It was almost a relief to find someone else alive, even if they were a little off their rocker. But go down into the mad scientist's lair unarmed? Drei wasn't the best decision maker around but even he had a little bit of sense. Sure, maybe the fellow was right, he was kind of stuck. But he had to get what he came for, or at least try to.

He'd have to get through the quarantine area to reach the armoury. Now a lot calmer, Drei got to work, slowly tugging and prying at the wreckage using his meat hook like a mattock. Noise was inevitable, but with a mass of metal wreckage between him and any potential attacker he was feeling a little more confident.

The wreckage shudders a bit, but is lodged tight.  It seems it would be easier to move it from the other side.  The voice laughs again, the image following it with some latency.  "so, you think you can-can-can-can-can get out?  Good one.  Well, until you've decided to go down to the super secret labs, I'll just bounce around the ship-shi-shi-shi-shi-shi-ship."  The screen flickers off, the lift still running.

Ignoring the man's taunts, Drei paced around his limited confine, all the while tugging fruitlessly at the compacted mass of metal debris in his way. Like hell he was going to go back there with only a meat hook in his hand. And it didn't even have any meat on it.

Peering more carefully over the barricade, Drei could just discern the corridor that went through the quarantine area. What did the area actually quarantine anyway? If this sector was blocked off, could there be survivors safe on the other side? He weighed his options and decided to do as follows. Call out for help, and if anything came running that wasn't human, he'll have to take up the mad scientist or cultist or colonist or whatever on his offer. Sounded solid. Well, more carefully planned than any of his other actions leading up to this point at least.

Clambering precariously between some rather sharp-edged rails, Drei raised his voice to the corridor beyond. "Hello? Anyone there? Need assistance over here, at the elevator..."

"Please?"

Right, then.  The lift was most certainly not something she trusted at the moment.  She decided to look inside the quarantine rooms to see if anything had breached containment.

The doors connecting each room have all been opened, allowing her to walk around the fallen rack.  It seems that the others' luck had run out, given the corpse chopped in half by the door, and another embedded in the wall.  a small video recorded had fallen out of the pocket of one of them, and now lays between the two, the power light still blinking.

Lucy picked up the device and sat down next to the unfortunate soul it belonged to.  Turning the volume down to a single click above silent, she hit the playback button.

His own echo is all that answers him.  That and a sharp creaking from the vents above.  wires spark, sending a quick flash onto the darkened corners, but otherwise the room is silent.

It buzzes at first, then the last message starts playing. the voice is shaky, as if nervous or tired, and that of a young man. "If anyone gets this message, then either we're found, or you survived.  Either way, this ship cannot be salvaged.  It must not be docked, and it must never leave the cold vacuum of space.  when the first alarms rang out, it was from a containment breach from the lower decks.  One of they're 'safe' projects going haywire again.  Only this time, people started getting infected by something.  eventually, the medical team managed to get a sample.  It was partly human, but mostly infested bio mass.  It didn't seem to spread, but as more and more people were infected, quarantine was issued into effect.  Then we found out what was causing it."  A long sigh follows, then a loud scream and inhuman laughing.  "there is something on this ship.  Some creature, some monster, I don't know.  But, it has some sort of poison.  And, I don't think we can kill it with the gear on this ship.  Not from the upper decks."  It clicks off after more screams emit from the speakers.  A dead battery image plays, then the screen goes black.  The door leading to the next quarantine room is halfway opened, jammed by what appears to be a bone.

Drei cursed loudly. Was he really alone on this entire floor? Not like he expected a welcome party, but the solitude and disappointment of not being able to get what he came for was getting to him. A clash of metal on metal resonated down the quarantine corridor as he bitterly struck at the piled wreckage before him with the implement in his hand. Maybe he wasn't actually alone, but was being ignored for some reason. But why? Perhaps this barricade was intentionally set up, and not worth removing just for his passage through. He couldn't fault that thinking.

Turning around slowly(and rather dramatically), Drei stared at the open lift. The only way seemed to be down now, into the mad scientist's lair. Was he even a scientist though? Drei was making a bold assumption, but the man did sound like one at least. As for what to expect down below... maybe it'll be like one of those gauntlet sequences in those movies where he'd be locked in with a bunch of bizarre hybrid monsters that he'd have to fight through. Except the heroes of said movies usually had some kind of weapon, which was more than he could say for himself.

Taking one last look over his shoulder at the empty and quiet corridor, Drei stepped into the lift and reached to hit the panel.

One of the bodies has a broken respirator, the filters both cracked open.  The room has one kiosk, but nothing else seems to work.  The body outside the window thuds against the screen, a rifle floating into view from behind it.  the kiosk, once it hums to life, is an information terminal, with random facts and trivia about the ship and the research operation to the various moons.

Dark looks onto the terminal searching for the armory. "I need a weapon badly." He thinks.

"Ohh yay," she said under her breath.  Standing, she moved toward the wedged door and looked through the opening, gauging whether it was a good idea to go through.

The lights flickered on and off as the doors closed, and the lift descended.  As it passed the middle decks, the screeched to a halt, then drop the last few meters, slowing rapidly just before it reached the bottom.  The doors opened to reveal lights flickering on and off, with blood smeared across the walls and floor, computers trashed and cabinets crushed.  A ways down the hall the lights shown steady through a set of double doors, blood smeared down one of them, with a body laying in front of it.

There is a section of files labeled 'for authorized personal use only.'  It requires a pass code, which is unknown to dark.  Creaks echo down the hall, followed by fleeting footsteps.  the sounds draw closer to the room that dark is in.

on the other side is another quarantine room, the exit door open.  It seems that this room is on the other side of the wreckage, and also had a patient.  The former patient is laying in the doorway, the upper half outside the room.  it is remarkably clean, save the bloodied gauze on the bed.

Lucy took a closer look at the former patient to identify what happened to them.

The patients head is split open, the blood and brain spilled outward, as if a sharp rod had been dragged through it. The hallway to the lift is mostly clear, as is the passageways bypassing the lift.

No point in being quiet now, the elevator had made enough noise during its descent. Tightening his grip on his weapon, Drei stepped slowly toward the double doors, pausing to take a knee by the body on the ground. Perhaps going all coroner on it while he had time could shed some information on what he was dealing with.

The person is a man, and elderly, wearing a lab coat.  the back of his head has been cracked open, as if he was slammed against the door with some force.  through the doors are multiple glass rooms, like prison cells.  each one holding something humanoid; the one on the far left is muttering something in a foreign language.  the cell closest to Drei shudders as the person (lizard?) inside pounds against the glass wall.

Would the glass give way now? It hadn't earlier, but perhaps it would now at the sight of fresh prey, prey being himself. Patting down the dead man's body for access cards and the like, Drei got back to his feet and stepped slowly past the glass chambers, hoping that he wouldn't end up the next specimen in this freak show.

"YOU!"  The creature in the glass room yelled, and stopped pounding.  "I hasn't seen you down here before.  Do you has key-card?"  The figure is covered in brown robes, concealing a partially scaled face.  There are other glass rooms, like prison cells, each one with a different creature.  The farthest room sits a young boy, in fetal position, wearing a black jumpsuit with blue glowing lights; a transference suit.

There is one passage that bypasses the lift, circling around.  The lights are off in this hallway, with broken glass covering the floor.  A rapid sound of footsteps echoes through the hall, followed by a heavy screeching sound, like a jammed door being pried open.

Drei was relieved on several counts at the creat-, man's outburst. It could talk, so he finally had something to talk back to. It asked a question, so it must be capable of some independent thought. And it wasn't baring fanged grins and threatening to show him the colour of his viscera. That part was a little more important than the rest.

"Keycard?" Drei asked in reply. "Nope. You need me to let you out with one, is that it?"

Glancing over his shoulder at the boy at the far end of the chambers, he added. "And who is that?"

The man looked down slightly, saddened by the lack of keycard.  "Oh, don't pay 'em no mind.  He's just the Void child who the mad doctor tricked.  Won his trust, took his frame for a test, then clubbed 'em on is head.  Studied 'em, more than the rest of us."  The man looked back up, partly crouched, and pointed to the back of the room.  "The doctor didn die.  He left.  he took the void child's blood and left.  HE let the creature out.  For fun, methinks."  He walked to the back of his cell and sat on the bed, looking very relaxed, despite the situation.  "you eveh see people die of oxygen deprivation?"

The man was much more amicable than he had expected. Perhaps Drei should make an effort to help him after all.

"Nope, fortunately." Drei answered. "Say, this keycard you mentioned. Where do you think I can find one?"

Lucy attempted to make her way through the hallway without making any sound, going so slowly that she wasn't sure she was even moving at times.  Until she knew what was making the noise, it was better to not make any herself.
