Nightmare Mode, No Shields Is Anti Fun

Nightmare mode is something I would still consider very much in the works. DERebecca has confirmed in a similar thread that they are still working on it and making it better; removing things that are unneeded and replacing them with something better.

 

It'll get better. Patience grasshopper.

No-map is anti-fun, no shield is just there to challenge people.

i'll rather have no minimap and slowly find my way than having no shield+vampire mode and die by a touch from a boss shooting with aimbot.

No shields is so much fun, it gives you the thrill of "oh S#&$ better not get hit or else i'll die" feeling. I mean that's only if you're into more challenging content. I have no problem with the new difficulty of nightmare.

no shields is a BADBAD idea - many frames are mainly shield based, while some has decent hp and can handle 1-2 hits - specially those with high armor (lowers hp damage).

But a 10 armor ~200 hp frame is a constant 1 hit.

It makes Steel Fiber and high defense frames useful, also makes us use cover more.  I always found it weird that we played more like Rambo than ninjas.

Hooray for forcing players into using cover in a game without a cover system!

No shields is so much fun, it gives you the thrill of "oh S#&$ better not get hit or else i'll die" feeling. I mean that's only if you're into more challenging content. I have no problem with the new difficulty of nightmare.

 

This is not a modern day FPS game, e.g. cover and shoot. We can't cover and shoot from it, its not built that way its about speed of movement.  If this mode stays we need health dropping regularly from mobs, as it is they only come from containers, IF the mission has them.

Why does this mode even exist?

It completely makes redirection mod useless.

This no shield mode completely nullify our hardwork we put in our warframe builds.

No minimap makes enemy radar useless.  Energy drain makes energy siphon nearly useless.  Vampire makes rejuvenation nearly useless.

 

Adapt.

 

no-shields is fun, no-shields + vampire = not so much fun

Vampire actually makes it easier since kills replenish your health.  Until you cant find any enemies and your HP ticks down to one.

 

No-shields + energy drain is the biggest challenge, but it's still enjoyable (even when I get steamrolled).  No minimap is only frustrating when the Lotus stops giving you clues.

Another extra problem is that - you dont know when the shield debuff comes - so you cant change your build to match it.
 

And regardless, some light frames already get eaten by mobs in nightmare with shields.

I enjoy no shields in infested missions. I HATE no shields in anything else. It feels like a low blow being forced to play defensive frames so that a stray, unavoidable bullet doesn't kill me in a single hit. That's not fun; that's just a waste of revives and time.

At least in infested missions when you get hit you know you messed up. You can see them coming and avoid them. Other factions just aimbot you into the ground if you're not totally built for hp and defense in mid-high nightmare missions.

Also... No shields is buggy as hell. Sometimes only some party members have it. Sometimes you initially don't have it but get it after a revive. The whole thing's just an unfinished mess atm.

One cause of that might be the sentinel Guardian mod. I have had it trigger in a no-shield mission before.

That is possible.  Often times though I'll have it where some members are actively regaining shields (not through guardian) when some other party members are saddled with no shields.  Losing shields upon revive is also another very odd occurrence. Could be a bug having to do with guardian, but I don't think it's that simple.  We'll see, I suppose - I expect DE will at the very least fix that aspect up.  I just wish they'd reconsider no shields for non-infested maps as it basically mandates you play one of three frames instead of having full range to pick from all of them.
