Trinity Suggestions [Tldr Up Front]

TL;DR I know I’m long winded, so I’ll make it easy. Press CTRL+F, and type in “Trinity QOL Changes.” If you read all of it, thanks, and leave comments. I, in no way, expect or demand these changes to be made. These are merely suggestions that I've thought of while playing, and I wanted to just put them out there. In fact, I think they might even be over the top.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trinity Concerns

I love the Trinity so much. It combines three of my favorite things to do whenever I play games: tank, support my team, and solo a lot of content. So what’s the problem with her? There’s nothing really “wrong” with Trinity. There are, however, some very aggravating “design quirks” that I personally would be pleased to see changed. We have an AMAZING frame, capable of healing an entire team, whether they know how to hit a bright green target, or not. Problem is, unless I’m in a boss mission, I’m really just using Energy Vampire (EV)+Link. Maybe, if the mission is a bit tougher, I’ll use Well of Life on an Ancient or something.

It’s really simple to just mow down everything in front of me, essentially a “kill it before it kills you” mentality. This is taken even further when you’re running a mission, and pretty much everyone “1 shots” all the mobs. So many times I’ve cast EV , and by the time the over exaggerated cast animation is done, the enemy is dead. It’s not like my team gets hit health-wise in the first place. If they do, it’s most likely just me trying to use Link, or someone was “cc locked” by rollers or Disruptors. Basically, I don’t need half my abilities for a large portion of the content right now, and that’s a nagging problem for me.

Suggestion Thought Process

With pretty much all her issues laid out, I’d like to make some suggestions. Right now, she feels like more than the back up battery you bring for your phone that doesn't die in the first place. The cast animations for Well of Life, Energy Vampire, and Link are over dramatic. It’d be nice to increase the animation speed by 25-50% for those 3 abilities. I’m leaving Blessing alone because the only change I’d like to see is that it revived allies that were

incapacitated. That would make it worth using in those missions where everyone is dropping like flies, and in general. That solves some of her issues, but it still doesn't help when your team takes 1-2 seconds (if that) to kill enemies.

So let’s make Well of Life live up to its name. Well of Life now creates a healing field at the target area. Allies that hit enemies that are within the field are healed based on the damage they deal, and allies that are inside the field take less damage. Energy Vampire suffers from the same issues as Well of Life. Instead of a “field” though, I imagine it more of an area buff, almost exactly like Rhino’s “Roar.” When cast, allies in range will gain energy based on the damage they deal to enemies.

These changes alleviate the issue of trying to use WoF and EV on a target, but it dies instantly. Another issue is enemies may be clumped up around your intended target, or your screen might be shaking, so you may hit something else. Changing Trinity’s abilities in this way makes positioning more important, while still retaining her need for aiming and decision making. She can still attempt to “focus” her teams damage to a specific target, but won’t be punished as much by her own cast animations. Deciding on whether to give your team healing or damage reduction can be key, especially when you’re in those higher level Defense missions.

The last suggestion for Trinity is more about the clarity for her abilities, and for other frames as well. Buffs should be shown in the HUD, not just on the frame. The upper right of the screen displays the health, shield, all that important information, and I think buffs should be shown there as well. They can be just underneath the box, and show a timer on them. This can be the seconds left as a number, or the usual clockwise “recoloring” of the icon. The auras that are shown on frames should reflect the energy color you chose for your frame. Really annoying when you capture a target, or you have an artifact, so you’re glowing red. You don’t realize Link is down, because it’s almost the exact same color, and you get killed. Yes, you should pay attention, but you know it happens, even if not often.

Either way, that’s the thought process behind all of this. The short version is below. A lot of the numbers were taken from the wiki and changed. Healing is reduced a bit considering there’s damage reduction included now. I didn't do math for this, so if it really is over the top, please show it.

Trinity QOL Changes

Well of Life- Energy: 25

“Create a Well of Life at target location. Dealing damage to enemies in the field heals allies, while allies in the field take reduced damage.”

Healing % per damage: 20/25/30/35. Healing Caps at 150/250/350/400 per cast for each player. Drain percentage and healing cap increased by power strength.

Field Duration: 5/6/7/8. Buff duration lasts 1 second, refreshed every pulse (second) while being in the field. Field Radius is 10 in-game meters at all ranks. Power duration increases Field duration, but not buff duration. Power strength increases the field radius, as well as cast range.

Enemies are still flagged green, but only while in the field. Only 1 field can be up at once. Sentinels are effected by both the healing and the buff. Healing will not trigger off damage to enemies shields.

Energy Vampire- Energy 50

“Allies within range gain energy based on damage dealt to enemies.”

Energy % per damage: 20/25/30/50. Energy gain caps at 100 at all levels. Drain % and cap increased by power strength.

Buff Duration: 5/6/7/8 seconds. This is affected by power duration. Range of 15 in game meters at all ranks, and is increased by power strength.

Allies affected by the buff glow the same blue as before. Recasting the ability will only refresh the buff, but does not add to the remaining buff duration and energy gain cap.

Blessing- Energy 100

“Full heals and regenerates all allies shields. Revives incapacitated allies, and grants invincibility to them.”

Still regenerates all players and sentinels in the party. Invincibility lasts 3/5/7/10 seconds, and is affected by power duration.

Cast time 2 seconds. Revives and fully heals allies, then grants invincibility.

Seriously Kaizz I agree to all the points mentioned above .... Trinity is the most awesome frame in warframe yet her abilities are restricted from being a true healer and support frame.

Most of the time I find Trinity lagging behind due to low sprint speed.

Hope they change the features requested ..

Yeah, I think her speed could be increased a bit, but I think it's more of an overall design thing. Trinity should be staying behind the team, healing them, but that's 100% not how it goes lol

I agree with most of the above points.  Blessing definitely needs a visual indictator, such as glowing gold or a buff icon.  There is no reason that I should have to spam the button to see when it is about to run out.

The problem with energy vampire is that most of the time your team has to be fully coordinated for it to be used properly.  Teammates tend to try to kill the glowing thing as quickly as possible, which sometimes sucks for me if I only have enough energy to activate the ability.  It's a completely pub-unfriendly abiliity, that while useful, can have its use shut down by my own teammates at times.  The radius above may be too large, though.  I'd recommend a shorter range, between 5-10m radius, for balance reasons.

The casting times on abilities are definitely way too long, for the above listed reasons.  I can live with Blessing's casting time (figuratively, I die using it all the time), because it's powerful and it seems reasonable.

one thing they should fix about her is that energy vampire is better at lvl0 than at lvl3

the second thing is WoL being useless after you unlock blessing,

the third thing is a visual indicator on the duration of blessing

Oh, yeah.  I forgot about the duration actually being a hinderence later.  That needs to be fixed for sure.
