So, This New Vasto. And That Firing Sound.

figured we should have a dedicated thread to this.

the Vasto... sounds piddly. i went to a clear quiet room, and shot it, and i love the crack at the end of the sound. don't get me wrong, the audio is nice quality. but it sounds like a pop, rather than the blam i was expecting. i presume this is something like a .44 caliber revolver, which i expect a resounding blam. not this pop.

i'm hoping this is indeed changed / fixed, as this is literally my only complaint with the gun. the only other thing i could maybe think of, i think it's base ROF is actually too high. i don't end up shooting that fast with it, i take well aimed shots with my Vasto. considering a lot of people for some reason think this gun is crap - when it's a very respectable weapon(and i'm not even halfway done levelling it, and using it against lv50 grineer / infested) - so then, lower the ROF maybe, and increase the damage a bit? but really, 50dmg is fine.

i'm concerned about the bullet damage type since we still have the scaling issues, so i won't be taking this on Tower III defense or anything, lol, but i'm enjoying using it.

but, if the sound is changed, do leave in that beautiful crack at the end of the sound. it sounds very nice, indeed.

considering it does presumably bullet damage type, i'm not surprised it isn't superior to Armor Piercing. obviously. i didn't expect that out of Vasto.

i did rush the build of it though, and was not disappointed that i did so.

what i did do, was test it against decent level enemies, and see how it fared. and it did pretty well.

i realize the scaling in Warframe doesn't work well, so comparing everything to Armor Piercing damage type is extremely bad and will cause balancing to be very broken. we can still balance things with scaling issues, just don't compare performances with lv300 enemies. because we know only a few weapons are useful there.

Have you tried listening to it with a quality gaming headset or headphones? That's what the new series of sounds has been optimized for, or at least awesome sound systems.

I agree with this. It sounds pretty beastly on my gaming headset

i'm not using an integrated chip or some bargain audio equipment, no.

and no matter what audio equipment you're using, compared to other weapons, it sounds piddly. the weapons will still range from each other the same no matter what particular audio setup someone is using. using the rest of the game as a base (since this is a game, and i can't directly compare a game to a real gun), Vasto doesn't have enough blam on the forward end of the sound. in comparison to other guns in Warframe; Lex sounds nice, Sandal is quite the interesting sound, shotguns sound like they have plenty of force behind them, etc.

once again, in comparison to other things in the game, it sounds piddly.

Pretty useless gun with too much recoil for its own good. If it had less recoil so rapid fire would be accurate it could be comparable to the sniper pistol powerhouses like the Seer, Kraken and Lex. However, like the previous weapons, it would still pale in comparison to the Acrid and Despair.

The sound is indeed piddly and it only feels different with a better sound system because most people turn the bass up to eleven giving the impression that the weapon sounds powerful. Also, like the Sobek, it's too small for what should be an impressive and intimidating looking gun. Can't believe you got revolvers wrong.

i'm not really having trouble shooting quickly with the Vasto - but then i'm not firing as it's maximum base ROF, because i don't shoot that fast. still shooting at ~2 shots per second though. just using slightly under 500ms to compensate for the kick, and bring the gun back to where i'm intending to aim. even with trying to shoot rollers and enemies around corners when i don't have a clear shot but it looks like i might, i still have 76% accuracy on my profile record. that's surprisingly low for me, but not bad at all.
