General Bow Thread.

The bow. One of mankind's oldest designs. Unlike a gun, it never jams, blablabla...

...anyway, since I don't feel like making a documentary-esque intro for this thread, I'll jump straight at the bow's glaring problems (for me):

-It uses the sniper rifle ammo, which is close to non-existant. This forces you to either fill your inventory with sniper ammo boxes, thus leaving little for medkits, or to use Ammo Drum.

-Thunderbolt. An AoE explosion which, when it's working, locks your bow's damage to 250.

So, want me to suggest something? Simple:

-Make arrows salvageable. You walk over an enemy that you killed with your bow and you recover it. However, you must have killed the enemy for the salvage to work. I mean, you can't salvage an arrow shot from a white or faux-gold Dread while you use a black and purple Paris.

-Make Thunderbolt only affect those around the enemy you just hit.

So, what's your feedback on bows?

I don't know much about how thunderbolt affects things, but it locks your damage ?

as in my paris ( being lvl 30 with per say max suration etc on )  it would not do max damage with thunderbolt on ?  I'm just curious because I have thunderbolt on my paris and I'm now questioning if it's better to keep it off.

~ oh and so my post isn't completely off topic, I agree - the lack of ammo the bow gets default is only 75 and I need at least 25-30 arrows per defense wave maybe even 50 for some.  and that means if I don't scavenge enough ammo drops then I'll be out of ammo by wave 5 for sure.  So yes, either allow the bows to have a larger ammo storage by default

but I can't say that allowing you to retrieve them would work out well.   1.  You shoot a target and kill it, well soon that body will disappear so how will you keep track ( new game mechanics will be necessary )  2.   The quick pased actin of Warframe may not suit something like that.

I still agree - we need more ammo capacity in some way shape or form / mechanic

Or use sniper scavenger as I do. Honestly with that equipped and a rank 2 ammo drum, I never really run into supply issues with my dread or paris.

Uhm...it does in my experience o_o

My feedback on bows in general? Love them. Particularly satisfying when you hit an enemy while you're in mid air with one. My only gripe with them in their current state is that weird tendency for the drawn animation to bug out and clip through your body, or bend weirdly all over the place. Other than that, some of my favorite weapons.

Oh, and can we please have the Dread energy trail match our energy selection, that's getting really quite irksome.

Thunderbolt: Needs help. Like, a lot. As of now, the proc chance is already low and deals next to no damage high end. It's not even worth using once you can equip a level 6+ Serration into the weapon. It doesn't even get elemental bonus. It needs to either benefit from serration (like all other elemental mods), even if it's at a reduced percentage, OR, scale based on arrow damage.

As for arrow economy, I don't think i can bring anything to the table here.

thank you - I think I'll try my Paris without it for a bit to see how I like it.

Thunderbolt doesn't lock damage. In fact, it applies your elementals to everything in the AoE.

As much as i would love that to be the case, my source states otherwise, which has proven to be extremely accurate in almost every aspect.

If you can provide confirmation via video or screencap, I would be more than willing to believe your post over the wiki.
