Hello all - a quick update from PBR world!

As you know, our goal is to transition every Warframe to PBR - physically based rendering.

What is PBR?
Here is some light reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physically_based_rendering

Why does it matter in Warframe?
We have some Warframes that are currently not using PBR. If you look at your regular Rhino in your Arsenal and compare that to regular Excalibur, you can see a different in quality of the frame textures.

What does the Proto Excalibur Skin have to do with this?
If you are a believer in fashion frame, read on. Converting Warframes to PBR - especially Warframes with metallic details - means we need to make decisions on how to allow tinting of those metallics. Proto Excalibur boasts quite a lot of metallic details which we now have to assign a tint to!

Please take a look at the Before & After shots below of how your Fashion Frame may need adjusting when this change rolls out. Be ready to adapt and embrace a PBR overhaul in your Proto Excalibur Wardrobe, Tenno!

This will roll out in the near future - stay tuned for Update notes!

so this is coming to Nemesis too right? right!?

It's coming to everything is hasn't before. Now, My guess is since it uses similar texture assets as Proto, the Nemesis skin will get the same treatment at the same time. But nothing has been confirmed on DE's ends. I also made a quip about this earlier in the forum. HOPEFULLY it'll happen sooner rather than later.

If you have pics of it happening, try posting on Art/Animation feedback and I'm pretty sure they'll try to get to it when possible!

I think they already know. It's better to look at it after PBR for Ex. Accessories right placing is time-consuming, so it's just not prioritized . There is also bad clipping  Nidus like with Kuwa shoulder armour, that flyes, looks more urgent)

Like this. Excuse his head, that was just because I was looking at a funny angle. It appears to be the way light works on it. The metallic/gold parts are fine but on the white/purple parts (just my color scheme) it has an oddly grainy effect to it much like Captura, even when using Kneel to get my character to be perfectly still they still seem to move on their own accord. I could have upped my settings for these pictures but I thought if I'm addressing what I think is a glitch it'd make more sense to show it off with the settings I use while playing.

What you see there is the leather material surface :) Maybe it's a bit metallic too. I think there's another Warframe that already uses this one.

Definitely not a glitch, just how much PBR brings to the table!
