why not? call it Shield Density or Shield Power

idk

what do you guys think?

plus they could make a mod for it

yes i know itd make tanks tankier

but itd make frames like volt more viable, he hashigh shield but woop-e-de-doo when everything ganks shields in seconds

I'm pretty sure Steel Fiber also affects the rate at which your shields are depleted from damage.

Iron Skin on Rhino is also effected by it too, if I remember correctly. Armor is applied before all damage you receive, not just health damage.

This is no longer true. Not for shields, at any rate.

There needs to be something to set shields apart from health, otherwise there's no purpose to them being separate entities.

Shields get regeneration, health gets armor reduction.

No, that's WAY wrong, armor doesn't affect shields, and when it did, it was simply a bug. Fast deflection helps how fast shields recharge, steel fiber simply increases armor.

Then there we go. If you want your shield to work optimally, you'll use Redirection and Fast Deflection (or Fortitude).

I, personally, use Redirection and Fortitude. When you get your Redirection as close to cap as mine is, you simply don't need Vitality or Steel Fiber anymore. I chose Fortitude over Fast Deflection due to the 20% chance of resisting knockdown, while only sacrificing 10% shield recharge. It's worth it by a long-shot.

From my experience with a maxed Redirect, Steel Fiber,  and Vitality, if your  goin down your goin down. I don't believe a Volt(1k shields) was really meant to wade through a sea of  infested quite  the way a Rhino  or Saryn does. This would make those glass cannons  pretty tanky. A large change to mechanics.

I really like the idea.

Who am I though. I could be very wrong.

I think a solution to certain power creep are mods you need to choose one or the other.

A mod that increases shield strength cant be layered with a vitality or steel fiber.

A health regeneration mod cant be layered with a fast deflection or Redirection.

Keeps from making a god like defense doubling over shield and armor.

Add more drawbacks as well. The more Health regeneration is leveled, the slower you become.

The more Shield strength is leveled, the more energy takes a hit.

There is a rather large lack of cons to all the pros.

Well if you put Vitality, Steel Fiber, Redirection, and Fast Deflection in your frame, where are your power mods? Flow, Stretch, Streamline, Focus, Continuity, Constitution. Those mods are what make you choose one thing over another. You only have 10 slots, and at least 2 of those are going to your abilities.

Those are the choices that prevent a power creep. You have to choose between defense, offense, or a balance between the two. Unless they add a way to increase the number of slots in weapons and frames, you'll always have to compromise.

Some people still do most of their damage with guns. Sure defense heroes will use suit powers more though. But going through any other mission where most enemies are not a wave, you don't have to compromise anything, and mow over single targets.
