Inconsistency would imply that these patterns are frequently broken and often without cause. This is the first time DE has made an event reward tradable after the event, ergo, less of an inconsistency issue and more of either an oversight (due to this being the first time we have a blueprint) or them trying something new.

No inconsistency here. Its the first time this has happened. By your logic doing anything different, ever,  would be inconsistent.
