Also distance between the host and you affects your connection. Now if you can't cope with terrible hosts, then don't play with people other than good connection, play with friends, people close by or play solo. Find groups to play with if you have hard times coping with lag but one thing I will say, this is nothing new in PC gaming, quite a common thing.

Really starting to hate bad internet hosts because my abilities take 10 seconds to finish casting, on the plus side im invincible because all enemies ignore me like im not there

That annoying moment when people are too busy *@##$ing about lag to enjoy the game..-_-

Slideshows are kinda hard to enjoy anyway.

You might find it hard to believe but sometimes the host doesn't know that they are causing lag........or you can always host yourself.

Besides, lag might make you a better player in the end.

Targets and teammates teleport moonwalking... Sometimes easier to shoot, sometimes not. XD

I get that sometimes the lag gets to be pretty bad, but as i said before, you can always host the game yourself, play with friends or clanmates to avoid all this.

Lag is a part of online gaming, i just don't get why people have to continually complain about it.

Problem is I'm not convinced it's a crappy host at this point most of the time.

In our clan we have a number of people with testable high speed connections, all reasonably robust.

Moment you get 4 people in a session now? It's lag-tacular. 3, curiously, seems to be alright. And this is new behaviour from last U8/U9 changes.

We're not talking about people on dial up here but people on DSL or Cable connections.

In all seriousness, if those connections are not sufficient, something's not right, and it seems highly unlikely to me that we see the exact same choke and lag behaviour regardless of who is hosting.

This is more of a weird optimization problem in-game than anything else, getting even worse post-U9 with the new void mission types.

I have 1-1.5 mbps upload speed on my connection. We do a T1 void defense with me as host, with 2 of my clanmates. They report that it's all smooth and almost always lag-free (no teleporting mobs or years to pick up a mod). After that, I use my T3 mobile defense void key, filled up the squad to 4 in the lobby. While in the "waiting for players screen", 2 of them got disconnected and only 1 makes it to start the mission with me.

I try re-inviting the other two who got kicked, but they keep on getting "failed to join" errors. Now the weird part begins. My remaining squadmate is lagging like hell, takes 10 seconds to open doors - and then so am I, despite me being the host... skipping and stuttering, FPS slows down to a crawl. No enemies encountered yet! Even aborting the mission takes soooooo long and we are stuck in a black screen of limbo, but still able to use chat.

Well here are some refreshing infos that you guys have posted but with explanation:

There are two things that makes the in-game lag: Internet connection and Computer Specifications

These two essentials can support the whole team to not lag, but there is another two that makes the game lag.

The guys who join and the game itself. And here are some reasons:

1.) People who join in game with bad IC or CS can pull down the performance of the host with good IC and CS

Imagine a gaming PC with great specs(2nd latest NVIDIA GC 3GB, with AMD processor and 16GB System Ram enough to make Battlefield 3 smooth like game consoles) and internet(of 1mbps-3mbps) lag to 5 framerates per second

2.) Game with no servers(or at least for players to join in and have individual lags instead of team lag); well since they don't have all the dough to have its own servers, we're forced to play with host players. Sadly even if you're a friend, you can be the PIA of the team for having bad net connection.

I have a beast of a gaming rig but a pretty awful internet connection (changing soon though hopefully), the required upload rates are just not common at all in the UK, our upload is really limited for whatever reason, I just wish there was an option in game to force yourself to not be the host, I don't mind taking a chance with somebody else's connection but when I know mine will lag with 4 players why should I even try to play in online mode :/

I can host 3 people (myself included) just fine but I wish I could either limit myself to 3 people or not being the host, or they could just get servers but who knows :D

my largest concern is this problem is only going to get worse as vertical progression and the number of missions increases. People more spread out with a wider array of missions to chose from, and more spread out in progression and better matchmaking to put you with people of your level of progression is going to mean less people to chose between as a host and more crappy connections. Isn't warframe pretty popular? but i still often have long queues and when i do join, the connection is bad more often then its good.
