Ogris Or Torid?

Ogris all the way, it deals more direct damage via the rockets and resulting explosions where the Torid's damage output isn't as high for its grenades and the enemies have to sit in the cloud to gain the full effect - if you're playing a Saryn/Loki and you plan on using Moult/Decoy then Torid may be better but i highly doubt it.

Ogris... Yes you could kill them with DoT but seriously what's the point, just blast them with stupidly high damage from a high level serration and multishot mod on the ogris.

Both ignore armour, so torrid does not gain any advantage at higher levels...

bastille spam = ogris

solo xini with loki till wave ~25 = torid

is thorid viable with vortex? ingame it seems that it can handle t3 def very well..

It indeed is.

Xini f.e. (or any other map too) you put magazine worth of shots down the stairs, and one down the ramp. put two vortex'es profit

love my torid, would never ever again equip that e-peeen launcher :)

I have both, and I prefer torid. I'll tell you why:

Ogris is a charge weapon, so it shoots in 1.5 sec, that including lag and normal human being reflexes it would be close to 2 seconds. Torid instead shots like a normal weapon. Thus torid has faster "firing rate"

Ogris does 150 damage vs 100 base of Torid. However, hitting an enemy directly with ogris will cause only 1/5 of the damage done, while torid will do full damage and stick the bomb to the enemy. Thus torid has easier aiming

Ogris recharges faster than torid, so that is a point for ogris.

Torid leaves a toxic cloud that deals about 80 damage, this itself it is not very impresive even when modded. However, it's utility is awesome, since the cloud will las 3-4 seconds, that means that if you equipped cryo rounds the enemy would be slowed for a large ammount of time, thus the utility of this combo it is far better than any other utility provided by ogris IMHO.

Ogris can damage yourself, whereas torid doesn't. Another point for torid.

Anyway, its your decision. If you can clear an enemy  wave with one ogris shot, then go ogris, if the enemies are too strong, I'll go with torid utiliry of slowing huge waves of enemies if you find a narrow corridor of sort.

Agua, thanks for the breakdown on this. I was avoiding building Torid myself, but your explanation makes good sense.

Thanks, I'll have to try this!

For lower levels, use the Ogris. It deals it's damage upfront, and it deals tons of damage upfront, so it will destroy mostly everything. At the higher levels though, the Ogris will be dealing little damage due to it's damage type vs. high enemy armor, so I'd use a Torid. If we're talking purely about playstyle, then...

- The Ogris deals fronthanded damage, while the Torid is backhanded. The Ogris is immediate while the Torid forces the enemy to sit in the cloud.

- The Torid's clouds are huge ground hazards. Placing an ice mod along with damage mods easily makes it a CC + damage weapon, while the Ogris only deals damage. Tons, though.

- The Ogris is a little faster than the Torid, but the Torid's clouds will continue dealing damage even while reloading.

When it comes to playstyle alone, the decision is yours. No weapon is superior. But when it comes to effectiveness, use the Torid as the levels increase, because it serves as CC and armor-ignoring damage.

Np, anyway both are awesome weapons, and you need to master a lot of weapons to get to rank 7 to get acrid, so my recomendation would be to build torid at rank 4 and ogris at 6.

TIP: Torid is great to shoot at doors when enemies are entering, specially cilinder like ones on void.

The Ogris rocket does 150 damage. The explosion is 500 damage.

edit: Despite appearances, the two are very different weapons, and excel at very different purposes. An Excalibur on a high perch can rain rockets down around the pod in a defense mission with little risk to themselves, while Vauban can use Vortex to group and hold enemies together for multiple grenades.

Ogris all the way. Equip with max Serration, Split Chamber, Armor Piercing, Speed Trigger, Fast Hands, Shred and throw in some elemental damage and you'll be blasting your way through masses of enemies.

I got them both and I believe that both of them are extremely good weapons. But with Torid, you need to forma it atleast few time to make it truly show its claws.
