health per orb, orbs respawn at fixed locations every 20 seconds, so don't hesitate to grab them when needed.
-Mobility is a stat in Conclave that determines how far your bullet jumps go, as well as roll distance & speed. Having 1.0 is equivalent to the base PvE Mobility, you can take a look at the distance travelled per point of Mobility here, distances traveled are equal to PvE.
2. No abilities or mods can be used in this Variant, so everyone has equal gear, and stats.
3. You have a faster recovery speed from knockdowns in Conclave by default, this variant is no different. Recovery speed is equivalent to having a 100% Handspring.
4. There is a 4-second window where knockdowns / impair status will not occur after the initial knockdown / impair, also known as Anticipation in Conclave (its also available as a mod to extend the duration in regular Conclave modes).
Impair is the Conclave equivalent of Stagger in PvE, Impair is slightly different as it disables jump and reduces running speed for 2 seconds, but does not force an animation so you could continue to perform actions without being interrupted.
5. Hikou Variant's utility stats are similar to the regular Hikou, same fire rate of 5.00 / second and a faster 100 m/s projectile flight speed.
6. Each match lasts 8 minutes instead of the regular 10.

Basic Attacks :
1. Regular fire on Hikou throws a single star, can be held down to fire continuously. These stars deal 35 damage each and has a 1.5x multiplier on headshots. (3 Hit KO, 2 on Headshots)
2. Alt fire on Hikou throws 5 stars in a horizontal fan. These stars deal 28 damage each and also has a 1.5x multiplier on headshots. (4 Hit KO, 3 on Headshots)
Note : You cannot use the Alt Fire if you have less than 5 stars, so be careful with your ammo consumption!
3. Melee strikes are a lunge attack that leaps up to 5m forwards (can be aimed mid strike) deals 100 damage (oneshot) on direct hits, and has a 3m knockdown AoE. Aerial slams are also deal 100 damage (oneshot) when connecting directly with targets.
Be careful not to spam the melee attack as it will queue up multiple strikes, so you will be locked into animations.
4. Aerial melee strikes deal 50 damage per strike.

Basic combos :
1. Direct hits on Aerial slam / regular slams = 1 hit ko
2. Regular slam into alt fire (Fan stars), if at least 3-4 stars hit = kill
3. Regular stars = 3 hit kill
4. Fan stars into slam (slightly faster than #2, slams can be performed instantly due to no recovery needed from Hikou's Alt fire, but also leave you open if they dodge the slam, use them as you see fit)
Comparison (Links only, gif embedding for forums is broken atm) :

5. Fan stars mid air = ~2 hit kills provided at least 2-3 stars hit per strike
6. Fan can 1 shot at close range (~5m), if your opponent is stuck in a melee animation, use it to your advantage and strike back with the Alt fire.
7. Aerial melee + fan stars both actions can be performed simultaneously, greatly boosts your damage. (Link only, gif embedding for forums is broken atm)

Misc. tips :
1. Keep moving, don't stay in one place for longer than you have to.

2. Regular attacks & aerial attacks originate from the left of the Warframe, slide attacks originate from the right. Crouching while firing is the most consistent way to throw Hikou stars, but also leave you open if you're not careful with positioning.

Wait! Do all Warframes have the same mobility? Even the fast ones like Banshee? Those YouTube MLG pro gameplay videos made it seem like the lighter Warframes run faster (and aim better). Hmm.

So it really comes down to what Warframe special ability you want to use as your "tactical" grenade?

Is that why I see mainly see:

Noob players using Volt or Mag

Average players using Excaliburs

Camper players using Rhinos

Close Quarter Parkour players using Valkyr

MLG Players using Banshee or Ivara
