Infinite flickering screen in solo mode

When playing solo and pressing escape just when the screen starts flickering, due to some enemy fraction invading, the screen will not stop flickering as long as the game is paused. While this isn't a pressing issue as it has to be timed perfectly and is therefore very unlikely to happen, it could conceivably cause harm to people with photosensitive epilepsy.
