Aspari
The Vorpa is a shotgun that uses uses magnetic propulsion to deliver a payload of hypercharged bolts that impale the target. The bolts shatter on impact dealing additional damage with the shrapnel. Weapon type: Shotgun Base damage: 100 (5 bolts deal 20 damage) Shrapnel damage: 5% of base damage per shard (5 shards per bolt = 25 shards total. 25 shards x 5 damage = 125 potential bonus damage) Reload Speed: 3 seconds Clip Size: 4 (shoots 5 bolts per round) Accuracy: Nobody cares Fire rate: 0.0 Charge Time: 1.0 Damage type: Physical impact Edited July 30, 2013 by Aspari

Karma_Ghost
The bolts shatter on impact dealing additional damage with the shrapnel. As far as physics goes, this doesn't make much sense. Unless those bolts are explosive, they would impact with the same force regardless of the shatter effect. To be fair, projectile fragmentation typically causes larger wound tracts in unarmored targets. However, conventional ammunition (i.e bullets) tends to fragment on impact. This is especially true at rifle velocities. Therefore, comparatively speaking, those bolts have no special properties (as they are described).
