Kubrow Breeding -A Full Guide.

Lots of people keep asking me on how to breed the best kubrow; what colours are rare and more! So I figured I would make this handy-dandy guide!
I will hopefully make everything as clear and as detailed as I can but feel free to ask questions, or make corrections should I have gotten something wrong.
This guide is split into 7 sections for convenience; The basics, imprints, caring for your kubrow, types of kubrow, colours and patterns, height and selling prints!

The basics -how to make a kubrow!

Spoiler

HCaAxe.jpg

So you want to breed and raise kubrow either for mastery, to fight by your side in battle or for fun! Well first things first; you must obtain an egg!

Eggs are found from wild kubrow nests only on earth, (or you can buy one in the market for 10 platinum) They are easy enough to come across, I tend to find an egg in 1-4 runs of an exterminate. Sadly if you already have an egg you can not pick up another if you find one on earth, you can however get extra eggs from alerts or buy as many as you want.

Once you have your egg you need a 'Power core'! in order to get one you can either buy one for 35 platinum in the market (ouch!) or buy a re-usable blueprint for 50,000 credits. Building a power-core takes 8 hours (unless you rush it) it also needs; 1 Argon crystal, 2 control modules, bunch of nano spores and 100,000 credits.

When you have both a powercore and an egg; you can finally begin incubating your egg!
At your incubator you simply click being incubation under the 'breeding' tab and then you can click either 'being random incubation' or 'begin combined incubation.

Incubation takes two days, your puppy will then be ready to be named. Once named your puppy will be able to roam around your ship and may be kept as a puppy forever if you desire, however it can't do on missions and you can't take imprints until it is grown up. To mature a kubrow you simply click 'mature (kubrow name)' at the incubator. Adult kubrows also roam around the ship but you can only have one kavat or kubrow out at a time.

I highly recommend getting the upgrade segment from a dojo for you incubator. This not only makes egg incubation take a day (instead of two) and it will put your kubrow into stasis should it get low on health (so it doesn't die). It also makes stasis recovery half an hour, which you can rush for only 10k credits.

If you click 'random incubation' it is just that -you will get a completely random kubrow! That means its breed type (eg raska, chesa ect) will be random, what colours and patterns it will be is random as well as its body type and gender etc.

If you click 'begin combined incubation' you will need two imprints of any kubrow you wish, you can either pick two from the same kubrow or two different ones to try and combine things like colours or get a more desirable pattern etc.

Genetic Code Templates --Imprints:
You can take imprints from an adult kubrow, this makes a 'copy' of that kubrow, retaining the colours, pattern, build and type on the print. Whenever you use imprints please remember; height and gender is always random. Using the prints of a tall kubrow doesn't mean you are going to get a tall dog.
As stated before you can use these prints to breed a new kubrow. In order to take a print you must build a template, which is done by a reusable blueprint found in the market. Once the template is built you can then take a print from any active adult kubrow you have. You can only take two prints from one kubrow.

Caring for you kubrow!

Spoiler

kubrow loose 10% of their 'genetic stability' a day aka health -only 5% if you have the incubator upgrade.
if a kubrow hits -100% health it dies!
In order to keep it healthy you need to give it DNA stabilizers, these can be brought at 6 to a pack for 75,000 credits.
one 'dose' restores 40% of its health.

If your kubrow falls durring battle (and 'dies') it will return back to your ship, however it will affect its loyalty, which in turn affects how much damage a kubrow does. Petting your kubrow will restore this, but only has effect up to three times a day.
If a kubrow is in stasis it will not lose health and having the upgraded segment means your kubrow will automatically go into stasis if it is low on health so it doesn’t die.

Breeds of Kubrow!

Spoiler

JGFtCT.jpg

There are currently five types/breeds of kubrow. Huras, Raksa, sahasa, sunika and chesa -each breed has a unique ability to help you in battle!
Below are the codex entries and some details of each breed:

Chesa -- 'This Kubrow will disarm adversaries and retrieve the spoils of battle.' Chesa is easily one of the best breeds of kubrow (at least my opinion) simply because of its ability to gather loot for you, a bit like a carrier. (though less effective) it also has one of the best health and damage outputs.

Huras -- 'Prized for its ability to sneak up on unsuspecting prey, the Huras Kubrow were first used as hunting companions by the Orokin elite. Orokin Era Tenno soon adapted the strain for use in covert missions and assassinations.' Huras are able to cloak you and it'self with it's stalk mod, a lot like a shade does.

Sahasa -- 'Enterprising Orokin genetic designers recognized that the Kubrow's affinity for games of fetch could be used for more serious endeavors. They soon developed a strain adept at reconnaissance and contraband recovery. Tenno often used the creatures to help resupply while in the field.' A Sahasa's main ability is to dig up loot for you, which is useful for getting extra energy and health orbs.

Raska -- 'Designed by the Orokin to be the perfect companion, a Kubrow was never far from its master's side. Loyal and obedient, these creatures made ideal bodyguards. Equipped with shield generators for added protection, their fierce growl could paralyze any attacker with fear.' Raska's howl ability is designed to scare of enemies, and it's protect ability replenishes your shields when they are out, though not fully.

Sunika -- 'Once the value of Orokin guard-pets had been realized, it was not long after the Orokin guard began experimenting with strains designed for combat. These were no longer household pets but superior war animals bred for ferocity and aggression.' sunika specialists in finisher attacks and taking down 'vip' targets aka capture targets.

Patterns and Colours! -identifying and breeding them!

Spoiler

Easiest way to talk about and describe the patterns available is to show you!
Below is a sample of each pattern of kubrow showing where each primary/secondary and tertiary colour of each pattern sits and identifiable features.
Common Patterns:
Patchy
This is the most common type of pattern and is good to be avoided when combining prints for rarer colour/pattern combos if possible.
ob1B90.png

Stripes
It can be hard to Identify the colour of the tertiary stripe markings as they are thin and hard to see.
lhsFiN.png

Hound
Personally I like the look of the hound pattern as it is very clear and gives distinct markings.
PuXRgx.png

Uncommon patterns:
Domino
Often a popular pattern, it is very distinct and can look great with the right colour combinations.

Rare patterns:
Merle
Though it is considered as rare as Lotus it is often overlooked and doesn’t have as much value, though many people still enjoy this very nice pattern

Lotus
The rarest and most popular pattern. Has a very distinct pattern on the face and stripes down the chest.

Colours!

Spoiler

Below is the chart of colours people commonly use to find out the colour of their kubrow. I am unsure if it is an ‘official’ one but it is accepted throughout the community as the best guide.
Rare colours are highlighted in red. With gold considered to be the most rare.

Qhqd9G.png

(New up-to-date colour chart by Arcmilla)

You used to be able to 'copy main colours' in kubrow attachments but since katats came out they removed that feature meaning the only way you can I.D colour is by trying to match the colour on the fur by eye, comparing it the above chart and comparing pictures of confirmed rare coloured kubrow. making sure your ship lighting is either black or white and turning off 'high dynamic range' in options will ensure you get a clear view of your kubrows colours. Looking at the colours on the imprints is also the best way to I.D them. it can be tricky at first but once you breed a bunch of kubrow it becomes much easier to spot rare colours.

I can help you I.D and evaluate your kubrows worth on the thread bellow:

Tip: when trying to combine colours with pattern putting the colours in the second print slot with pattern in the first tends to give best results.

Triple rare coloured lotus have the most value, with triple rare of the same colours selling for the most, though they don't sell for the high prices they used to (prices fell when kavats came out) they can still sell for 1000-1800p
Example of a triple gold lotus:
6dYTWi.jpg

Eye/energy colours
it is harder to I.D eye/energy colours since they removed the 'copy main colours' function but if you have the 'ki'teer sekhara' emblem or the 'Sevati Sekhara' emblem, attaching them to your kubrow means they will use the energy colour of your kubrow making it easy to see. (you attach them under 'appearance'  and 'regalia' section)

If you don't have easy of these you can generally see the kubrows eye colour on the imprints, though it can be pretty trickly to be 100% sure.

no eye colour is rare and they have an equal chance of occurring, though some people tend to like energy that matches the fur colour of the kubrow.

Hp70za.png

-the red energy colour (or what people class as red) is in-fact an shade or orange there is no 'true' red.

Builds!

  Hide contents

There are three different types of body build for kubrows!
Skinny:
Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between small athletic males and skinny kubrows, the easiest tell is to compare necks and chest, skinny kubrows are much thinner in this area.
FCz0R3.jpg

Athletic:
Athletic kubrows are the only build to have differences in their gender, with females having extra fur on their legs and a slightly more curvy shape.
Male:
UWpGDL.jpg

Female:
QNCpj9.jpg

Bulky:
The most desired and easy to spot builds.

Height!

  Hide contents

Height is always random, no matter what size of kubrow prints you buy, people often try to charge for ‘omega’ (tallest height) kubrow which is simply not possible to pass on kubrow prints, only way to get a kubrow of the desired height is to keep re-breeding form prints of the kubrow until you get the height you want, this is all down to luck sadly.
In theory small kubrow are better during game-play as they have a smaller hit box and so are harder for the enemy to hit, but people tend to want tall kubrow more.

Customizing your kubrow --Kubrow Armour, store brought colours and patterns!

Spoiler

If you don’t wish to breed or use natural colours or patterns there are many other colours and patterns you can buy from the marketplace for treasure or platinum and apply to your kubrow!
This includes a lot of the common colours you can breed normally plus extra ones you can’t! Once applied it can be changed at any time and does not transfer to the imprints you make. Imprints only store natural colours and patterns.
There is also Armour you can buy; for platinum to decorate your kubrow in! Whilst this doesn’t change your kubrows stats in anyway it does help in making your kubrow look good whilst out on the battlefield.

Selling prints!

  Hide contents

since kavats have come out kubrows have dropped in price and it has become much harder to sell prints -but on a good side new players will now be able to get rare beautiful kubrow at a low price :)

this is a new price guide I have made to reflect current prices:

I can evaluate the price of your kubrow on this thread:

Mmm do the Female, Male, Build and Pattern imprints have to be in a specific slot when incubating an egg to get more chances for getting a kubrow with a specific breed, build, sex and pattern?

no its 50-50 no matter where you put them sadly.

Does the Heliocore weapon get genetic scans 100% of the time or just the same 15% chance??

you mean for kavats? its the same 15% chance as with any other scan.
