“And why are you hugging the commander’s next meal?” Kilan asks, stepping back into the ktichen. “I told you to boil that morsel an hour ago.”

The Butcher turns, shielding the larkina with its body.

”Pet not food.” He says.

——

Nak reaches down you help you up.

His armor is dented but it is impossible to tell if the dents are new or old.

“Well.” He says. “Now we know what that does.”

It strikes you that he is incredibly good natured givem the circumstance.

Krunk stopped to lean over the butcher and turned his attention to Kilan.

"This sure is one strange and chaotic kitchen, no offense of course"

----

Thraks nodded as he got up thanks to Nak, checking his hood a bit to see if it got a tear or two, which it didn't.

"I'm sorry for nearly killing you sir, didn't think that would happen" he apologize to Nak, didn't want to think what would happen if he actually did kill him by accident. He's glad that Nak was quick to respond in that regard.

“That’s is not a pet.” He says. “It is the Commander’s dinner.”

The Butcher clutches it closer.

“Karky not food.” He says.

Kilan turns to you.

”You don’t know the half of it.” He says. “Help me out here.”

——-

“Ehh life here has its risk.” Nak says. “Might want to get a tech down here soon, get that setting removed. Then again the Manticores might find it amusing.”

The Veil Operative pushed his chair back and stood up. "One thing I've always admired about the members of the Steel Meridian; their moral compass and sense of justice. Your willingness to take steps in the right direction for the betterment of the system. To never forget the atrocities of the past is an important step in making progress. Just as a fire cleanses the land, it leaves behind scars upon the earth it has ravaged.
Now, let us walk. I wish to see more of this place."

As Gol leads you out of the mess hall you notice the other officers, all of whom greatly outrank him. Some watch him closely, while others go out of heir way to ignore him.

One, however, a heavy gunner, steps out in front of him, her tray spilling food onto his armor.

”Warch where it are going, Captain.” She says.

Gol’s first clenches.

“My apologies, Colonel.” He says, through gritted teeth.

”Enough Nika.” One of the Officers says. “Leave him be.”

He tosses a grimy cloth to Gol.

Standing behind the Grineer who are all clearly bigger and taller than himself, the Operative snickers. "Disrespect, dissonance and contempt. Such things will cause divides amongst your cause." He slowly steps forward until he is in front of Gol, facing Nika. "However, I am not surprised these things occur when such... dull individuals clash with others." His raspy voice clearly directing the last comment at her.

The Red Veil had only gotten to where they were by their members following strict rules of respect and discipline. To see officers act in such a way to a fellow, even though they were Gol's superiors, was unforgivable.

"I will give it a try" he said before her turned his attention back to the butcher, hunch down so he was at the height of the butcher.

"Listen, I know that losing someone close to you is tough, but this creature will eventually pass away like you and me. Wouldn't it be better if "Karky" deserved a better end than to just sit in a dirty sink and potentionally get..um..accidental pass away by someone else? Tell you what, what if I helped you pick a new friend and don't worry about the cost, I will pay for it. How does that sound?" he asked the butcher with a calm hand on his shoulder.

----

"I will make sure to put a warning label on that setting sir so it won't happen again or maybe add some kind of extra safety precaution to even use it" he brainstormed some ideas out in the wild.

“Pay for Karky.” The Butcher says, tossing some credits onto the table.

“Ahh its too time late to cook it anyways.” Kilan says. “I’ll have our supply agent pick up a few Karkina as well. “But you’ll need to get that thing out of my kitchen. Find a tank for it somewhere.”

——

“Sounds good.” Nak says returning to his booth. “I’ll leave it in your hands.”

“The Ambassador is right.” A voice says.

Nine feet of alloy armor steps into the mess hall.

From the reports sent to Red Veil our reocgnize one of the Manticore troopers, Grineer entrusted with tenno designed power armor.

“General.” The Officers say, snapping to attention.

“Nika, Cressa wants an update on the supply lines.” The General says.

He turns to Gol.

”Captain Gol.” He says. “You should be well aware that this is the officers hour in the Mess Hall. If the Ambassador was hunggu it could have had food sent to his quarters, rather than parading him around to boost our own status. Now clean your armor up, and report to the hangar. There is a new shipment of Drahks that need a guide.”

A few of the officers snicker.

”It is a large shipment.” The General says. “Perhaps he could use some help.”

The snickers stop.

”Ambassador.” The General says. “I will show you around, and answer any questions you have.”

He motions for you to follow him out of the hall.

He turns and nods at the Captain before following the General.

"It is an honor to meet you, General," he said, putting one hand on his chest and bowing slightly as they walked, "I must say, I am, and my superiors will be, quite impressed by what you have done here, for the most part."

He stood up and look toward Kilan

"At least I tried" he simply said with a shrug.

"By the way, how long does this kitchen shift last? Just curious" he asked, having a feeling that he was forgetting something.

-----

"Yes sir" he said before he returned to the control room, turned down the dial away from the dangerous setting to a more reasonable one. Once he had turned on the machinery below the shooting range, he checked to see if anything was broken or not after the incident. It seems like everything was still intact to his relief.

"The shooting range is back online sir, you know the drill" he said with a thumb up just to be sure.

He gestures to the area around him.

”This area is still under repair.” He says. “You will be even more impressed when you see the restored areas.”

“Generally it’s all day.” He says. “I like to refrigerate the leftovers for the next shift. As for you, as long as you get the desserts and meals out for the Officers you can sleep and rest whenever. Speaking of which let me show you your quarters.”

——

Nak resumes shooting.

”All polished Sir.” The Lancer says.

The gun rack is practically shining. Each and every rifle looks pristine.

”Shall I begin repairing the simpler weapons, sir?” The Lancer asks.

The room was filled with debris, the walls scorched with laser blasts and riddled with bullet holes. Pieces of shredded, burned and corroded Grineer armour seemed to be littered in the corners.

He chuckled as they moved across the room. "Ah, the Tenno. The finest warriors ever created. I've often questioned why people even bother to create armies when a single Tenno fighter can carve through a hundred men in a single strike of their weapon."

Ha'ruk was awed at the sight he saw before him. Even if he hated his brothers and sisters he had to admit their accomplishments could be awe inspiring, he would have never believed that Grineer could make a mobile asteroid fortress but here it was. If word was to be trusted however, the fortress had fallen into the hands of the defection group Steel Meridian. Ha'ruk's defection was no secret to the Grineer empire, when he went awol he had slaughtered half of the men on the galleon he was on and stole a Grineer scouting ship for his escape. Shortly after his escape he had received a message from an unknown contact only with coordinates and codes, with the message "A chance for redemption" at the bottom. Ha'ruk felt that this may have been Grineer troops trying to fool him....but the he remembered they weren't nearly this elaborate. He followed the coordiantes, only to be amazed he was at the site of the grineer fortress. He opened comms and tried to transmit his codes so he wouldn't be blasted out of space

"If you promise to be careful so you don't accidently shoot yourself or anyone else, then yes, you have my permission to do so for the time being. One more thing, make sure that the weapons have their safety trigger lock on or someone might come in here and accidently press the trigger and maybe injure someone or him or her self" he said to the lancer as he kept an eye on the shooting range and Nak.

A moment later you receive an encrypted response.

”Ha’ruk, glad to see you made it.” A voice says “Report to hangar four. Brig will come find your Ana show you to the labs. There are several projects your expertise may be helpful with.”

A waypoint appears to the hangar.

Ha'ruk grinned as he read the message, all up to when it mentioned a lab. He started to have flashbacks of his....."reconditioning" at the Gustrsag Facility. A voice echoed in his head, You are broken...but will be fixed. Better, deadlier, perfect. Ha'ruk tried to shake away the memory and piloted the ship to the waypoint that has appeared. He made sure to very carefully land, having the ship land in the designated area. He scratched the metal pad over his right eye...something he put on personally when he found out that his left implant had a tracker. Ha'ruk grabbed all his weapons and holstered them, finally stepping out of the ship and waited for this "Brig".

“Be aware He last inhabitant was a bit... oddd.” Kilan says.

The room in question appears almost normal, until you turn towards the wall facing the bed.

The plaque says “The Kweens favorite meals.”

Each display lists the date served and has a number of cleaver icons below it, likely a rating system of sorts.  Each also has some sort of skull or animal part on display. Disturbingly several skulls appear to be Grineer, and a few displays simply have various helmets.

——

The Lancer sets to work on a damaged Hek.

”Colonel Nak to research and development, Colonel Nak to research and development.” A voice says over the intercom. “The specialist you requested will be meeting you there.”

You don’t have to wait long. A massive Grineer, wearing a simplified version of the armor awarded to Lech Kril, walks up to your ship.

He salutes, then motions for you to follow him.

This hangar is in good condition, and you can see several courier class ships parked on various pads.

He steps onto a gondola at the edge of a massive chasm. You can barely see the other side.

Ha'ruk immediately noticed the giant of a grineer reached his ship. He didn't know what to do so in instinct he just followed him as was asked. "Much cleaner than I expected...especially with what it took to get the fortress."

The gondola guns, and energy shield appearing over the windows and doors.

”This leads to the command center, as well as the science division.” He says. “It is one of the only ways in or out. The others are teleport pads keyed to Generals or above, and a single hangar with enough security to detect and shoot down a Tenno ship.”

The gondola rocks and begins its traversal.

The General seems completely at ease and when he turns to point out a particular rock formation you can see why. His suit features several small thrusters, enough to maneuver should the gondola fail.

"Looks like I won't be alone" he said with a chuckle, patted Silver on her head.

----

"Yes sir. I will think of some brain stimulating activities that these soldiers can work on" he said as he turned off the machinery for the time being.

"Good luck on your next task at hand Sir" he said with a salute to Nak.
