Need Tips On Using The Torid

Question

So I just started using the Torid, polarized it twice so far. I might potato it again if a potato alert will arise and
not a Forma. I crafted it the same time I crafted Acrid, and it seems Acrid exceeds in single target DPS by far.
Only thing I enjoy with the Torid more than the Acrid is the different type of general gameplay and the AOE.

To those who primarily use the Torid as your main weapon. Which frame are you using and your technique?
I read up on how well Torid syncs with Vauban's Vortex, is this the only way that makes Torid do the most
possible damage?
I decided to craft Vauban again just to see how well this does. I am currently using Loki's
decoy
and covering it with infested spores. However, whenever a Rhino enters my game, he aggros all the
enemies making this technique very...ineffective. I've covered Rhino with infested spores, but that doesn't do
so well since they get mad and charge at me.

Also from my gameplay, it seems this gun is really only for mobile(defense) missions. I've had some trouble
against some of the infested defense possibly because I'm not doing enough think they were lv 70s. Could be
because of teammates making it hard to set up my clouds.

If I do decide to potato this, would you guys recommend putting on speed trigger/reload. Maybe even add more
clip size so I can spam more clouds? If I potato it I'll most likely Forma it two more times; V, V, ~, ~

Does Bane of Infested work on the DOT or just the initial hit?

Current Mods: Maxed Serration, Maxed Split Chamber,  Maxed Hellfire, and Unranked Cryo Round.

Possible Potato'd Setup:

Bane of Infested (9)
Cryo Rounds (4)
Fast Hands (7)
Hellfire (6)

Serration (7)
Speed Trigger (9)
Split Chamber (8)

Wildfire (9)

Hey

Main Toridder here, so I contribute to your quesions:

Vauban: Both Vortex (clearly better) and Bastille (weaker 'cuz you have to spread the shots more)

Loki: Decoy (put decoy inside containers, boxes or "high, unreachable" places vs. Infested

Saryn: Molt in mid-air (better than Decoy), 'cuz Infested won't be able to kill it :D

I love it with vauban, you can easily bulk Vortex and a whole mag on two or three key points at once.

For the modding, remove Fast Hands and put in the ArPen Mod, since it applies the dmg when you reach higher waves. Also try to get as high as possible with Serration (on Forma'd slot). Since it ups the base dmg of impact AND DoT, all other % based dmg will be higher, too.

Add me, we can doublespam Torrids all day man :D

Haha, that would be goofy if you could potato more than once.

U mean u are going to put a potato on it if a potato alert appears? I assume the "again" refers to after the first two forma's

Sorry, poor choice of words. What I mean is that I'm out of potatos right now. And if an alert was to appear, I will be able to potato a weapon again.

Thanks for the feed back and I do do that with Loki. And doesn't the torid ignore armor, I do understand that AP does add more dmg. I was just thinking that with Fast Hands I could spam the clouds, making it do more DPS.

About AP mod, I have tried and testing it on Infested I was just Using 2 mod then i did that, First test SPlit Chamber and AP my tick dmg was around 20 then second test Split Chamber and HellFire my tick dmg is around 36. I tested it on Ancient lvl44 if im correct. And as I read Torid Smoke does Ignore Armor already so adding AP mod is just a waste of slot so i decided to adding more fire dmg and it helps my Torid. my dmg is mostly showing 4 numbers 44 88 99 130. im seeing this number on t3 Def. Its up to you what Mod u will be adding.

Serration -11

Cryo Round -8

Split- 15

wildfire-9

speed trigger-7

hellfire-10

=60

I dont see why not add Speed trigger, coz Fast Hand only apply on reload while Speed trigger apply on every fire rate.

I dont add Elec dmg coz I dont see its much effective rather than upgrading my fire dmg more.

Correct me if im wrong in any of these. Btw Thats just Potato not forma in any way.

And One more about AP. I think it only affect the Impact not the Smoke. correct me if im wrong.

I correct you, Luann

In this game, AP is just another element, like fire, ice and elec. It does AP dmg, yes, but it's added. It has its effect like the three other elements. Ofcourse the "tick of dot" is higher when only equipped fire, but:

a) if you're not host, you don't see ALL of the ticks, just some

b) its additive, if you don't equip elementals you just see 1 tick number, if you add 1 element you see 2 tick numbers etc.

c) infested are weak vs fire, but AP is good for every enemy type since

d) armor increases with levels of enemies.

Also, it would be nice to use some commas :-)

AP counts as an element and does affect the dot. Vauban main and Torid primary. I am currently running potato+2 forma but yes mostly defense missions. I think of the cloud as area denial, anything crossing that door/bridge either dies or is weakened before it gets to me. I'm at work at the momentbut I run a similar build, sserration/split/cryo/wildfire/fire damage/ap. I have noticed that the Torid seems to crit fairly often so I am playing with a crit build too.

Results inconclusive.

That's why I plan on adding both, Speed trigger and Fast hands. To increase the frequency of how many clouds I can produce. And I'll mainly try and use this on infested so yes I do agree that's I won't be using stormbringer. I might try and use it on T3 defense to see how well it can do.

I don't think crit build will go well with it. Since the DOT doesn't crit, only the initial impact of the grenade.

"So I just started using the Torid, polarized it twice so far"

I'm sorry, but you don't "just started to use" something that is polarized twice...

Yes you can. I also stated that I crafted my Acrid at the same time. It doesn't take that long to level a weapon. And when I mean just starting using, I mean using for defense and not just leveling it at Kappa.

So I just tried using my Torid, unpotato'd against T3 Defense. It's rather difficult for me to use it effectively against these guys because they come from all directions. Only time I did decent enough of dmg is when they're hanging in air and bunched up from Bastille or at the beginning of the wave where I can place my clouds at the bottleneck. Any Torid users effectively use this weapon on T3 defense?

Current Mod Set Up:
Serration 1.65 (7)
Split Chamber .90 (8)
Hellfire .90 (6)
Cryo Rounds .15 (4)

Speed Trigger .2 (5)

Mag, Vauban, and Torid were a match made in heaven. Ultimate duo couple for defense.

Also, my Torid load-out.

Use whatever Bane mod for the faction you're fighting.

Have you tried using this against T3 defense? I'm concerned on how it fairs against the last 5 waves. Mine didn't do enough dmg, but mine isn't potatoed and I didn't have vortex to mob them up. Also would you recommend dropping wildfire/stormbringer for speed trigger?

Haven't tried on T3 def yet, but I don't see why the combo wouldn't work. Just have the Mag build tanky and pull away.

If you're just talking about the Torid, it does fine at T3. It can hold it's own against any of the top gun right now.

Also, mobs take full damage from all elemental types now. I really don't see any point to firing you firing your entire magazine when you can kill them out right with 1-2 shot going full damage.

Edit: Bane works on the initial hit and DOT.
