New Mission Type/mission Variant To Make The World Feel More Alive

Hearing about idle animations to make stealth more of an option got me thinking about the persistency of the world. As much as I like the game it doesn't really quite capture the feeling of life in the world and the interactions between factions.

An idea that I thought would be nifty is a new mission type or variants of missions where there are already two factions duking it out (such as a Grineer invasion of a Corpus ship). The players come in and have to complete their mission around the two warring sides. An example of this kind of concept would be the mission "Gravemind" in Halo 2 where you see the Brutes and Elites fighting and engage them yourself as Master Chief.

I don't know if more faction vs. faction is planned but I feel like a mission like this would bring some much needed variety and world building to the game. Share your thoughts!

There is already something like that. Sometimes when I'm on a Corpus Ship, Grineer Soldiers show up and battle the Corpus, while I just take advantage of the situation and kill high value targets.

I think what he is suggesting is an actual mission mode, like raid, capture, defense, ect, in which you go in during the chaos of the two sides fighting to do something.

 

Although to be honest I've only encountered the whole "Faction VS Faction" thing like...twice in the entire time I've played warframe, I personally would LOVE to see more of it on bigger maps. There is one tile on the corpus planet map that is just MASSIVE and i'd love to just walk in on corpus fighting off infested.

The problem is that those "faction vs faction"-encounters are more like transition from one faction to another. after a certain part of the level Lotus says the typical sentence "Large Security Force Incoming - Its the Grineer" or the Biosignature sentence or the Robots Inbound sentence. the starting faction disappears after a small area where both factions fight each other, and the other faction takes over.

 

I would like to see more small skirmishes throughout the level. Heavy Enemies fighting Heavy ones (Bombard / Napalm vs. Ancient for example, or Corpus Techs battling it out with Heavy Gunners.

MOAs flocks encountering Grineer Lancers or Chargers, Crewmen fighting their former buddys aka Runners and Leapers.

 

So you can see some sort of 'battle strategy' of both factions, Heavy Units being called to fight Heavy Units (Tanks called to battle enemy tanks), Medium and Light Units called to fight other Med / Light Units (Sending in Infantry to fight Infantry).
