GIMO
Long Swords typically have the same if not SLIGHTLY increased base damage, same crit chance/damage, and SLIGHTLY longer range. After that, a sword's dual counter-part completely outshines the single varient. Having, among other things, increased attack speed and the ability to hit multiple enemies, is there any reason to not use Dual melee weapons over their Long Sword counter-parts? Are long swords in general viable to use when all other types are able to hit multiple enemies (except single daggers). Heavy weapons are used for strong base and charge damage and being able to hit multiple enemies, daggers have armor piercing, dual swords are fast and hit multiple enemies, and long swords have...? This has most likely been brought up before, but except for those that have a special affinity towards a certain long sword or just using them to gain mastery rank, there's no real reason to use Long Swords over anything else... I believe just letting them hit multiple enemies would rectify this. What do you all think?
Probta16
I want something more for the long sword. Anything!!
Jugganatha
This is a long standing issue of Warframe. I'm amazed they haven't just flat out removed most long swords from the game, seeing as how they all accomplish nothing, have no special traits and DE refuses to balance them up to an acceptable level. You're right, it is a long standing issue, but it has STILL yet to be rectified... that's why I'm bringing it up again.
VoidPunch
I actually prefer using long swords over dual melees, but that's just me. They aren't better or anything, I just like single swords. But yea I do agree the long swords seem sub par to dual and heavy weapons

But practically, there's no point to LS's

Jugganatha
I actually prefer using long swords over dual melees, but that's just me. They aren't better or anything, I just like single swords. But yea I do agree the long swords seem sub par to dual and heavy weapons Aesthetically the long swords are sex, let's be honest. I so, so wish I could use Dark Sword without losing all the damage and cc I would by ditching Orthos. It wouldn't even have to be all that powerful. A simple faster swing and forward hit cone would be nice, coupled with a hit cone on its already fast and comparatively powerful charge attack. But nooooooo, the rule of cool doesn't matter. The ugliest gear always works best (Orthos is still beautiful, I'm lookin' at you Gram!) Also, why can't the longswords have hp/energy leech, temporary mind control, poison/dark energy/plasma-fire dot, forcefield on block, a dash attack, etc etc etc gimme something if it can only hit one target! ... Edit: Also, in any other game different weapon classes like single, dual, heavy and pugilist(Furax and Kogake) would force you to play differently in very noticable ways, but I don't see heavy melee weapons reducing run speed or dual weapons decreasing armor, do I? GIMO
Nope. Heavy and Dual weapons are straight upgrades. So you want to have 10+ just straight up useless weapons?
DiabolusUrsus
So you want to have 10+ just straight up useless weapons? I think he simply means that there are no advantages to longswords of which you are unaware. I don't think I've encountered anyone who is outright opposed to buffing longswords, only people who don't care enough about them to argue in favor of it. I personally would love to see an overhaul of existing melee weapons to shift them into more distinct and satisfying archetypes that are all equally viable. The simplest solution seems to be allowing longswords to hit multiple enemies.
Ptolemaios
i have to agree. all of the longswords are pretty much 10 reskins of the same crappy weapon. who in their right mind would take a cronus or dark sword over an orthos, other than for liking the look them. if the swords were as good as they were sexy, they would dominate the game.
