COOL-WOLF
For people who have forwarded their game ports and are still getting the "Strict NAT" warning, read this: I have recently encountered the strict nat warning after switching router/firewall software to something called PFSense. I forwarded my game ports to my computer. Even though I forwarded my ports and I confirmed it to be working (I used hping on my phone to send UDP packets to my home IP address), I was still getting the strict NAT warning. I was quite baffled at this point as simply forwarding my ports worked when I was using previous router software. After a bunch of network monitoring, I noticed that the outgoing NAT portion of the router was changing the port number. Basically, my computer itself was sending on port 4950 but the router's outgoing NAT was mapping the port to something different. I was able to fix this problem by manually configuring the outgoing NAT on my router to use the source port 4950 for any data that my computer was sending to 4950. This however is not something that is easily done for the typical user...and in many cases the outgoing NAT is not something that can be configured via the provided configuration interfaces. Even though a packet can have the source port of 61429 and a destination port of 4950, the game doesn't seem to be acknowledging that the packet is indeed destined for port 4950. This seems to be an implementation issue.
11.11.11
Something similar was discovered by Vanroth, which they detailed in this post: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/13981-strict-nat/?p=945314 over on the forum thread dedicated to this issue: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/13981-strict-nat/page-13 I'm sure many other Tenno would be eager to hear your experiences trying to resolve this issue - and if at all possible, any guidance you can provide on configuring our routers to use a specific outbound port for a specific source port. Even if you were to simply copy this post and re-post it over there.
Kesella
And now for the real question for all us layman, is this something DE can fix?

LongDraw
And now for the real question for all us layman, is this something DE can fix? Yes, infact this is a problem they should have fixed a long time ago when it first popped up. But instead of fixing the problem, they would rather blame all of their playerbase for using largely ISO Manufacturer settings on their modems and routers. And if you don't know what ISO is, then I suggest googling it.
Antharis
Why won't they just implement some sort of NAT traversal technique, like hole punching? Skype, Steam and a lot of other games and programs that allow players to connect directly use those successfully. It doesn't even generate any significant server-side traffic. There are several ways of fixing connectivity issues without dumping the responsibility of hosting games on servers.

Because DE thinks they are smarter than everyone else when it comes to network infrastructure.
11.11.11
Just a quick clarification for those trying to use a DMZ to get around Warframes NAT nonsense. Steam dosn't support running under a DMZ, while you will likely still be able to access the store and your friends. Any Valve multiplayer games will probably have empty server browsers and/or issues connecting and staying connected to servers.
Elhazzared
To put it simply DE just doesn't wants to bother to properly configure their game or their network or whatever and it's the players who have to suffer for it. I'm sorry DE but this is a point where you are just working plainly bad. Every game, and I literally mean every freaking game, that I own with online play has no problems whatsoever. This one is always the same S#&$. I can host sessions, no problem. But I can't join any sessions at all! How about you do your job DE? It's been months and months and even more months. This is something that should never even have existed, no other games in the market have this kind of problem. Fix this!
se05239
I don't think DE visit this forum anymore.
