No sheath nikana

Doesn't that kind of go against the premise of a Katana though?

Katana's are precious swords: expertly and delicately crafted, cared for after every battle, and honored as a part of the soldier/samurai who wields them.

to be less polite, the quality of Japanese metal is terrible for Swordmaking, and thus the iconic many-folded steel and delicate care are a must in order to keep the blade from falling apart.

Yes, Nikanas aren't exactly Katanas. Nikanas exist in the super-tech space age of the Tenno. They're probably forged out of shapeship hull or something.

But they are intentionally made and used with the intent to emulate Katanas of Old.

Thus, they return to their sheathe.

The one in the teaser is outside of its sheathe because it has been lost, stabbed into the ground to be found by another. Sheathes don't stab into rock all that well.

Now, if you're dead set on the idea, DE is working on gigantic katana style weapons. something like Nobadachi or something, I'm too lazy too look it up.

But yeah, those things are way too big to have a practical sheathe, so they probably won't have one.

You can use the Captura, freeze the action with G when charging the Nikana in attack, this will give you unlimited time to enjoy and inspect the blade.

It is kind of strange not being able to preview blade color in appearance setting.

Also all Nikana Stances are iai stances, meaning the sword attacks begin with a "iaigiri" and ends with sheathing.

So sheath is part of the weapon system. Blind Justice much ?

Swords don't stab in the rock all that well either:awkward: I see what you are saying though.

No one in their right mind used a katana in battle. They're very brittle swords.

I absolutely would rather be able to wield my sword out of it's sheath. It makes no logical sense to fight and have to constantly re-sheathe your weapon, even in fantasy.
