The mass of wreckage in the hallway is filled with plenty of sharp objects, though most of them are still attached to the ship. One peice lays on the other side of the fallen rack, partially lodged underneath it.

Well, it wasn't like Dave was going to mind if his body got a bit more mangled than it already was.  Moving to the rack, Lucy tried to hoist it high enough to pull the piece free with her foot.

The rack moves up a few inches, and the shrapnel drops.  It is to far on the other side to reach without going either over or around the rack.  The quarantine rooms can be seen on the other side, as well as a flickering sign that reads LIFT.  power surges throughout the room, and a door hisses open, the sound coming from one of the quarantine rooms nearby.

dark wakes up groggy.

Light fires still crackles along the edges of the walls, and a variety of control panels spark.  Judging by the jutting pipes and coolant leaks, he was in the cryogenics bay.  the power surges back on for a moment, causing another coolant chamber to rupture.  It seems that some people tried to hide inside the tubes, a plan which didn't go so well for them.  A body lays next to dark, it's head torn open, as if it was ripped apart with nothing but hands.  Or claws.

the temperature of the room starts to drop rapidly as another coolant cell breaks. A rapid scamper of something crawling through the lower vents comes from the floor, and moves to the room closest to the bow of the ship.

Inside the top desk where the body lays is a journal. It is covered in blood and partially burned, but still legible. Everything else is just a collection of office supplies and stress relievers.  The journal's cover has the words I'm sorry written on it.

Was it storytime? Being rather empty-pocketed at the moment(his mobile was in the dormitory), he slipped the journal into his jumpsuit for a bit of light reading(inwardly questioning his literary tastes as he did so), along with a wire cutter and a stress ball that he couldn't help but think might come in useful at some point.

It was then a thought occurred to him. Did the ship have an armoury? He knew there was a guard barracks, but hadn't actually been out of the kitchen during mealtime to see security personnel dining. Were the ship's internal defenses fully automated or did they have manpower for the job? This time searching more carefully, Drei looked through the logs and the terminals, looking for details of any patrol schedules, personnel rotations and more importantly what he was looking for - a well-stocked armoury. Not that he was thinking of fighting off an overrun vessel of some alien lifeform or escaped specimen or whatever, but that there might be like-minded survivors and fighting-fit guards who were thinking of the same thing and might have holed up there.

One of the files on the computer is labeled "Ship's map." It seems that who ever owned this computer wasn't very good at remembering where things were.  the armory station is on the upper level, towards the back of the quarantine station.  the lift is further ahead, through the medical bay.  There is also some personal video logs, and a pong game app.  As power surges through the ship, the computer all hum on to life before sparking and shorting out.  the one with the map is all that remains.  A sign flashes at the end of the room:  Med Bay/Lift Access

He ducked instinctively as power returned to the ship and the failing lights blinked back into life once more. With a vague course mapped out in his head, Drei took a last, sweeping look around the room before making his way toward the medical bay. He definitely didn't like the sound of that though. If antique sci-fi horror flicks and video games taught him anything, it was that the infirmaries and medical bays were always some of the worst places to go.

Making sure to keep to the rapidly vanishing darkness and his back to the wall, Drei left the room.

The med bay was rather close to the office room, almost as if the office was just an extension of it.  It was oddly clean, with no corpses or bodies to be seen.  Everything was neat and in order, and the room looked as if it was either bypassed completely, or if nobody got the chance to get here.  The only thing out of place was the shattered one way mirror, revealing a room with a large, sparking crate, as if it was very recently protected by an electric barrier.  The is a syringe holder, but no syringe.  There is nothing else inside the crate, or inside the room for that matter.  The medical bay is, except fro the slight humming of the A/C, dead silent.

Right, then.  The lift was most certainly not something she trusted at the moment.  She decided to look inside the quarantine rooms to see if anything had breached containment.

The doors connecting each room have all been opened, allowing her to walk around the fallen rack.  It seems that the others' luck had run out, given the corpse chopped in half by the door, and another embedded in the wall.  a small video recorded had fallen out of the pocket of one of them, and now lays between the two, the power light still blinking.

Still not quite ready to let his guard down just yet, Drei suppressed a sigh of relief. The extended room beyond the mirror was unusual, but the crate was void of anything useful to him at the moment. Searching the room for painkillers, dressings and even scalpels and coming up empty-handed, Drei groaned softly in disappointment and continued onward toward the direction of the lift. It was possible that the pharmacy wasn't actually attached to the medical bay and he hadn't quite made a point to look out for it on the map, since he had assumed that there might be ample drugs inside the bay itself. But he was not about to turn back and check. In fact, the pristine nature of the room in contrast to the other areas made him rather uncomfortable and eager to leave.

Meat hook still in hand, Drei pressed onward toward the lift, hoping that it was functional. The stairway access sounded deadly with its confined spaces, and he hoped to avoid that as much as he could.

The lift was right near the center of the Med Bay, the door covered in blood, but still functioning.  Inside, the panel has two options; upper decks, lower decks.  A banging sound echoes throughout the room, and the lights flicker out.  A loud roar soon follows, along with the thud of a vent being knocked down.  A thump as something lands behind the lift, and a guttural growl as the creature draws closer.

Slumped against a low crate, Drei controlled his breathing the best he could. He gauged the distance between him and the lift, which was just barely over a leap away. He was sure that he had remained quiet for the most part, but wasn't sure if the creature was aware of his presence. If it came closer, he could make a dash for the lift. But staying alive would depend on how fast the lift doors could close after a floor was pressed.

Curling his legs behind him into a crouch, he prepared to take off if it found him first.

Soft footsteps can be heard as the creature walks around the lift, and then a slight scraping noise as it picks something off the ground.  The object flies across the room, banging into the wall behind Drei, and then the creature emits a noise that could be a chuckle.  it continues to walk closer to where Drei is crouched, leaving a clear path to the lift, as if it was taunting him.

His nerves broke before his voice did. Heart in his throat, Drei sprang from his hiding place, reaching the lift in four wide steps. He extended the handle of his weapon and struck the panel with surprising accuracy, hitting the upper floor. Breaking momentum by turning and slamming his back into the lift wall, he watched the doors begin closing, and the monstrosity beyond them.

With limited knowledge of the ship's interior, Dark soon finds himself in the observatory room.  The large glass wall letting viewers feel exposed to the harsh vacuum, the soft mood lighting surrounding it, and the few vents providing a cool breeze throughout the room are all meant to edge the feeling of being in space.  the few mangled corpses are all that remain of those who still enjoy the view.  A space-walker floats across the window, moving slowly, the body limp, and the face obscured by the spiderweb of cracks on the visor.  An eye floats along side, the tendon still reaching into the suit.

Dark looks for gear on the bodies then looks for a terminal while he is listening for anyone.

The creature sprints towards the door, but stops in front of it.  As the doors finish closing, it flashes a grin, wide, showing semi-white teeth that have been filed into fangs.  the doors hiss shut, and the lift whirs to life as it ascends the decks.  Soft elevator muzak plays through the speakers, and the lift screeches to a halt at the upper decks, the outer doors struggling to open, one of them staying halfway closed.   This area is covered in wreckage, but lacks the body parts that others contained.  Shelves lay over, dangerously sharp bars jutting out from each one, and the collection of items they once held were spilled and shattered across the floor.

Drei finally allowed himself to breathe heavily as the elevator ascended up the shaft. That was closer than he would have liked. Granted, he had been face to face with all manner of aggressive wildlife as a teen, but those were animals he knew and understood. These creatures, which he at least knew to be humanoid, likely even once human - he didn't know enough of their physical capabilities, their behavioural patterns(except that they probably enjoyed detaching heads from torsos).

By the time the doors(well, one of them at least) opened, he had regained his composure and stood ready to take on the world with his pitiful weapon extended bravely in front of him. Assessing the area as quickly and calmly as he could, he took extra care to ensure that the stairway access to the lower floor remained blocked by debris, then searched for a sign somewhere that indicated which corridor led towards the armoury. Maybe by grabbing a roll of duct tape from a maintenance shelf he could attach a screwdriver to his trusty meat hook - and with a bit of elbow grease, dig his way through the wreckage that may or may not have been an intentional barricade in about twenty days or so.

Nah. Drei was kind of stuck. And calling for help didn't quite seem like a bright idea either.

Blue lights flicker through the room, and laughter emits from hidden speakers. A crackly, yet smooth voice follows.  "well well then, looks like the weasel's stuck-stuck-stuck-stuck-stuck."  It rapidly glitches over the last word, as if it wasn't completely intact.  "Ha.  Tel you-you-you-you what.  I'll let you down into the laboratory.  Even grant you some extra access to the lab-lab-lab-lab-lab chambers."  A screen hums to life in the lift, showing a pixelated face of a young yet grizzled man.  "Maybe even tell you about my old se-se-se-se-se-self.  Or not-not-not-not-not."  The man smiles, the face shockingly similar to the creature's.

It was almost a relief to find someone else alive, even if they were a little off their rocker. But go down into the mad scientist's lair unarmed? Drei wasn't the best decision maker around but even he had a little bit of sense. Sure, maybe the fellow was right, he was kind of stuck. But he had to get what he came for, or at least try to.

He'd have to get through the quarantine area to reach the armoury. Now a lot calmer, Drei got to work, slowly tugging and prying at the wreckage using his meat hook like a mattock. Noise was inevitable, but with a mass of metal wreckage between him and any potential attacker he was feeling a little more confident.

One of the bodies has a broken respirator, the filters both cracked open.  The room has one kiosk, but nothing else seems to work.  The body outside the window thuds against the screen, a rifle floating into view from behind it.  the kiosk, once it hums to life, is an information terminal, with random facts and trivia about the ship and the research operation to the various moons.
