There was even a teaser site put up for the War Within. Anyone know what happened to them? Did DE decide to cut them from the lore? Don't remind me, still saddens me that that hasn't been mentioned for 2 years since the concept was shown. As for Samodeus, Steve did say in a devstream that he would have a bigger role in the lore down the road, but now I'm not really sure about that. Though the notion of making blood sacrifices to get better stats on our rivens is certainly interesting.
