Pardon the poor attempt at coming up with catchy title. With some nudging from those that I've delved with in past/current RPs, I've decided to take a tentative first attempt at a plot of my own. As it's my first go a such an endeavor, I'm not imagining it's going to be a blockbuster of a story in terms of size (aiming for something like a short story, but we'll see how it goes), but I hope the quality will be alright.

Disclaimers:

This is going to take place post-U18. Pre-U18 chars aren't barred, but know that running into said post-U18 chars and themes is going to be a thing. That being said, if you can make it work without breaking the plot and it's fun enough for all, by all means go for it.

Opening chars are going to be regulated to Tenno and known frames for now, simply because that's what the beginning is calling for. As the plot continues down the line there might be places for Grineer and Corpus to hop in, but for now please stick to the single faction.

I apologize beforehand if this seems pretty narrow, but please understand that I'm trying not to bite off more than I can chew. As things progress I might be willing to open things up a bit more but for now I'd like to keep the testbed as manageable as possible ^^;

This will be the place for general questions/remarks/discussions outside the plot can go. Shenanigans can flow freely here, but try not to leak stuff from here over to the IC thread.

Groundrules:

- Follow the set guidelines laid out here.

- No godmodding/OP actions. You can be as overkill to your own chars as you like, but outright no damage taking/1 shot unavoidable killing/maiming actions on other people's chars will have consequences.

- No metagaming. Allowances can and will be made to creative uses of in-lore actions provided it doesn't go into the first rule and it's deemed fun, but applying ooc things spoken privately or trying to change ic plot to your own taste is not allowed.

- Don't go crazy with the OC making. The max number of characters per person will likely change based on how many people participate, but for now let's just say 1-2. More may be allowed midway, but please ask beforehand. It's my first time at this, let's try to keep the headcount manageable until I'm ready ^^;

- keep your characters serious. This doesn't mean that your characters can't tell jokes or quips, but rather that your character has to be able to be taken seriously.

- Don't be rude to other players. Politeness both in and out of the RPing makes for a healthy and enjoyable environment.

Reposting the opening setting here

It started out innocuous enough. A few crates of supplies missing during freight runs. A small corner of weapon caches disappearing from outlying outposts. A discrepancy on the amount of medical equipment that's on the shuttles and what's on the ledger. All of the two main factions' higher ups either ignored it or blamed it on machine error or incompetence. Then one day, that changed. In the middle of the night, under full surveillance, one of the shipyards on Ceres finds itself missing several entire fully completed fomorian cores fresh off the assembly line. At the same time, an entire supply train destined for the factories on Europa arrive half a day late, completely devoid of crew and more importantly its entire storage of oxium gone from the cargo holds.

Both the Grineer and Corpus are quick to blame the other as per the norm, and none of the known syndicates rise up to claim responsibility for the ensuing chaos. Some of the more superstitious people on the relays were even whispering that it's the ghosts of the Old war claiming retribution. Amidst the ensuing finger pointing and gun fighting, the Lotus finds a trail.

All the locations and disappeared equipment had no obvious correlation with each other, but there were signs. Crafts not being where they were supposed to be in the hanger, entire stocks empty on stations well before the usual consumption rate, people having conflicting reports on where and when their shifts ended. Several times even the spacely matron loses the trail, only for it to pick up on the other side of the solar system. Finally, after several uneasy weeks, she has something. A Corpus convoy carrying a sizable load of both raw and processed cryotic is passing through the asteroid belt today, the belt thickened enormously by wrecks of ships old and new alike. Based on the Lotus' calculations, that's likely the next target for these raids. Putting out the call, she scans the area for nearby Tenno. The objectives were simple; find out who or what's behind the missing supplies, and if necessary put a stop to their actions.

As a semi-active forumer myself, please don't expect to the plot to run off at light speed. Time's a precious commodity for everyone, and even I'm not always going to be able to post replies post haste, or possibly even with the same day (IRL can creep up on people when you least expect it). As such, please be understanding if the speed is slower than what you're expecting.

@Omega_DarkPotato For a first go at it, the depth of your post is impressive. My only strike is your last paragraph, as it's *quite* of action wihout the DM's involvement; from assuming that the convoy has exactly two destroyers, to the instant success of hacking a vault. I understand the semi-inactiveness, but currently I don't see it as a problem as I don't forsee the plot speed going at 88mph. If you wouldn't toning it so that your oc's just heading towards the vault instead of instantly clearing your ocs' self set objectives that'd be much appreciated.

I hope I'm not barging in on anything, but I am highly interested in joining. I have had extensive RP experience but am new to Warframe roleplaying. I was wondering if I could use a Tenno that has a...well to put it lightly, an "Asura" Warframe. If you need a picture of what the Warframe would look like in my opinion without his 4th ability activity, he basically looks like Asura from Asura's Wrath but with more metallic skin in terms of his Warframe, but the Tenno operating him looks a little wild

Here's my idea for my tenno look if it's ok. Afterwards, I'll get to making my character

Honestly, I'd recommend sticking to the actual warframes, custom warframes in RP can be seen as a bit weird or perhaps OP if done incorrectly or even seen as a rip off from other warframes.

Also, is this RP going to be Pre-U18 lore or Post-U18 lore?

Drak's got the right idea. Ideally you should stick to the known thirty three frames. (glass frame's still ambiguous unless you've space magically got access to the power list that's still being hashed out). My goal isn't a free for all with mystical blown fantasy but rather a side story of sorts that takes place within the known theme and lore of the universe.

I'm also curious regarding this RP.

One question, if this RP happens to be Post-U18, are we supposed to stick to the lore, or can we just have our Tenno as young adults, wearing their Frames like armor (aka, how everyone assumed they were)?

As per both you and drak, it's definitely going to be post-U18. I won't say that you *can't* make something pre-18, but know that there's going to be a disclaimer beforehand. As for ages and armor wearing, I'm going to say yes, provided that you can provide an honest attempt at explaining it in-character. Between knowing Harrow, and different times for coming out of cryo, I'm totally open to different ages and methods of "suiting up".

While TSD gave a pretty definitive means on how frames work, if you can come up with a reasonable way the alternate method(s) can work for your OCs, by all means go for it. I feel that even with what we know about frames there's always a bit of wriggle room.

Speaking of, I'm going to add the disclaimers right now so people can see that at a glance.

That sounds reasonable :)

So, should we just post our character's bio here?

If you'd like, if you've got their entire's bio planned out already. Starting with a basic idea and building up a background from there as the story progresses would work too if you're not clear on the finer details. (I see myself doing the latter option. I'm a definite fan of chars backgrounds and motives being revealed bit by bit, alongside char development)

Understood, it's just that I wanted to take my Asura for a test run. But I guess fair since I'm the only one who knows Asura's strengths and weaknesses and abilities

Yeah, apologies. It's not that I'm against way out there, but rather for the purposes of the the RP I'm leaning towards the players and ocs being creative with what's already set in-lore. If you can come up with detailed page on exact looks, and power workings (a la the abilities tab, complete with details on what the 4 different abilites can and can't do) I might take another look. In layman's terms, if you can plan/draw/describe the frame in it's entirety like the stuff you find in the fan concepts) I'd be more inclined to change my mind ^^;

I have a full blown fan concept thread just for the idea of my Asura warframe. I was trying to lean towards him being like Asura from Asura's Wrath though

If you're really planning on using that concept, I'd like for you to really hammer and tone down the details on his looks and powers (as someone who's only seen Asura's Wrath third hand, that pic alone isn't going to be enough for me as far as visualizing go ^^; Basically, you're going to have to explain and describe the concept to someone who's never encountered anything related to an asura, even the myth.)

What's his sprint speed? his weight? Do his powers give him invincibility the  entire time? what's the energy cost? the range? is the duration a flat rate or is is affected by mods? Does his fists grow to giant size when we uses his 1 and 3? Does he lunge forward when he uses his 1 and 3? is his 4th's beams continuous with inf range? is it a flat duration or does it drain more the longer it lasts? Just how damaging is it? Is his 3rd *only* affected by fist type weapons, because that sounds quite limiting? Can he use his abilities multiple times before the first casting wears off, or does it have to wait before recasting?

Are his attacks (if he does any with his abilities) impact? slash? default magnetic? what's the proc rate? crit rate? How's his 3rd affected by said fists? is it additive? multiplicative? Are his extra arms grown from the frame itself, or are they void entities? Is his 2nd an area of effect, or does he have to have physical contact (like rhino charge) for it to take affect?

Range is important because as an example, if he's constantly grabbing enemies, whether in-game or in the RP and beating the snot of them without fear of retaliation, then it's just not going to work :s As far as synergy with a specific frame, it seems quite huge, I mean way too huge. Even Mesa only gets like an 50 extra hp when she's not equipping a melee weapon. a flat 200 boost across all three bars seems very overkill, to say nothing of the extra power strength.

I'm not going to say that it couldn't work with a lot of refining whether in-game or in an RP, as it stands it sounds way too overpowered and ambiguous for this particular story telling attempt. It's not a bad idea, just not a right one at the moment ^^; It'd probably fit in quite well in some of the more looser RPs though if you really want to test drive it.

Still, does my operator appearance seem alright?

I guess? Can't view your frame or operator profile right now, so can't really say. (there really needs to be a method to search and view players, whether they're in-game or not :x) In any case, your operator doesn't have to be *exactly* what you've set or have available in your arsenal in-game, I'm not that stringent;  Anything that's available to Tenno's armory can be used (so feel free to browse that weapon codex). Besides, it'd be downright impossible unless you constantly screenshot different bodies for each OC if you so decide to make more than one. As I've said earlier, they can even be adults provided you can give an adequate reason in-game. I've been in one or two RPs where even though they were post-U18, the "operators" *were* quite different than just teenagers with attitude.

What I *am* hoping for that is if you do decide to your operator in any capacity (whatever you choose for them to look like) that you'll be able to describe them well enough that neither the DM nor the players have to do a lot of guesswork as to what they look like or how they act. The RP will be in text after all, and it's through text that the world and the people will be given shape and form.

Alright, then here's my character's bio. (it's kinda extensive, so i appolagize in advance)

-Kat

Nicknamed "The Renegade", Katherine is a Bastet Valkyr who suffered more than most at the hands of the Zanuka Project. Now, carrying a blinding hate and thrist for revenge against the Corpus, and specialy Alad V, she travels around the Orogin System, tracking down her quarry, going as far as isolating herself for days inside Corpus ships, earning her nickname. The only one that can get a smile from her is her little sister, Jeniffer. Many fear her prowess in battle, and when her Hysteria screams echo along the halls of the Corpus ships, they know that the only way to live is to run away from the tidal wave of rage coming their way.

Post-restoration: Her personality remained almost unchanged when restored to Gersemi, but she became more calm, collected, with a better self-control. She changed her frame's colors to fit her new nature, as well as her weapons to fit her re-learned skills.

Age: Late 20's, accurate age unknown due to her force awakening from cryosleep due to being used in the Zanuka Project.

Loadout:

-Renegade: Paris Prime, Despair/Hikou Prime, Venka, Elytron, Dual Decurions/Corvas, Rathbone

-Restored: Latron Prime, Sonicor, Dragon Nikana, Elytron, Dual Decurions, Centaur

Appearence:

-Renegade:

-Restored:

(to be updated)

Tenno appearence: Light skin, brownish blonde hair, shaved on the sides, long flowy mohawk, it falls on her left side, covering her left eye and falling on that side's shoulder. Three earings on her left ear and two on her right ear. Originaly with dark brown eyes with light orange on the edge of her iris, when restored, her eyes became amber, with a green outline on her iris. Well built and toned body, but with rather generous feminine curves, even for a Valkyr. Her Frame actualy acts as a "push up" bra. Has the Will sigil from the Arbiters tattooed on her left upper arm, and the Zanuka Hunter sigil tattooed on the back of her left shoulder.

Looks good everyone~ Honestly I'm a bit surprised that there's so many who's interest have been caught considering it's my first go at this thing ^^;  There's enough people now that I'm going to tentatively close recruitment now, barring a few people that I'm keeping an eye on. If you'd like you can slowly churn out intros for your ocs into the intro proper and we can attempt to get this rid started in earnest.

As a note though if you haven't read the general guidelines already, please don't set too many actions on behalf of other players/NPCs yourselves. Anything done by your ocs is yours to command, but follow-up actions, successes, failures, and dynamic changes are in the storyteller`s purview unless the current scene allows for you to get a bit fancier with the collateral damage. (hopefully said events will be easy to infer)

For an example, Tenno A stealthily cuts an entry hatch/hacks open an emergency door/sneaks aboard an inbound carrier into the hanger/punches a hole into the bridge with their bare hands. That's good, that gives me a place to work with.

Tenno A stealthily busts in a vent, kills everyone onboard the ship without triggering the alarms, hacks through half a dozen vaults flawlessly, and jury-rigs the bridge to make the craft collide with the nearest destroyer in the span of a single post. That's bad, as it takes way too much out of the DM's input. I won't be too harsh on the first attempt if it`s unintentional, but continuous and deliberate instances of such will see me excercising my DM muscles.

If you're worried about an action, whether at other ocs or NPCs, please don't hesitate to PM me or the other player in question.

Provided you give an adequate explanation IC that doesn't break the plot outright (is he waking up on a craft? in a convoy? if he's in a convoy define the rampage: is it by archwing? insertion? if in the convoy to stsart with what's he doing there in the first place? Did he sneak aboard? did the corpus bring him onboard? (definitely hope it's not this one myself though as that would be a bit more out there than what I'm attempting to establish in the beginning. It's a cryotic freight line, not a cryopod mining group :x))

As long as there's a means for the Corpus (or any future NPCs) to react in response and it's written well, it should be ok though. Traumatized is fine, as long as we'll get some explanation down the line (whether by monologue or by oc interaction dialogue) as to why he's choosing to start out a sneaking mission by bashing crewmen buckets in. Starting out by immediately ripping and tearing without due reason is a no go though.
