Krotalon
The problem is that Ancients don't have weaknesses.
Saenol
Runners have no armor and take triple damage from slashing/bladed weapons. Ancients have enormous armor, except on their weak spots, where they take normal damage. Dread does not bypass armor and is a slashing attack. Krovakon
The dread does not have armor ignore, and you might have shot a leaper while he was leaping thinking he a runner Ancients have massive armor as well, my supra will do 135 damage normally, but only 23 damage to ancients unless i shoot their face or foot. Khaos_Zand3r
Dread does 3x damage to light infested, and not ancients. That is 3x each type of damage you are doing.

That is 3x each type of damage you are doing. ahhh now thats disappointing, why bother having 3x dmg when you can't kill hundreds of them because low rate of fire and ammo. . . LazyKnight
ahhh now thats disappointing, why bother having 3x dmg when you have to kill hundreds of them with only low rate of fire and ammo. . . With decent mods you can kill a charger(or any light unit) with just tap firing a dread and doing 60 damage because of that massive damage bonus. Tsukinoki
The dread is perfect for removing the runners, the ones that explode, well before they reach you because of its high accuracy and long ranger coupled with the extremely high damage. Also, you can get numbers you were seeing in leapers either right before they leap or as they are in the air. They suffer about 10 times damage while leaping, meaning with the dread its a total of 30 times damage. Against ancients though its not that useful. The dread is also useful against light grineer and most of the humanoid corpus.
N4F4N
Dread does 3x damage to non-ancient infested I think. Which would explain less damage to ancients..
DeadlyNerd
Light infested take 3x damage from bladed weapons. Dread does bladed damage. You do the math. As for ancients. Ancients are armored and, unlike paris, dread does not ignore armor leaving it at zilch damage if you don't have the right mods.

That deals x3 vs Light Infested (as Deadly said). However, Slashing is not armor-ignoring (Poison, AP, Physics Impact, Serrated Blade), meaning it is not effective on body shots in general. Headshots allow you to bypass the armor (for the most part), as well as boost your damage Should also note that infested walkers (runners/leapers) do not scale armor.
