Newnight Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I am aware that crit pistols aren't the only weapons in warframe , but they are usually the most well liked. I was looking through my pistols and kinda noticed that they can usually be modded the same way with with: PTC, PPG, PHG, LT, BD, HS, two 90% mods( corrosive always) or the same way but with the 60% variants if its status enough and I rarely ever try modding them differently ( cept aklexp cause of that recoil). So i am asking, does anyone mod the weapon different to be just as effective, more effective, or mod it for a specific frame's needs?
Cyborg-Rox Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Some weapons have just way too many problems to fix along with both crit mods. In my case, Wraith Twin Vipers. Great damage, fire-rate, crit potential, but terrible recoil, magazine size, and ammo efficiency. So what I did was, I got a Riven that could replace 3 of the mods I would use, and that let me put on everything I wanted, while still keeping the DPS good.
taiiat Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 for a lot of Weapons, Primed Heated Charge when it's not your primary Elemental is very hard to justify over Punch-Through... (and Corrosive Fire vs Armored Enemies is terrible, Corrosive Ice is better - if you're stripping the Armor first so that the Fire Damage doesn't do effectively zero Damage you wouldn't be using Corrosive Fire vs Grineer/ Corrupted anyways) opting out of Punch-Through is... honestly i'd say it's just bad but it would be okay i guess if you're permanently turning Enemies off so that you can play a shooting gallery the entire Mission. but more to answer the question - when facing Armored Enemies, i often end up dropping Crit Damage for a secondary Elemental so that i do acceptable Damage to both Armor Types, instead of plinking on some of the Enemies.
(PSN)robotwars7 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 nah, I usually prefer to play to a weapon's strengths, especially on Crit ones since I love those bigger numbers. however, I have explored alternate builds, they just aren't as fun for me. if you get a decent Riven though, you can have the best of both worlds: passable crit on a status weapon, and added elemental sting to crit weapons.
AzoreanEve Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) The only deviation I ever did was put, instead of primed heated charge, creeping bullseye. On Euphona Prime. Then I got a Riven that was basically creeping bullseye but better and without the negative fire rate and now i use that. Everything else I keep the standard builds. Crit is a bit dull to use and build (imo) on non melee weapons, but it sure can be effective. Up to a certain point. Edited April 29, 2017 by AzoreanEve
Gravitus123 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Depends on the weapons stats. If it has like 20% status chance and decent firerate i will use dual stat mods instead of 90% elemental ones but the crit mods pretty much stay the same
(XBOX)Bortis Badtouch Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 this is my vaykor marelok, i built it for hybrid damage http://warframe-builder.com/Secondary_Weapons/Builder/Vaykor_Marelok/t_30_22222300_193-1-5-204-0-10-206-2-5-263-6-3-328-7-3-487-5-9-543-4-10-605-3-10_204-7-193-6-206-6-605-7-543-6-487-8-263-7-328-7/en/3-0-53
Zeyez Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 its hard to do it, because of the problems you already pointed out: too many mandatory mods, too little slots
Sakatchi Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 You're pretty much stuck with +crit +crit damage multishot and 3 90% elementals for max damage or if you're feeling crazy 3 60% status 60% damage mods. Because there's no current better way to build crit pistols.
(XBOX)ThermalStone Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Primed Heated Charge is the only optional mod in that build because heat isn't the best element. That is a lot of extra damage you're giving up for fire rate or punch through or whatever though. Otherwise get a riven that can replace something (usually an element) while adding something useful (usually more crit or multishot).
