Definitegj
So can someone explain the relationship between Corpus, Grineer and Tenno? From the intercepted transmission, it seems that the Corpus had been all along selling materials to Grineer to fight against us. Now, after they made Grineer angry and about to invade them, we Tenno are hired to sabotage the Grineer's ships? We are used like a dog. How can we trust the Corpus to reward us after this whole thing is over? I plead all to let the Grineers destroy almost all of Corpus before we begin our sabotage missions. Slurmageddon
The Corpus are a race of merchants who hide away on Mars and Neptune and they control the solar rails. Theyre already established, and powerful because everyone gets their supplies from them, even the Grineer. But the Grineer are greedy, and expanding their empire all the time, so they fight the Corpus. Now; the Tenno are the right hand and mighty fist of The Lotus... whom we know nothing about. All we know is that they are small, but very secretive, and both wise and old enough to know how to awaken the Warframes. The Lotus so far seems to care mostly about maintaining a balance of power in the Sol system, rather than achieving more power for itself. If the Grineer invasion with the Fomorian ships is successful, it would tip the balance of the war (and we are ALL about balance) as well as harming the Lotus supply chain. Corpus aren't really rewarding or paying the lotus for their help, this is more like Lotus blackmailing them with the fact they deployed their ancient and recently woken warriors (us) to save the corpus' asses. If the Corpus came up with a super gun that would tip the balance of the battle in THEIR favour, its them we'd be destroying. Thats how I understand it all to be at least. Khaos_Zand3r
Vay Hek's brief gives some insight. Lotus describes him as being the Grineer representative on a council for the entire system. Which would imply that there are other political entities, including the Lotus (the hinted at organization, not just the face we see and voice we hear). Odds are, a representative for the Corpus Merchant Guild is on that council as well. Up front, the Corpus don't seem to have actual enemies. They are simply out for themselves. When we attack them, it is because they have something we want, not because they are strictly an enemy. Also, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." We are in a temporary alliance with Corpus, because the role of the Tenno is to survive, and to survive we have to maintain balance. If the Grineer became too powerful, we would find ourselves against an even greater struggle. The Grineer may have been a client to Corpus, but it is clear by these events that Corpus wants to fight back against their empire. Hopefully more pieces of the board will be revealed as we get additional factions. More on Tenno-Grineer relations: We learned from the first part of the story that the Grineer want to destroy us because they see us as a threat to their power. We are literally fighting for our survival. We do not yet know what the long term plans of the Lotus are, but odds are the goal is to overthrow the Grineer empire. The devs have mentioned a morality/choice system that could guide the path of the story. The way I see it, after we remove the Sisters, the Grineer will be weakened. At this point, the Lotus would capitalize on it in some way: either they too become corrupt and establish a new empire, likely leading to a civil war among their agents (us), or they are just and fight to establish peace throughout the system, and eventually branch it to the other systems we can not yet access. Also, to make a comparison: In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Revan may have been an agent of the GenoHaradan, a shadow organization of spies, bounty hunters, and assassins that worked to maintain political balance throughout the galaxy. In a way, the Tenno are a similar organization, but with a seemingly more noble mindset and less sketchy past. We fight to bring stability to the system, where the Grineer only seek to conquer, and the Corpus seek to profit. Again, we do not yet know our masters' end goals, if there are any beyond this. And we do not yet know who else plays key roles in the struggle of the Origin system... Edited July 27, 2013 by Khaos_Zand3r

Wayward_Momiji
Rather simple, when you're on Corpus ships you're 'infiltrating' them. I don't think any merchant likes getting visitors in their private quarters, if almost any RPG ever taught me anything. The Corpus are just way too greedy though, and when they become too fervent on exploiting things (like extracting warframes from sleeping Tenno), it's up to the Lotus and the Tenno to beat them to sense. Really I like the Corpus the most out of the three factions due to how just dumb and goofy they can be. Both in-game and in-lore it seems. "Hurr, a mighty destruction-bent war-like civilisation is threatening us with guns. They be bluffing." While in Defense missions on corpus ships for example, I see them Crewmen running towards the cryopod and back, back and forth like that, (possibly a glitch with the new defense mission enemy AI,) or just in general taking several moments to even notice the Tenno beside them, be they Crewmen or Moas. Tetsmeha
Pretty much both factions hate the Tenno. Grineer straight up just hate the Tenno and want them all dead. Corpus on the other hand want the Warframe tech and Orokin tech, so they steal cryo pods and sell sleeping tenno. Tenno kill everyone because NO ONE messes with homie Lotus. NixeonLow
So, to sum it up...Grineer - Xenophobic and power hungry.Corpus - Greed and jealousy, nearly worshipping Orokin tech and profits. (Someone in the forums roughly said 'Think a high tech Wal-mart, they don't care about their workers, only the bottom line.') Lotus - Balance and ....? Tenno - No memories, so we serve the power that fits in with what feels right to 'us'. Remember, the Tenno's culture could be compared to that of knights. We raise in our ranks with achievements and tests of our strengths.
