Volt's List Of Balance Suggestions

First off, I will freely admit that I have not used the following primary weapons: Lanka, Flux, Dread, Sobek, Torid, Vulkar, and Snipetron Vandal.  Next, I will freely admit that I have not used the Braton since before the Brandal nerf, have not used the Snipetron since its damage type was converted to AP, and only got the Strun to level 3 before I got motion sick and couldn't stand to look at a computer screen for the rest of the day (I was enjoying it though).

Next, I would like to point out that I am of the camp that would like armor scaling to be changed in some way such that AP, PI, and SB weapons are better at later levels, but not overwhelmingly so.

Third, right now, we have what appears to be the making of tiers, but weapon effectiveness is all over the map, so I will attempt to balance things according to the following tiers which already appear to be vaguely in place.

Tier 1: starter weapons

Tier 2: credit purchasable

Tier 3: able to be crafted from the market

Tier 4: vandals, Akimbo weapons aside from Aklato, and rare drops

Tier 5: primes

Brandal: damage buffed 20->23

Reasoning: Vandal > default

Braton: damage nerfed 20->19

Reasoning: right now, the Braton is such a widely usable weapon, it's actually somewhat silly

Grakata: damage buffed 9->11, rate buffed 20->25, crit chance buffed 7.5%->15%, crit damage buffed 200%->225%

Reasoning: makes it slightly more efficient and increases DPS enough to make it a weapon that specializes in such.  Its sustained DPS lacks, but as long as that magazine lasts, it can be devastating.

Ignis: DPS buffed 125->250 or rework it into a true flamethrower (preferred)

Reasoning: worst weapon in the game and is severely outdone by pretty much everything else.

Vulkar: damage buffed 125->150, magazine buffed 4->5

Reasoning: I haven't used it, but these changes on paper look nice

Sobek: damage nerfed 100->95

Reasoning: right now, people are reporting it as being better than the Hek in almost every situation, so a slight nerf ought to assist that.

Latron: damage buffed 40->45, rate buffed 4.2->6.2

Reasoning: the Burston was buffed to a level that accounted for the fire rate bug and had its damage boosted (presumably) to account for the increase in enemy level, leaving the Latron behind in the dust

Latron Prime: damage buffed 45->55, rate buffed, rate buffed 4.2->6.2

Reasoning: Latron got buffed and the LP was never the best prime weapon.

Supra: shots deal laser elemental damage

Reasoning: this is less balance and more common sense

Kunai: damage nerfed 45->35

Reasoning: right now, these things kinda dominate and power creep is bad

Despair: damage nerfed 55->45

Reasoning: see Kunai

Hikou: damage buffed 25->30, rate nerfed 6.67->5.8

Reasoning: right now, they're rather ammo inefficient compared to the other throwing weapons, so this should assist in that

Spectra: DPS buffed 80->300, magazine nerfed 60->30

Reasoning: makes it something other than a Flux clone by making it face-meltingly powerful for three seconds before a reload

Acrid: DoT nerfed to be same total damage dealt, only damage is now dealt over 8 seconds instead of 4.

Reasoning: the damage itself isn't so much an issue IMO, but the fact that it can kill so quickly is

Kraken: damage buffed 45->55

Reasoning: was not buffed when enemy level cap was raised

Vandal should not be > than normal. The vandals are event only and you cant hope to balance a game where a limited time weapon out performs something everyone else gets. Prime > normal because everyone can get primes. Vandals should be re-colored and a new fireing sound..thats  it.

but if the primes are better than the vandals, why does it matter that the vandals are better than the defaults?

If the vandal is a special edition, why it can't be better than it's original version? I can't see any sense on that. What's the problem if not everyone can have it? It's a special edition. And what make a vandal (better than the original) unbalance the game? Is the vandal edition the only good weapons in the game?

Seems pretty neat...

Thoughts about giving faster reloads for Snipetron and Vulkar (3 seconds? 2.8, maybe?) since the Lanka and Snipetron Vandal aren't bogged down by 4 second reload times?

I'm not a big sniper weapons, so you'd have to ask someone who's more acquainted with the ins and outs of them.

No , because no

Care to explain why the weapons which are currently dominating shouldn't be nerfed?

Would you feel its fair that everyone but you was walking around with a +100% damage mod just because they logged in on a day you couldnt? Now I know im exaggerating the boost here, but its the same ideology. Not all weapons are primed, there is a chance that a vandal of a weapon will be released before it gets a prime or will never get a prime (aka Snipetron). I relent that a weapon which has a prime is egilible for its Vandal version to be on the level of its Prime version. But in general haivng Vandals be anything more than a sin and a sound file isnt a good idea for fairness.

Btw, I have the Vandals in question so its not sour grapes.

I wasn't a fan of having them be that way either.  Honestly, I just wanted everything to be a sidegrade, but with the way things have been going lately, it seems that they want to have tiers of some sort.  default<vandal<prime is what they seem to be going with so I followed suit.  None of the changes I said were ideology changes save for my stance on armor.  The rest were effectively just attempts to polish the system they have now.
