The Well Needed Mod

Suppression is quite the opposite of silencing. Suppression, ideally, is loud and scary, causing hostile combatants to dive into cover, which inhibits their mobility and battlefield awareness, which is then used by friendly forces to advance or relocate.

To really work, you'd need to have a "subsonic rounds" mod, and that entails a penalty to range or damage.

Taking off a different mod in order to add this one is a damage penalty itself.

This is what I was thinking of when he said a suppression mod. Edited by fishworshipper

...I wonder if they'd fix the sounds first though....Somehow my Vulkar can still be heard as long as a Grineer is in the same map tile or a door is open and I'm sniping at it from 50m away. (I'd kill the grineer, his friend who has his back turned will suddenly look at the dead friend, to me, then sound the alarm, quite unlike Paris.)

I'd fancy hearing a silenced Vulkar tho (as I love snipers with loud bang than has silencers on them, like an AWP).

They even have Banshee's sound scaling in place so I think that mod is very much doable. :>

Do you mean "suppressing fire"? Intended to keep enemies behind cover and such.

Because  "suppression" on it's own when talking about firearms generally means "silencing" the weapon, i.e. using a "suppressor"

I mean how there scilent weapons that cant be detected. But your ideas are good too :D. Can any1 tell me how to upload a screenshot

that's the viable mod most of us understood...Since the silencer is also called a suppressor (it took a while before people got to it though).

it might actually be the first mod where the lower the numbers, the more desirable it is. :D

Silence weapon for up to 30m (undectable if you shot past 30m, else you're detected), scaling down by 5m every rank, maximum of 4 ranks (so you still have 10m where you can be detected, but that's better than being detected as long as you're on the same map tile :D )

Or if they have actual decibels for every weapon:

Decrease weapon sound by x%

:D!!

... actually, suppression means "pushing something/someone down" in its Latin core. "Suppressive fire" is fire that is suppressing the enemy, due to psychological effects resulting in suppression. A muzzle flash suppressor is often simply referred to as a suppressor though, admittedly. Sound suppressors got the nickname silencers, although they hardly work as often depicted. ;)

I still kind of don't get what OP wants. If he means silencer, then no. It ruins the purpose of silent weapons already, like why bother making a bow which is silent on it's own if you could use a "silent" ogris. If he means something else, then ignore my post.

Funny you should mention Ogris as it actually is a silent weapon.

You, sir, just reminded me how sound calculation doesn't really seem very accurate in this game...Not that I'm expecting something so advanced like that in a game (too many factors).

Yes.

However, the OP is referring to "something", and specifically mentioned weapons. In the CONTEXT of weapons and gameplay in Warframe, i.e. solo missions, again, according to the OP.

It can easily be concluded that the OP is asking for a "suppression" mod on weapon fire sounds to prevent detection during solo missions.

Whether the OP's idea is relevant considering the current "silent" weapons already in the game is another matter altogether.

While the tangential discussions were interesting, tis best to stick to the context of the OP's post. :)

apparently they played too much CoD, I don't think you'd use a supressor in a battlefield.

Nothing constructive in that statement.

Moving on.
