Flux Rifle Thread

At first - good, weapon, decend damage, fine design. 

These are a pros of this weapon, but... i find it kind of disappointing when i fired it at the first time. It sounds like a... it sounds just bad in my opinion. Well, i was expecting somehting like lightning gun from the first Quake. It is just too, i would say, realistic. ;) I mean, yeah, good, i like realistic things also, but there is no wow factor in it.  It should make a sound of cutted metal which zaps in contact with laser beam, or... ah, i don't have a words to describe what i mean in certain, due to my nationality and english not being my native language.  

 

Another weak point is just a beam. It's too simple and we can see how it spreads from the weapon to target. Now realism is highly demanded (so far by me for sure) and we cannot just simple... see how to light spreads cause it happens to fast. 

 

Summing up - it just would be cool if shooting with flux would be like "WZAAAAHRKARHAKSA" *SPLAT* *PFLCKSSH*

What do you mean by best, damage? overall design? 

If about damage and other mechanical stuff, we're done here.

If about overall design - yep, in my humble opinion, this rifle needs a feeling of holding a beast in hand. Now i feel like I'm holding a laser pointer used by a tour guides, which just don't satisfies me EVEN, if i cut whole ship in half.

I've just started leveling it (lvl 17 with a potato) and i must say it's very fun to use but it drains ammo quickly, it also seems stronger vs grineer and infested but kinda 'weak' against corpus and shields in general... is it just an impression or reality?

Considering 5% crit chance and 200% crit dmg could it worth to put crit mods on flux?

CC would go up to 12,5% and dmg 320%

No, you get much better returns from a "raw damage" build.

You should go for:

Serration(10)

Split Chamber(5)

Wildfire(3)

Hellfire(5)

Cryo Rounds(5)

Stormbringer(5)

Piercing Hit(5)

The final mod is up to you, but just so you know: Speed Trigger does not work with the Flux. Personally I use either Metal Auger(5) or Rifle Ammo Mutation(3) depending on the mission.

Edit: DPS Calculations:

Flux Raw Damage: (Serration, Split Chamber, Wildfire, Hellfire, Stormbringer, Cryo Rounds, Piercing Hit)

Raw Damage per Second:((200*2.65)+(((200*2.65)*0.9)*3)+(((200*2.65)*0.6)*2))*1.9=4934.3

Rounds in a Mag:120

Crit Chance:5

Crit Damage:2

Crit Damage per Second:(4934.3)*2=9868.6

Damage per Iteration: (11.4*4934.3)+(0.6*9868.6)=62172.18

Iteration Time: (120/10)+2=14

Damager per Minute:(60/14)*62172.18=266452.2

Adjusted Damage per Second:4440.87

Flux Crit: (Serration, Split Chamber, Hellfire, Cryo Rounds, Vital Sense, Point Strike, Hammer Shot)

Raw Damage per Second:((200*2.65)+(((200*2.65)*0.9)*2))*1.9=2819.6

Rounds in a Mag:100

Crit Chance:12.5

Crit Damage:3.8

Crit Damage per Second:10714.48

Damage per Iteration:(8.75*2819.6)+(1.25*10714.48)=38064.6

Iteration Time: (100/10)+2=12

Damager per Minute:(60/12)*38064.6=190323

Adjusted Damage per Second:3172.05

stick a ice mod on it

 

 

and in regards to sound something a little louder and maybe "thrumbing" i guess you could say.
