Whats Wrong With Mag?

Still a little new to the game. i have a general understanding of the essentials of this game and i play mag.
From reading these forums i've noticed a lot of people are saying Mag is under-powered or straight up sucks.

Im wondering why?

I spec'd heavy into energy efficency mods. i have -30% cost, and +150% capacity with mags helm giving her a total of 325 energy, and maxed out reach mod. I pull piles of mobs to me, often using multiple pulls from differnt directions and jump slam them all. if it gets heated i'll pop a crush, maybe 2.

I often come up as top of dmg and kills in defense maps which leaves me confused to why people think mag sucks. Even MikeB from youtube ALMOST called mag OP.

Its because alot of the other frames out dmg mag/perform better. Such as Saryn, Vauban, Nova.

She does not scale beyond what the game was meant to scale too and Bullet Attractor is a dps loss 99% of the time and is a soft CC at most, at 75 base energy.  People still seem to believe that she is supposed to be a support frame when her abilities are too selfish for her to be counted as support.

 

Outside of that Pull is an AMAZING ability and can turn her into a close combat beast.

I don't like that crush won't even kill regular enemies when you get to high levels. Other than that my only real complaint is that the animation for shield polarize doesn't match up with the actual amount of time it takes to go off.

I think most people take issue with the fact that her Crush ability is affected by armor, meaning it becomes really weak late game. Also what Kesella said, bullet attractor is nice but I think it gets rid of your ability to get headshots, meaning lower DPS.

Generally this was before the buffs to Mag however there are still complaints. The video from mikeB about MAG was from before when there was no frost, banshee nova vauban. 

One of the issues people have with MAG is that her 1st and 2nd skill was useless and only her 4th was worth using energy for but even that wasn't that good because it was effected by armor.

Now her pull is great. I really recommend getting her alt helm that increases range by 25%

Which is why Mag's loadout should be:

 

Gorgon/Shotgun

 

Vipers/Broncos

 

Glaive

No, you should farm a new warframe if you feel like playing something other than Mag.  Buying frames is a pretty huge waste of cash.  Plat is better spent on inventory slots (or reactors/catalysts if you're impatient).

Plat is for slots and desperate potatoes only.

Try her on high-level missions.

When Crush takes about 1/5 of mooks healthbar - thats... underwhelming, to say the least.

Pull is great crowd control power, but you have no means to dispose resulting crowd - besides your weapons.

Shield Polarize - useful, but in high levels half of your shields = 3 enemy shots.

Bullet Attractor requires a great skill to use it properly. Most of the times it just lowers your team DPS, because bullets didn't hit weak spots.

you should spend on warframe slots or weapon slots or colors because these are only plat items

I would actually recommend her Gauss helm. you really do not need the range on pull, I have rarely been in a spot where I needed that extra range and more energy means more pulls.  You will need a decent 2h weapon, I use the Orthos myself, max charge and charge damage and melee damage for when you get stuck doing ground executes (which you will unfortunately).  Me and my frost buddy 2 maned a t3 mobile defence and aside from game bugs (he could not see enemies on the first node) it went fine with me as a melee Mag.  Everyone else is still going to hate on Mag though because of the "Nuke or go Home" mindset people have and wanting her abilities balanced beyond what the game was ment to be balanced around until we get some actual end game going on.

buy slots and reactors for each slot is what i did. i dont regret it either, everytime i get a new frame i have a spot for it and a reactor to go in it. as for mag, i would suggest looking at other frames just to see if after you play a different frame you might see mag differently

I'm sorry, but do you have your own opinion, or just follow what crowd tells you?

Do you like to play Mag? If yes, why change it? Play as you like, pick whichever frame you like. When time comes to head to high-level endless defenses - then you could think about change her for other frame, because unfortunately Mag performs not very well there, and this fact will affect not only you, but your team also.

I still love my Mag after getting almost every other frame (still missing Rhino, Trinity, and Vauban). She is great CC, and I have her loadout for close quarters: Strun and Orthos, then a Lex to give her some range when needed. However, Crush being reduced by armor is idiotic. If anything it should be increased by armor, because armor probably has some metal in it that would be getting collapsed into the enemy's body.

Or you could spend your play anyway you want... Cos you know... You bought it... But I would definitely not recommend mod packs... That's a huge waste of platinum in my opinion.

Farming endless defence goes ridiculously fast with Mag pulling everything in one spot.
