Relic system : A disaster in the long run

The relic system is only going to have to be reworked. As time goes on, you're going to be scrolling through more and more relics during endless missions. They're going to have to increase the timer for selecting one to a minute, as eventually, you'll have 50+ relics from any one era.

It would be a much nicer system if relics were spread out throughout the star chart into missions like capture, exterminate, etc instead of most of them being behind Rot B/C of endless missions.

Here's the drop locations for Oberon Prime Chassis relic:

As many others point out, the old key problem of "prime parts being put into Rot C" has simply moved from getting prime parts to getting relics.

The intent with the relic system was never to reduce grind. The intent was to make more grind feel like less grind. More layers, more time spent on average. Without making it feel like it.

Steve and Scott used a specific sentence : "We want to reduce grind fatigue". They never said "We want to reduce grind". See the difference? Basically, the system is still cancer. You just get painkillers to make it less painful. Problem with painkillers is you end up developing a resistance to them.

Making it so that each mission has a drop table of two relics would defeat the very purpose of the relic system in the first place. DE said that the relic system was partly to reduce the grind, but mostly to reduce boredom and fatigue of doing the same thing over and over. The reason relics drop in so many places is so you have a choice of where to go and what to do to get it. It's the same with the fissures – they're random, so there's actually not really that much choice, but they take you all over the solar system to planets you might never have gone back to. You have diversity of mission types and tilesets instead of staring at those golden halls for hours. Even if you don't like the particular mission type, you only have to wait, like, an hour for it to change. So to get the relic in the first place, you have so many missions in so many places to choose from. Limiting the relic for, say, Oberon Prime neuroptics behind a spy mission and a sabotage mission means you're SOL if you don't like those two mission types.

Now, of course, this reasoning doesn't reflect how the system currently works. Anyone who's looked at the drop tables knows that some missions have a drop chance of 5% and others 12% for the same given relic. The most efficient ways to get relics is defence or interception on, like, 3 missions total. But this isn't a flaw in the system design, it's more of execution. The drop chances can be tweaked and things like ammo mutation mods can be taken out of the drop tables, to give truly equal drop chances (if this is truly what DE wants, as they say). Then, you can choose whichever mission type you want, as DE intended, and I think that would be in everyone's interest. DE said from the start that it was all about choice. Your suggestion removes so much of the choice from the process.

And still, even with the current system, if you're like me and you hate interception and love spy, then you still can get the relics you want decently fast.

Still, we need Axi relics from Spy missions. I was hoping Kuva Fortress, which has kind of like harder puzzles would do so, but it's all Meso and Neo and no Axi.

We need Axi to drop from Spy and maybe even rarely from Captures too. Or as an alternative 3 cache rewards from Sabotage.
