The Grind In Warframe Is A Joke

I keep seeing these threads that pop up regarding how grindy this game is.  I don't think there is anything in this game that takes a year to get.  I have been playing mmos for over a decade and I can promise you warframe is a very mild grind.  Even if you have a full time life and cannot play everyday, you should be able to have pretty decent collection of frames and weapons after 6 months.

I played an mmo that had 2 specific mounts that I wanted.  One took me 2 years of farming.  The other took me a little over 3 before it finally dropped.  It wasnt something i could do everyday though.  I was a once a week thing, that I farmed on 10 characters.  I am telling you all this to point out that it could be a lot worse.  I am happy that DE hasn't gone the hardcore grind route like so many other mmos have.  The fact that you can completely skip the grind altogether with buying plat just makes it that much sweeter.

Edit.

I edited the title.  It has been pointed out to me that Warframe is not a mmo.  3 million people play they game so I made the assumption that it was.  My bad.  Having said this, I still think the grind is a joke.   I would rather see DE fix things like armor scaling and giving us more endgame, then spending time working on drop rates and reducing the games overall grind.  Thats just my opinion.

agreed.

while rng can be a kick in the teeth some/most times, it is still far better than other games.

not all that long ago i was still playing the ME3 mp (not quite mmo, but you get the point) and after some 1000+ hours i still did not have everything maxed out. rng there was far more painful for me than it has ever been here in warframe.

These kids should play Vindictus for mindless grind. Took me 6 months to get a damn Elch Tear(And i got lucky). And that was for one piece. It's like farming 6 months for Banshee systems, and still be missing Chassis/Helm. This is child's play, they just don't have patience.

+1 Agreed.

Although my compulsive side just has to point out warframe isn't really an mmo. An mo, perhaps, but not massively.

Thousands of people online, playing at once. You may have 4 people in a room, but you still have thousands upon thousands of different people to play and interact with in total. You can have completely new people in your next mission, you can talk to more people in the chat and hang out with dozens upon dozens of more people in your Dojo!

It's not an MMORPG, but it's still got quite a bit of MMO in it.

Gotta disagree with you there. Take a look at the latest batch of prime weapons.

Even buying platinum, the only part of the "grind" you can skip is the void key farming. After you buy your key packs, you have to hope for Capture/Defense/M.Defense keys.

After that, you have to hope that you can complete those missions on your own or find a group to run with. This part isn't terribly hard, but it does take time. If you complete the mission, you then roll the dice for a shot at an item you want or don't have.

Here, there are diminishing returns. As you collect the void reward components, your chance of finding new/useful loot diminishes with each new find. I'll agree that this game isn't as bad as some others, but that is NOT a good reason to be happy with a system that can be improved.

I've got to agree with the OP.  While Warframe does have a bit of a grind, it really doesn't hold a candle to the sort of grind that most MMORPGs have.  Honestly, I can count on one hand the number of MMOs I've played over the past 13 years that had less of a grind than Warframe, and from sheer volume alone that's saying something.

Agreed OP.

There is much worse grind out there. Much worse.

However - that shouldn't be any reason for anyone on these forums to feel they shouldn't give Feedback about making the grind more enjoyable/tolerable.

No matter how mild it is I'm sure everyone would welcome a situation in which it is even less of a problem.

well said and people are comparing the RNG to monster hunter , also apparently this guy thinks the RNG needs fixed https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/91813-too-much-rng/page-2

On-topic.... Now, I've played a lot of games and Warframe doesn't come close to being as bad as what I've experienced, but there is still too much reliance on RNG for my tastes and not enough to do. What this game needs is more things to spice it up. More missions, more random events that can happen during missions, etc.

I'm hoping that the new Grineer settlement, with it's little creatures and water and swimming are going to push the game further in that direction.

After a while, yeah. Definitely turned terrible.

The RNG does need fixing. Even DE agrees with that. That is why they are working on fleshing it out into something more sensible.

Well, I don't want to say that it's "terrible"... that makes me feel bad... My roommate got me into it, but it stopped being fun at higher levels and everything was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too demanding. Eventually stopped playing completely...

Hearing that makes me feel a little bit better. How I managed to miss it when DE talked about it is anybody's guess.

Meanwhile, maybe some of my now-redundant posts will yield some useful information anyway.

I guess there are people out there who just can't seem to understand that some of us actually enjoy the grind.

As long as the grind is consistently profitable, I have absolutely no complaint about the grind (in any game).

Warframe, for example, rewards me with consistent amount of mods every grind session, which in turn, is used to fuel fusion.

I'm okay with this sort of thing. In fact, I'm happy with it!

What killed it was it turned P2W. You had to sell Dyes from cash shop to make money. Or be lucky as hell, with bosses.
