Question

**DISCLAIMER**

If you have never done the Law of Retribution or are not very familiar/experienced, I suggest not reading further as I will not be explaining fundamentals and only how to speed run this trial. If you need a fast guide on fundamentals, a good video can be found here.

No one under any circumstance should be looking for rares at all during the entire Trial if you are serious about going as fast as you can. It is your choice if you want to slow down and look for rares, but if you are the type that takes this stuff seriously, you should mention this fact to your group before starting.

Intro:

This guide will help those who are experienced with the Law of Retribution and want to become faster and more efficient. I will explain each stage with small tips to improve your times and become faster. I will also be showing off the builds necessary and team composition. Hope this guide helps and I will be updating this thread should updates change this strategy guide. Enjoy!

Setup and Builds:

The setup for your team will consist of the following:

4 Man Speedrun

  • 2 Nova
  • Volt
  • Trinity (Hybrid)

8 Man Speedrun

  • 2 Nova
  • 2 Volt
  • 1 Free Space (Loki (Disarm), Banshee (Sonar/Quake), Oberon (for magnetic proc resistance in transport stage))
  • 1 Stomp Rhino
  • 2 Trinity
    • 1 Bless
    • 1 EV

**Note: In an 8 man team, one of the Volts should use Sprint Boost as the aura mod and other Volt should use Corrosive Projection. In a 4 man team, Volt should have Corrosive Projection.

No matter how many players enter the Trial, 4 players should always have Corrosive Projection as their aura mod, and the rest should be using Sprint Boost or Enemy Radar in the case of EV Trinity.

**Important: ALL players regardless of role should have Energy Restores, especially the Novas.

Host is always Nova, and the Novas should be using worm hole as their main parkour throughout the trial.

Stage 1:

In the first stage of this Trial, the Novas should start the game by using a few Energy Pads and proceeding ahead of the team. Each Nova should use a different pad to open the door and portal to the opposite hack. Left pad should take right hack and right pad should take left hack. Nova is the primary bomb carrier, but not exclusively. Other players can always grab the bomb if applicable. Volt should place shields at each injector after 60% charge with a slight angle pointing at the ground. This ensures the player with the bomb does not kill themselves. Rinse and repeat until all 4 injectors are killed.

If you are Nova and need help with a stage 1 start check out this video:

9 Second LoR Start

Stage 2:

Security Stage:

During the second stage, Novas should be using Worm Hole to hacks and taking pads. Each Nova should claim if they have the front (where the door to transport is) or the back (where you enter the security stage). Rhino should take over a middle pad to ensure the entire room has CC. Rinse and repeat until all hacks and pads are complete and players proceed to the transport stage. Below is a quick map to help memorize where callouts are:

Transport Stage:

At the transport stage, players should take pads and double up while the host drives the core. It is the hosts duty to call when electricity is cleared. Rhino should always be taking the pad that provides the most CC while they are on said pad. Proceed to the end of the stage and extract the core. If nightmare mode, second nova (not the host) should be hacking all doors open. Doors should all be hacked before second clear. Doubling up on pads is a must. The only player that does not need to take a pad is the host (no exceptions). The host should be making callouts after every clear. Below is a quick depiction of this stage:

Stage 3:

During the final stage, all players should go to the arena (no one should be looking for rare crates/sculptures at this time). Novas will always arrive first due to worm hole, and they carry the bomb. A pre-planned tower strategy should already be in place as way-pointing towers wastes time (below is an example of the strategy I use, it also is not mine). The players that are behind nova should be taking pads to open doors for the bomb carrier. Rhino should stomp for CC once only just after a bomb drop. Players should be killing Hyekkas and Hyekka Masters constantly as those enemies can prevent the bomb from spawning. Bless Trinity should ensure the Novas have Bless so that they can immediately shoot bombs and not die. They should also be aware of Nullifiers in stage 3 as they take away Bless. After all towers are complete, players can kill Vay Hek and complete the Trial.

Examples of good runs:

LoR Speedrun 2

Conclusion:

Getting faster in the Law of Retribution is not super intimidating or hard, but it requires practice for Novas. The Novas are the most essential part to your speed and time, so if you plan on tackling that challenge, you can practice stage 1 start on Earth spawn tiles, and Stage 3 on Mars tiles. Good Luck!

EDIT: This guide will be largely expanded in the future with many more details and strategies. It might take some weeks but stay tuned for something much more in depth.
