same error here, every time I unplug my headphones the audio dies and I have to restart the game...

Seems as if Warframe doesn't rely on the system audio and is using the hardware on a more direct way...

But I won't call it a major bug, because I know what I can do to prevent it (never unplug/plug in the headphones while the game is running)

OP you are not the only one. Just experienced this issue and now it happens every time.  After some testing I determined that it's only when I switch to Online status.  About 1 minute in game and I get this error. Doesn't matter whether I host or not.  In solo I don't lose sound at all and can play a level all the way through.

All other online games are working correctly.  I only experience it with Warframe.  Using Logitech G35 headset..

Just joined a clan so holy crap this needs to be fixed ASAP.

I've had similar problems with my audio as well. My sound would just randomly cut out, and only in Warframe as well. I could get sound back by closing Warframe, Skype, my browser, and all those other programs then switching my volume level via the Sound Manager to an arbitrary value then back. What actually fixed the problem for me, however, was going into my Device Manager, manually uninstalling all of my sound drivers, and restarting my computer. I haven't had problems since.
