Abilities scaling with melee mods should be standard.

If you make Gara scale with melee mods, that means, as far as I can tell, you necessarily sacrifice potential melee effectiveness to empower shattered lash.

This is true for exalted abilitys and exceptations but not necessarily for those that take certain stats, rather then a selection of mods into consideration.

 

Perfect examples would be ash, whos bladestorm scales off combo and attack speed, and atlas, whos landslide scales off combo alone.

Allowing more abilitys to scale off combo, speed or lets say the accumulated crit chance and multipliers would definitly be a way to let it profit without ruinning the current meta for melee. It would in fact make melee more attractive for a whole lot of frames while making the new naramon more acceptable in groups (without making anything too overpowered as keeping combo active, or avoiding death doing so, is quite the feat all by itself).

One could split the influence between frames who are capable of acting in melee range and those who are not.

false, landslide is affected by melee weapon mods

 

anyways, the optimal but 100% unrealistic solution would be a rework on abilities, as someone suggested: we need a whole new tab to add mods to for our abilities

 

mods to increase base dmg, to add elemental dmg, to change critical chance and dmg, all that jazz cause pretty much most damage-dealing abilities dont scale at all and are only affected by warframe mods

 

for some reason this leads to people whining that we should rely on abilities while ignoring that said abilities become useless

The ability scaling is fine as it is. The problem are weapons. Under no circumstance we should be able to one shot stuff as we do, both multishot and base damage mods need to be gone, or have a HUGE drawback (like consuming ammo, or screwing with fire rate/reload speed/mag capacity, like corrupted ones). People got used to carry a portable Death Star that shoots 10 lasers per second, and thats set the fire on, because ruins every other measure for balance. Right now, using a bow or a sniper barely gives any advantage, the dps is so much higher AND reliable on the meta guns, that handicaping oneself with slow firing rate or low capacity makes zero sense. The same with skills, right now the meta forces to use utility/survival/cc skills, because damage skills  are kinda pointless (fireball, smite, lightning bolt, shuriken, soul punch, etc), or utterly broken (like the exalted weapons), and the later, because scale with those horribly designed mods...

i get u want artificial scaling up the whazoo

 

but unless they completely revamp enemy scaling they cant just freaking remove multishot and +damage mods, also smite scales based on enemy total HP, one of the few good 1s
