I'm assuming it was the one where you could have a single excavator completed and just wait for Ambulas to appear. The enemies and Ambulas still scaled though, so it wasn't a very good exploit. I'm assuming the reason only the other exploit was addressed with the scores being reverted is because it was probably what lead to solo players hitting thousands of beacons in one run. I still don't know what that one is though...

GG RIP stacking/repeated spawns after activating just one node. Sucks for those of us that didn't take advantage of it.

(Edit): Fix the leaderboard scores if you are going to do that. The top scores should have at least 10.8 hrs of in mission time with those kinds of scores. Which means they obviously exploited to obtain them. Honestly, i would find it hard to believe that most would go above 300 considering how long it takes.

Well I don't think it's an exploit. You can do almost the same thing with defense missions. Slow enemies down and kill only the ones who get near the crypod. More than one Ambulas spawn occurs each 5 waves.

I think I have completed 500+ trials since that patch... All those lost credits that could go into more pedestal primes / fireworks

Ambulas spawns based on duration, not based on waves or anything like that from my experience. For all we know, the fix might have changed that spawning behavior, which would make that not work on defense either. Still, I don't really see how it's an exploit when it comes to defense, considering you're still completing the mission while fighting Ambulas.

I just started my first Excavation before this hotfix went live.  And the main issue it had was that the power carrier guys didn't seem to be spawning much at all.  Lost more than one of the drill things as it was only crewmen turning up for ages, chipping their health away.

DE, if you fix exploits, please do remove people that abused it from leaderboards, it's not fair to other clans trying to get high scores playing fair.

It would be nice if the new spawn mechanics would be made public. I'm sure everybody would like to know how many waves / excavators / minutes they need to do before they get a new spawn.

what a dumb thing changing the spawning rules in the middle of the event. with that shady move the devs simply cut off everybody who try to beat the exploiter's score. basically they conserved the ending result with this patch. So thats how DE imagine the fair play clan/personal scores. Officially support the exploiters/cheaters. At least with that fix, u should have reset the whole score lists as well or dont change the spawning rules at all in the middle of an event!! Only fix crashes and game breaking bugs and next time test ur feature more. gg that was a fair play. smart

It was considered an exploit because you could AFK stack the spawns. In defense if you afk'd for 3 spawns then the defense target would probably be dead. You also have to consider that none of the enemies in the area, aside from the boss, would increase and it wasn't by much. So, yea, it was an exploit because you could AFK then come back and kill 3 then afk and come back and kill 3 rinse/repeat. The reason you could AFK is honestly DE's fault though because the region has many areas where players can go that enemies won't go to. Yea, you could argue that the boss level is rising and work is still needed for a reward but it was still a bug that was being taken advantage of. Ambulas spawns are suppose to be limited based on mission advancement.

TBH, if they are going to fix this then they need to solve the scoring on the leaderboards as well because there is absolutely no way any of those top scores are legitimate. (The top score would require around 260 spawns which is a minimum of 10.8hrs in mission time)

Wait, you could AFK stack the spawns? Apparently I did not know the exploit at all. I can definitely see how that is a problem, I imagine the Ambulas level did not increase as you afk'd? Also, I'm all for resetting the leaderboards, definitely seems shady to me.
