Ember The Not So Tank

When I got ember i expected a full on tank (I didn't know about the wiki then). At first she had all the characteristics of one, a SUPER damage reduction ability and world on fire which kills everything around you if properly upgraded. Though her shields and health equal Excalibur, but her armor is the lowest in the game, 10. The second overheat comes off i might as kill myself. She used to make due pretty well before the difficulty buff (im not saying revert the difficulty) but now she seems to fall behind warframes like excalibur. I feel like her shields and health or at LEAST her armor should be buffed up. I mean come on, the SCOUT warframe (Loki) has more armor than ember. Please take this into consideration and devs and players please give me feedback on this...

EDIT: I am saying that she has the characteristics of a tank in her powers, i mean come on if saryn the poison warframe is a tank (armor of 125) then how is ember the BURN EVERYTHING warframe not a tank, I known she isn't a tank but her powers have the characteristics of being one.

The Ember is definitely not a tank Warframe like the Rhino or Frost. She is a more fragile warframe meant for high damage. The Loki doesn't have nearly as much damage output with his abilities so having him make that up with higher armor makes sense.

Ember is a CC tank.

The flat damage reduction to her health and shields while Overheat is active makes the frame suitably tough, but most of damage mitigation comes from lighting things on fire so they stand around waving their hands around wildly instead of shooting at you.

Ember can tank effectively, but needs to keep Overheat up to do it.

She doesn't need a buff, she's primarily a power based frame, Overheat is just a nice utility for those who know how, and are equipped, to use it.

Ember + Focus + Max overheat = Amazing damage reduction.

If anything, World on Fire needs to be re-worked and not Broken,

Right now it's only hitting a Max of 3 targets at a time instead of everything in the radius.

If you read her little info blurb, you'll find that she' supposed to be "A nightmare for lightly armored opponents."

Sounds nothing like a tank to me.
(Granted these blurbs are often extremely misleading, but they're usually close enough.)

I never had any survivability issues with Ember, my only problem with her is that the damage side of things needs some tweaking. Overheat with maxed Focus is what, 90% damage mitigation on shields AND health? I daresay she has more damage soaking ability than Rhino has.

Rhino and Frost are not tanks.

We have no tanks.

Tanks are things like pillars and bullet-soaking shrubbery. They can take infinite rounds from infinite infinite-level Heavy Gunners that are all dealing infinite damage per bullet at max spin. You don't get tankier than that.

Anyways, you have up to 91% DR if you build her right. That's over (an effective) 11x to your shields AND health, both of which can easily break 500 with mods- meaning they both can (effectively) break 5k. You don't need more than 10 armor, you just need a Focus mod and to actually cast Overheat. Compare to Rhino, who without focus gets to 1200 overshield with Iron Skin. Something that oneshots his Iron Skin drops your shield by 108.

If you want a potentially better tank, get Trinity, who turns herself into rubber and a nearby enemy into glue via Link. Always fun to walk into a toxic mosh and give absolutely no fucks.... untill you kill all of them and have no link targets remaining... heheh... Think that one might be one you can only learn by having it happen to you lol

Rhino can absorb 1560 damage with max Iron Skin and Focus. For Ember to absorb that much with max Overheat and Focus, she would have to lose 140 shields with Overheat on.

Iron Skin is more efficient to keep on all the time, since it has no duration limit on the buff, but Overheat is more efficient for tanking massive bursts of damage, since it doesn't have a damage cap and you wouldn't have to re-cast as often when tanking serious damage.

So, depends on what you're doing. Both can tank, which one can tank better, though, I'm not sure.

You can get the duration over 20 seconds.

If nations can rise and fall in the time it takes to reload a Snipetron or Vulkar, we just went through roughly 5 entire civilizations by the time Overheat finally ends =P

Hell, Trinity's Link has a shorter duration (and a restrictive range, in exchange for 100% mitigation) than Ember's Overheat.

ember and volt are both warframes made specifically for combating one faction. Both of them have a defensive ability to protect themselves to counteract their low armours, and both of them have high shields. you have to play these frames differently, and not abuse ember's ability to do damage by putting her in the middle of 30 infested, and not moving while they take AOE damage. she is not a tank, her moves have to be employed more tactically. You can tactically absorb a ton of damage with ember's overheat, but you are correct that you have to get out. you cant stand tanking with ember because you are not meant to.

I've never had problems tanking with ember. putting focus on her really helps. Mines at +20% currently which means I'm blocking 84% of damage with overheat. This means that with redirection at 200% (and let's just say focus is maxed) ember will have 500 shields with 91% damage reduction (the equivalent of 1000 armor). That's effectively 5500 damage you have to take before you start to take health damage and your health is also affected by overheat. Rhino's Iron skin is 1560 with max focus for comparison.

Basically my point is that ember is just stupidly tanky when correctly modded and with constitution + continuity overheat will last a VERY long time.

from what i know...only frost, frost prime and rhino are the only tanks in the game. embers not a tank.

There´s no true tanking in Warframe. It is more a situational thing that certain warframes excel at.

Protecting: Vauban and Frost. (good for protecting fragile objects or players from harm)

Taunting: Loki, Saryn, and Rhino. (good for configuring the battlefield and diverting enemy attacks)

Meatshield: Trinity (good for being the vanguard that absorbs stuns, knockdowns and disruptor attacks for the group)

Er, fire based 'frame with 4 damage abilities, "nightmare for lightly armoured opponents", how did you get tank out of that information? I expected high damage squishy caster and was shocked to find she had crazy damage reduction. I have no idea how you mistook Ember for a tank but the mistake is on your end. Changing Ember to match your wild misconceptions would be a mistake, Ember was never meant to be a tank and never should be.

Last time i checked you needed fuel to help make a SMALL WEAK (armor) flame to actually engulf things. The only "tank" ability that she has is the one that gives her a small defensive boost that still does damage

Four skills that are just different variants of exploding aoe fire?

Yeah that definitely screams tanks. Please remake Ember because this guy can't read DE c:
